Now that a lot of these kids graduating the games should be a lot cleaner and help both teams in there district and playoff games.
Better get facts straight. Coach wanted to play. He was mad that it didn't happen. Mills was the only one on that deal.

You kc people spend way to much time on our forum. Why is that. You miss your old coach or you just that interested in Bell County Football?
Yep, a little controversy at the banquet. A player didn't get the trophy his dad thought his son should have. So what. Should we call it in to the Barbourville gazette? Parents are parents. You can't please all the parents all the time. Kids can't control how they act. You have a few every year. I'm sure it's all tulips and daisy's at good ole kc all the time.

It was just a guess anyway. I'll try and do better.

You can send any "irrational parent behavior" to the Pineville Sun if it ever happens at kc.

Actually we have missed the opportunity to beat you and your new coach the last two years. We are excited that that has come back. We don't miss our old coach we just want to show that he was not our program. Our new coach does very well, and we are happy .
Why do we stay on this site? We just like rubbing you guys, because you are the classic case of, "you can dish it out , but you really can't take it!!!!"
So if you want to talk on our site please by all means let's do it.
Like I said no big deal at the banquet. Except for the part of TWO adults wanting to fight at the banquet. Parent and Coach. Details trickling in.

Is the banquet really that big of a deal down there in la la land? Dang, I should have filmed it and sold it to the drama department there at the school. Maybe they could have done a play about it.
As for missing the opportunity to "beat us" the last couple years. That's water under the bridge. Maybe you would have, maybe not. The fact is, I really can't remember the last time kc beat Bell. I'm sure someone will post it shortly due to my comment, but till you do, we'll talk the talk. No harm in that. So pour it on. I can get on and wear it. lol

I don't know that we have ever beat you. I ask the same question. Of course before Hilton, you guys were as bad as us so maybe in that time.
The word opportunity, means a chance to. See we hold Mills and just Mills for taking that away. Like you said it is back now.
No our banquet is not an issue. It the fights at yours that are interesting.

I just can't see your all's thinking about why Mills should have played the very next year after leaving kc. You must not have known him very well. Maybe you was blinded by the stars in your eyes due to the fact you was winning games. If you know Mills very well, you know his passion for the game, but on another note, his passion for the kids. I'm very confident in saying it would have been a great hardship for the man to go and coach against the kids he brought our of the darkness and had so much passion for. Was you not there when he gave his speech to his team when they played Bell his last year? The man is human and has morals. That would have undoubtedly been a terrible outcome for both programs and the kids as well. The Bell/kc rivalry is one of the best and will continue. His kids are all but gone now at kc and they are following their new coach who is doing a great job. I look forward to the new rivalry. The coaching will be different and the talent has changed somewhat for both teams, so it should make for some great games.

Dudley always kept everyone happy. I don't know what the deal with Bell County is now. Fighting at the banquet. That doesn't sound like a good thing.
02-13-2013, 10:54 AM
Parents believe what they want to and you can't control them. You always have some that think their kid has been "wronged". It starts at the kindergarten level and goes all the way through college if they play that long. You can't tell me that every program in every sport doesn't have to deal with this. Dudley made a big impact on Bell County Football and people believed he couldn't do no wrong. He had his times with parents also. People were more intimidated by him because of that impact he made on the program. Heck, a lot of fans think he's coming back to BC. People will be skeptical of a new coach. He needs some time. I've seen things in the program that he does different and kids will have to adjust. So will parents. A lot of these "daddys" played for Dudley and some old habits are hard to break or adjust to. kc is still the up and coming program and can stand the change. Bell is on a benchmark that has to be maintained or there will be controversy. It will iron itself out. Mills will be the whipping boy for some time.

Mills is no stranger to the program. He was there during some very good years at Bell County. It was very common knowledge that Mills was going to be the next head coach at Bell before he went to Knox Central if and when Dudley hung it up. This will be Mills 3rd year as head coach. The honeymoon is over.

I agree, he's no stranger to the "program" but that doesn't mean he's following Dud's plan. He's his own man, but he still has to overcome the "ways" that Dud left behind. The old faithfuls will criticize everything that ventures away from the old way. How many state championships did Dud win in how many years at Bell? Mills has plenty lee-way.

Keeping people happy doesn't win championships.
02-13-2013, 12:35 PM
From your statement I gather that Dudley didn't do the right thing. He had 2 championships at Bell and 1 at Bourbon.
Actually winning keeps people happy and Dudley done that.
You act like Dudley should have won it every year. That attitude is what Dudley built. Get what I am saying.

Two different points to be made there about making people happy and no I didn't expect him to win it every year, but it would be nice. This is more about comparisons being made between coaches. People expect Mills to be Dudley and run the program the way Dudley did. That's not fair to him. Any little adversity or stray away from "how we used to do it" gets a knife if Mills back. Looking at the past five or so years records, take away the '08 championship, which Mills almost took away, you wouldn't know that Dud left.

:please: you are forgetting that there is a group who were freshmen when Mills left that are now Sr and then there is the Jr class that were 8th graders that he also had a good relationship with that haven't for gotten how he lied to them all.

Lie to them? That's pretty sour. I agree they were or would be faithful followers, but to say he lied to then freshman and grade schoolers. Hmm, I don't know bout that. I guess we all see things differently, but they really never had the opportunity to be directly coached by him. I'm sure he spent time watching and giving advice, but how did he lie to them? Dud stood up and said he was gonna retire at Bell and "coach coaches". Next thing we knew he was gone. I remember when my son was in grade school, Mills would cut up with him and give advice. He was always good for that. My boy was gone when Dud left so I guess I really didn't have to go through what it would be like.
02-13-2013, 05:11 PM
I will tell you how he lied to them!!! Two weeks before he took the bell job he told the whole team ( you are going to hear rumors that I'm leaving and going to bell but I'm here to tell you that they are nothing but rumors I'm not going anywhere I'm here and this is home." Then turns right around and takes the job. So you tell me if that's not a bold face lie I don't know what is. I personally don't blame a person for wanting to change jobs at all my only gripe about was that he lied to the kids and that just something that no one should ever do!!
But for wanting to see if the grass is greener on the other side no I dont

Well, I see your point. But momma said a little white lie never hurt no one. It didn't kill Bell either when Dud said close to the same thing. So, in moving on, I guess all will be better this year. The big rivalry game will be renewed and someone will be a victor and someone will get harassed to death on here. That's what makes for the greatest game around, highschool football. :Cheerlead

Can't wait till the game gets here.

Almost every coach lies about taking a new job when deciding on one.
Heck, we had a loser take a job at Whitley, only to leave before spring practice ever began.
Its trash like that you want to stay away from. Knox got a good coach and so did Bell.

Are you kidding me? Can a man not have reason to change his mind? You people have crucified a man for leaving a program that was a joke when he took it over. What was it a couple wins in a few years? Then came Mills. He built it. He is the one who worked to get that nice field house your son works out in. Think of that every time you walk through that door.People leave jobs for new jobs all the time. Get over your crying self. Spend your time worrying about your own team and we will take care of our own. Must not be too happy down there or you wouldn't be still talking about it after two seasons.

Mills made that decision, following a legend. He is in a no win situation and will be forever. At least until he wins a state championship. Don't think that will happen in the near future. By the way you said it yourself, if you didn't know it, you would not think Dudley was gone. (I don't agree at all) Dudley had respect, you may not like him, but you respected him. What happened at the banquet would not have happened to Dudley. Mills doesn't have that respect yet.

You hit the nail on the head with saying that wouldnt have happened to Dudley. Dudley had his hand on the pulse of the team. He knew what buttons to push and who needed what. I mean come on having a heated exchange at the most public of your football functions sounds disfunctional.

None of the Bell fans want to post right now. They will not say, just that a parent and Coach Mills got into some type of beef over an award. Rumor has it, not handled very well by anyone, including those in charge.
And no I was not there , was told by someone that seen it all. That is why I put rumor.
