Nice win by the Tigers. Lead was extended to 18 before the Tigers took the starters out with 1:30 left.

Breathitt has some players and can definitely shoot the ball. They started great but sort of fell off in the second half. McDaniel had one of his best games ever as a Tiger. Very impressed with his 31.

31 and 8, not bad for an "average" player, especially on a kid like Hamilton. Lyttle for CC has played like a monster lately. Tigers are peaking. If they can get Reed on board they will be a tough team to knockout.

What? This was a close game man. Coach fugate got a "t" and thats how the lead got extended. Breathitt kept fouling at the end and clay co hit their free throws. If game had been played on neutral court breathitt would have won.

Iknowbball, think what you want. No time to debate with a comment like that.

Come on now, Hamilton and Noble were pretty much the only factors for Breathitt and they had quiet like 16 and 14. McDaniel was a gamer tonight with 31. 16 by Lyttle and Rice chipped in 12 or so. Bowling only scored 2 points, don't get carried away. I know the call you're talking about that probably should have went the Bobcats way when the coach was T'd up but the Tigers out played them for 27 min. (first 5 was Breathitt County vs. Tyler "Chip" McDaniel). Probably 11-13 in first quarter.

You know clay co got the calls. Breathitt only has a couple players that play defense.
02-09-2013, 11:50 PM
Lol, what kind of statement is that?
02-09-2013, 11:54 PM
How many free throws did clay shoot in the last 2/3 minutes of the game? And clay stepped up and hit them the game was closer than the score.
02-09-2013, 11:58 PM
No, the game was about an 8-10 point game until midway in the 4th. They got fouled intentionally bud.
02-09-2013, 11:59 PM
Breathitt's problem is if you foul one player out, they have NOBODY coming off the bench. Very top heavy.

Yea you are right

Big win

Don't look now but the Tigers have won 8 in a row since that depressing loss to PCC then collapsing against Harlan County. Clicking at the right time. Biggest game of the year Wednesday.

Clay county should win the 13th region!!
02-10-2013, 10:44 AM
Yes they should curveball. Tigers can play with anyone when the game is uptempo. Breathitt hadn't done much scouting and tried to play fast. The "average" player McDaniel made Hamilton look terrible, and Hamilton is a very nice ball player. Lyttle had his way with Chaney inside as well.
02-10-2013, 01:03 PM
I was saying you were right about the 8/10 pt margin and fouling intentionally not about the comment about the bench. The bench rarely gets to play in a varsity situation so no one should expect these kids to be at top performance level when they are never given the opportunity. And if anyone has watched breathitt play this year their defense is definitely lacking. So no surprise that someone put up 31. Not taking away from the clay co kid he played a really good game.
02-10-2013, 01:06 PM
Yea, there team defense is lacking but he scored them all, except for free throws, with Hamilton guarding him. I think the Hamilton kid is a heck of an athlete/player personally.
02-10-2013, 01:24 PM
We all have our idea of a good defensive player. Btw, look around plenty of good athletes that aren't good defensive players. And, maybe if the coach would give the players on the bench a chance maybe the other players would play better defense but when you know you aren't coming out of the game with turnover after turnover and lazy defense then why would you worry about it??
02-10-2013, 01:32 PM
Iknowbball, not sure on all of that. I didn't think Hamilton played lazy at all and I'm about positive none of the guys on the bench could have given half the defense and none of the offense he gave last night and gives Breathitt.
02-10-2013, 01:44 PM
Whatever man. You obviously haven't watched breathitt play much lol I'm not going to argue with you man you know it all. Come out and watch us then we would have 11 fans instead of 10
02-10-2013, 02:08 PM
Sorry for your team troubles. Like I said before I'm not sure on anything dealing with Breathitt basketball. All I know if you all have a great player in Hamilton, good players in Chaney and Noble and also the blonde headed kid. Having no depth is a problem but if I was in the 14th I wouldn't want to play you guys come tournament time.
02-10-2013, 02:16 PM
Thanks man. We wouldn't want to play you guys in 13 th region either. Good luck!

Fugate running out of time to get it together

Clay definitely played well against one of the most pitiful defensive performances I've seen from a HS team. Breathitt was lethargic in every aspect on defense. Taking nothing away from Clay, Rice really provided a spark for them in the 2nd quarter hitting 3 three's. Seemed like Breathitt never could get back in the game after that.
02-11-2013, 06:11 AM
Breathitt had the flu!!!

It's hard to figure out the 13th region. One week it looks like Harlan County is the best team, the next week it looks like it is Clay County. Then there's the other teamsl that seem to be able to pull the upset on the top teams on occasion.
Clay County has to be hungry for a title. Trips to the state used to be common occurrences for the Tigers but its been a while since they've been there. Harlan County, being a new school, would like to start their own tradition with a championship. I believe either the Black Bears or Tigers are the most likely winners.

Lookayanner - I agree with the majority of your comment. The only issue is that I believe most people around the 13th region would agree it's been a two team race since the beginning when North Laurel started struggling. However, there are a few teams right behind them that can make a push but I believe it is 1A and 1B right now. Slight advantage going to Harlan County at home but we'll have to wait and see who gets to Rupp. Clay County should have had back-to-back region crowns and just haven't done it.

One team to watch out for is Bell. Potter is a heck of a player.

Good win for Clay Co., Breathitt Co. has a solid team.
