:dontthink well that may what you think, but you look at the other top teams in the state and they play tough schedules and they do really good, does highlands or trinity play cake schedules?? I think not and it sure don't hurt them so you cant tell me playing a tough schedule hurts you 44 state title between those 2 teams cant be wrong!!! It works for them so please tell me why it cant work for a team in the mountains??

The difference between Highlands,Trinity, and Knox Central is depth, Highlands and Trinity have almost no one that play both ways even very few that play special teams. Where almost all of Knox Centrals players play both ways.Trinity and Highlands also have the same problem that HarlanCo. and Knox Central are having is no one wants to play them. I know Coach Russell wanted to schedule a couple passing teams to prepare them for the playoffs but could get no takers.

I doubt any state championship team has ever played a weak schedule. the good teams want to play the best competition.

Bell County/Knox Central game should be an interesting one, former Knox Central coach Wayne Mills facing his former team

Where are we at on the schedule.

Harlan, Bell, Whitley and Knox looks like they are having their King of the Mountains playoffs. If Belfrey could get involved we would not have a paper champion next year but a team that has played all the best to prove they are the king.

As far as belfry goes Harlan is plays them as well as Knox and bell

Belfry is The King of The Mountians.......the rest are playing for second right now. Harlan , Belfry will be a good match up. Knox and Harlan are in the running for that spot next year.

Harlan County will play Belfry, Johnson Central, Knox, Whitley, and Bell.

It seems Bell County, Harlan County, Knox County, and Whitley County will ALL be playing against each other next year. Rock needs to get in on this as well.
I asked this on another thread, but is the Knox/Whitley game at Knox? I know for sure its on the schedule, but not sure of the home away deals yet. Whitleys got Bell, Boyle, Knox, Madison Southern, Rock, Clay and Morristown East or West.

Knox, and Harlan County are head and shoulders above the other 2 next year. Bell County is in a rebuilding mode and Whitley has never been. Why is Whitley in the conversation as best in the mountains?????? Belfry is Top dog. Period. People want that honor , beat them.

Yes it's true I heard it yesterday from some of the players. Still can't believe Jewell is willing to play the panthers but I love it been wanting a shot at them for a long time... :biglmao:

Ill just be honest.
Nobody gives a shit about Belfry in this part of the state.
All of the teams mentioned are within an hour of each other. Belfry is a 3 1/2 hour drive.
The "mythical king of the mountains" has showed time and time again that it means nothing.
Sorry.

I believe Knox central schedule is going to look something like this
Atherton @ KC
Pulaski southwestern @ Corbin pigskin
Prestonsburg @ clay co Appalachian bowl
Whitley @ not sure where its at yet
Bell co @ KC
Harlan co @ Harlan co
Clay @ KC
Rock@ KC
Russell co @ Russell co
Corbin @ Corbin
For some reason I think the Whitley game is at Knox but I'm not sure.. I believe that this schedule gives the panthers one of the hardest in the mountains the only other one that is close and may be a little harder is Harlan co only because of belfry being on it this year...

From the looks of it, the Whitley game will be at Knox from looking over your schedule if Russell wants an even 5 home and 5 away games.
How in the world did Atherton become an option? Im very impressed by the rest of the schedule. Russell isnt backing down, thats for sure.

To be honest I think Atherton got in because had to find a team that would play Lynn Camp next since this the pioneer bowl..lol I know Corbin was add cause Christian co change there mind and backed out.. And I glad they did really want to kick some redhound puppies in the ass!!!! inglepar

I'm not sure how they got Atherton, but, I'm pretty sure they are trying to schedule more Kentucky teams so as not to get bit like they did two years ago. Knox beat Rockcastle, Rockcastle beat Russell and Russell beat Knox and the points system that is the tiebreaker gave the district to Rockcastle where Rock beat Perry and Perry beat Knox. Knox lost out on some points where they played some Tennesee teams if I remember right and Rockcastle only played Kentucky teams. I don't blame Scotty Russell for not wanting to get into that situation again. They do have a very tough schedule, agreed.

Russell has taken a page from Dudley schedule book.
1. Atherton ......please
2. PSW down bad
3.Prestonsburg 2A not bad..not a powerhouse
4. Whitley...not bad....not a powerhouse
5. Bell....completely reloading ( We still win)
6.HARLAN CO ...only Big Dog on schedule
District
10. Corbin...way down.
Big name teams that are down. Dudley playbook.

How do yall think 4a district 6 figures this year.

I think it comes down to Knox and Russell again, Clay then Rock .I think Knox and Russell will be the closest this season as ever, should suprise every one how good these teams will be come playoff time.

:please: you really got to be crazy you lost your whole offensive line while Knox on the other hand lost only one! And two on the defensive line..

This should be knox's year but only time will tell. I'm not sure what Russell has comming back but I know rock and clay will be doing some rebuilding again this year..

Russell county still has alot of speed coming back, loose kicker, britt, and qaurterback kicker probably biggest loss, still gonna be sollid team.

Bell will struggle this year IMO.
Im not saying they will, but Knox, Whitley, and Harlan County could all beat them this year.

If you don't improve by playing tougher competition you were never going to run deep in the playoffs anyway. So if your goal is to win big you need a big schedule. Especially in the mountains where we are full of teams who win big in the reg season and can't beat the passing teams in the rest of the state.

I agree to get far in the playoffs you need to be able to compete with the passing teams!!
