Congrats to Knott. Its wierd to watch Cordia play with kids from Canada and all over the United States. Gonna be hard for any local kids from Cordia to ever see the floor.

Owootoah=turnover machine.

kcc got to learn how to play against box and 1. these two teams will probably play two more times. It is going to be even more difficult for KCC to beat this team again.

I thought the game was called evenly. But one thing that was ridiculous was a few traveling calls that made no since to me. Knott had some traveling calls that were not traveling, and Cordia had about double that i thought that were not traveling. These refs did a horrible job in that department but other than that fouls i thought were even.
But back to the game. Short is the reason why Knott won this game. His three pointers came at crucial moments when they needed a bucket. Cordia with the box-1 is the only way i would guard Knott, it forces Knott's roll players to beat you, not Cameron.
I might catch heat about this but i really don't give a s***! After this game, if anybody who went to the game don't agree with me, again i don't give a s***! Owootoah IS the best player in this region. I feel like him and Cameron are on an even level as far as high school basketball. I do feel like at the next level Owootoah will be the better college player. His court vision is amazing, passing ability is incredible, SO FAST! He is without the doubt the best player in this region. This game is only the 3rd game that these guys have played together, which teals me there is a s***load of room for improvement, which they will the rest of this season. I see this match-up as a District Championship game, now that I believe will be a better game than this one.
And hopefully when these teams play again, none of these refs are doing the game cuz like i stated before, those walks sucked!

I was there and I have to disagree with you. I'm not impartial obviously but Justice played against box and 1 all night. Owootoah had plenty of turnovers with his attempts at passing through people so much. I think he has the best hands and got some great steals but Justice got the most attention on D tonight. This was Knotts first look at Owootoah and I'm sure Cordia already had the scouting report. That being said I'm not going to be a total homer.
Justin Johnson is the best player in this region right now. Next, Camron Justice. If I had to take a third player it's tough between Beverly and Evan Hall.
Even after tonight, Dondre Warren is the first player I'd want on my team from Cordia, pure hustle all the time. I like his game.

Kind of hard to judge considering Justice is just a Sophomore.

^ and I don't care who replies with what, that statement above is my peace. We are debating stuff that doesn't matter.
My takeaways from the game. KCC has got to get hungrier. We come out flat in the first quarter if we aren't playing Perry or Hazard it seems. Cordia wanted this more. Even though Knotts role players didnt blow this game out, you got to realize that they can do enough to win a game. Short looks to finally be back in rhythm and luckily we escaped an excellent team a third time. Gotta quit being sloppy with the ball and cut down turnovers. Had we done that, game could've ended earlier.
Congrats Cordia, you are a legit contender in this region. However, still PCC, KCC, Hazard in that order. Don't care that they lost to Cordia, Hollan is the heart of Hazard. Good luck tomorrow Pats!

Corey Short is an excellent outside shooter, he just passes up alot of shots...

game changer Cordia's lack of transition defense.

One thing Owootoah proved is that he is in no doubt a division one level pg. This guy might be a Senior, but I was told today he is 16.
I will say I have never seen a jumper as good as Justice in the mountains, and I have said ever since I first saw him play that he is division one talent. Both guys are very talented and deserve ever school that has contacted them. I will disagree and say that I'd put Johnson behind these guys, guess I'm a sucker for guard play lol.
For the people to say EKU and small schools would be only schools he will get playing time, I didn't see that tonight. Most impressive player on court, went into the timber and made plays, the kid will have a great career as a starting pg in college.

What did Owootoah do that was so special to be talked about so highly. I never saw the game, I'd liked to be filled in.

It's not just that Knott came out flat, they came out playing man to man defense and Knott Can Not guard this team that way. Once they switched to zone, it allowed Knott to get back in the rhythm of things. Knott can't score with Cordia either in a fast tempo game, zone kept Cordia from pushing the ball and scoring bunches, Cordia zone offense needs to improve. That was their weekness tonight at times, a lot of standing.
Now you are wrong about Emmanuel! He is faster, better ball handler, quicker, better defensively, better hands, better court vision...out side of shooting, Justice can't do anything better. Now I know I have been saying Justice is the best, he is the better scorer but at the next level(college), Emmanuel is better.
Other than the traveling calls, this game was a good called game. Last time I checked two steps was not a dribble. Warren made a move down low being called for a travel, Justice made the same move a few trips later and no call. But a win is a win and a lose is a lose. Congrats Patriots!!! GoodLuck in your first All A state tourney, Wolfe won't beat you. Bring home a state title to the 14th region!!
A lot of these passes Emmanuel is making will get better because catching the ball should improve. It's hitting their hands a lot but just can't catch his passes, remember this is just their third game. So much room for improvement because they're still learn how to play together. What their new roles on the team are. Come District and Region it's going to get interesting
01-19-2013, 12:18 AM
Meant two dribbles was not a travel

14th region officials should not ref 14th region tournament games. Just like the regular regional tournaments outside region refs should ref the tournaments. Just my opinion.

Congrats to Camron Justice on his scholarship offer from Tennessee today. That is impressive for a sophomore for sure.

I watched this game as well and neither team played well. Cordia made simple mistakes that cost them the game. Knott didn't really play well but managed to win.
Owootoah is very good and athletically is on another level above anyone else in the region. Made several WOW plays with his quickness and ball handling. Knott played a 2-3 zone but the guards up top really keyed on keeping him out of the lane and left the wing players open most of the night but they struggled to knock down open shots. If Cordia had a player or two on the wing that could shoot the ball consistently they would have won tonight.
Officiating was inconsistent at best and favored Knott for the most part, especially during a key stretch in the second quarter that allowed Knott to take the lead after trailing most of the first half. Several of the walk and double dribble calls looked to me to be officials who are not used to officiating players with Cordia's speed and athleticism.
Cordia is good enough to win this region and they need to be mentioned in the mix with Knott, Hazard, PCC and Breathitt.

From an unbiased fan, this kid seems to be the real deal. Watched Justice a lot, first time seeing this kid play, and other that shooting the ball more constantly this kid made him look like a UPike player going against last years UK team. But hey Cam has two more years. All said and done, Short gets MVP for this one. Good Luck Pats!

2 plays stand out, the play when Justice misses the three and they call a push. But he gets no freethrows. Second, the play when warren went to dunk and they call charge. They guy never set up, and was parallel to warren. Brian napier and brian cook were horrible. I don't know the other guy, but he sucked too. Evan hall had some nice put backs and corey short had some big time treys. Cordia had 15 walk calls, a few were warranted, a lot wasnt. Knott also had some bad calls, oowotoah hands down best player on floor. May have had 5-6 turnovers. But had more assists.

One of the refs according to the call chart that some of the media members were keeping, blew his whistle 23 times for the game and 21 were against Cordia. Guess he was the ace in the hole for the Pats. Pitiful.

^7 points was knocked off of Cordia for walks being called after the ball went through the hoop. Combs 3, King jumper, and Warren lay in. Jaylyn Williams mom approached me after the game and told me personally "the refs favored knott the whole game in calls, you was odivously cheated." All i take from that is a fan that can see when a walk is obviously not a walk. But we have TONS of room for improvement with team chemistry. Knotts at its peek. Cordia is a top contender in this region and has the best all around PLAYER in this region on their team. I'm pretty sure E had about 30 tonight. That's not to special i guess against a top 25 team in the state.

^Not one person on this thread shouldnt hate Knott Central. Played a great game. But the refs should be hated for not calling a evenly called game with idiotic walks that obviously weren't. And from this point on i shall refer to Justice as the "Paul Pierce" of the 14th region lol.
01-19-2013, 01:18 AM
lol Had to post it. Just seen that theroadtorupp wedsite tweeted at the half "Knott county, with a little help from the guys in the striped shirts, lead Cordia 26-25 at the half." I swear it was obvious tonight. Go back and look at all my post from the previous two games. Never once did i complain about the officiating. Just obvious.
