Cordia players ruled eligible
#1
Just heard the news today! This could change things up in the 14th
#2
Here comes the Lions!!!!!!!!!!!!!
#3
I have not seen either play but I have heard lots. I am glad to see them get to play it only makes the region that much tougher. I hate hearing all these go exactly by the rule book people crying foul. These are people supporting teams that have not upgraded their talent. The 14th region is as strong as I can remember it and our teams that go to state can only benefit from playing top notch talent. This does not change anything in the immediate future but rather makes the winners and losers of the district tournament games more relavent. I am not a Cordia lions fan or supporter but I do enjoy watching great players in person instead of on tv.

I enjoy watching Kentucky high school players.
#5
who are the kids, how good are they?
#6
Wow! If they are as good as advertised this throws them in the mix with Perry, Knott and Hazard, with Breathitt a still dangerous team.

You don't have to watch them that's your choice. You're not going to stop this. Really it's been going on for a long time. Johnny Cox ring a bell. Let them play. I' m not a Cordia supporter but let them play. Anyway the ALL A starts next week we'll be able to see how good they are as Hazard and Knott are both in it as is Cordia. And I know Johnny Cox was a Kentucky boy but it' s the same principle. Peace be among us. Brother Cecil.

Johnny Cox was from Neon, not Texas. Yes, both are recruits. They will play in HS here and never be back. I don't like it JMO. Takes away from other kids. Not fair to anyone in KY HS basketball. I do have to watch them since they play us twice and probably three times.
#9
Im glad they are now playing. Out of state kids have been basketball stars in this state for years. OJ Mayo and Billy Walker was fun to watch and Im sure these kids will be fun to watch. People say its not fair to East Ky kids but I personally think a school like Cordia will welcome these kids because for years Cordia has been getting killed by all these power schools like Knott, Perry and Hazard.
#10
That is why Rose Hill Christian Academy received sanctions for recruiting. Yea they got experience and then moved on.
Yea, they need to increase their annual budget for something other than textbooks and staff raises.
#11
Who are they? in all seriousness is one of them getting major d1 looks? if so why would come to eastern kentucky whose going to notice him here especially at cordia?
#12
D1 scholarships are not earned during the high school season. AAU ball is where kids are seen and where all the coaches and scouts are. High school ball doesnt mean much when it comes to the recruiting process.

Couldnt have said it better, this is what people do not understand.

Owootoah has been offered by ucla. Has many other d1 schools interested. Dropped around 13 dimes in tonights game at cordia. King had 19 pts and both looked already in ball shape.

Just out of curiosity what makes a kid a "Kentucky high school" player? Serious question. Do they need to be born in Kentucky? Do they need to have resided in KY a certain number of years? ETC
#17
A player who spends his entire high school athletic career in Kentucky.

Players who are 7th, 8th, or 9th I don't really have a problem because they become a part of the school and its community. I have a real problem with players who just keep moving. In the meantime, those "local
' players that missed out on playing time may have quit or players that sat on the bench lacks experience that they would have acquired.

I have no problems with the kids at Cordia. I have a problem with the system in place and the adults that run it.

I heard that too and was surprised. I have only seen video of him but I thought he was good - not great and definitely SMALL.

Then again - I had a friend in college who was offered a couple of schollys, including by our school. He kept waiting and waiting to see what else he could get and all those schools ended up giving those away forcing him to be a preferred walk on at our school where he promptly became a benchwarmer his whole career. Moral of the story is an offer doesn't make you a star in and of itself.

Kasongo also has big offers and frankly he doesn't seem to be living up to the potential (I say that from what I am told as I haven't seen him this season).

Not at all saying that Owootoah is not good or won't end up at UCLA. Just saying maybe we should give it til the end of the season before determining whether or not he is as special as he is rumored to be.

Could it possibly be that their competition with your team be part of your opposition to this. As you say we play them twice or three times. Regardless of where they're from they are just teenage kids. Would you expect the same attitude about a Kentucky boy if they moved to another state. Just asking? As I say I have no dog in fight. But the way the rules are written now by the KHSAA you're not going to stop this. Peace be among us. Brother Cecil.

http://ucla.scout.com/a.z?s=12&p=9&c=4&cfg=bb&yr=2013,

Don't see his name on this list, I don't believe he has been offered by UCLA! I'd have to see the letter with my own eyes!!!

Cordia fans moving on up already got the lingo down!!!:biglmao:

Owootoah must be a very good player to even be talked about like that...

But my guess is he did get a letter or something from UCLA, maybe when he was younger or in AAU, remember Clint Stepp got a letter from UCLA in AAU, and Dakota Euton was getting recruited by Kentucky.... Personally I'd love it if the kid is that good and does go to UCLA or a big time school...

^Personally after talking to coaches, players, and Owootoah himself at seasons end he will sign with Tennessee if they offer.

Those lists are almost always wrong. I don't think anyone actually pays attention to them in the least.

No clue if he has actually been offered but that list you posted means less than nothing in the world of recruiting.

You need to get out of Altro more if think Scout is wrong!!!

You have no clue but I guarentee Scout does!!!

When you are offered a scholarship by a major D1 school you automatically get a 3star ranking.

Cordia will be a hard out with all the talent they have and may win the 14th all A. But they have to beat a very good Knott County and Hazard teams. But they will be in the mix.

Scout is just making an educated guess as to who has been offered. Sometimes they are right but they are just as often wrong. The players and the players coach are all they have to go by in regards to who has offers and who doesn't and many times coaches and players will say they have been offered when they haven't to increase a players appeal to other programs.

College coaches don't inform scouting services of who has offers and who doesn't and even if they did there would be many coaches with ulterior motives behind who they claim to have offered or players they would claim not to have offered.

Nope...Yes...don't like KHSAA rules. A kid would be crazy to go to Texas to play basketball.

As a coach, fan, or parent I have never agreed with their rules.

That's just not true Alro Cat! Scout is extremely acturate with their information.

Was talking with Coach Rhodes today at McDonalds when he got a phone call from Orlando Antigua...from what I could tell from ease dropping looking like UK is looking for some depth next year and Emmanuel Owootoah may be the answer....only time will tell
