When was the last time Pikeville was in the top 10?
12-24-2012, 08:23 PM
Whitley/Clay 1-2
12-24-2012, 09:06 PM
How is Rockcastle not in the top 10. they are winners of there last 8 games and beat #8 Bell County.
12-24-2012, 10:12 PM
Rock is better than Whitley also...
12-24-2012, 10:18 PM
Not so sure about that. Whitley has a good team this year.
12-24-2012, 11:42 PM
I would have to disagree.... Whitley by 15
12-24-2012, 11:45 PM
Several other teams that should be in before Pikeville. They have only beaten teams that are going to be in the middle of the pack in their region. It is still early in the season and will change every week.
Agree Whitley and Clay should be ahead of Letcher for now. Whitley beat Clay, Clay beat Scott by 13. Scott beat Letcher by 23.

Whitley is really good! A legit top 5 team Maybe #1. Rockcastle should be some where 8-10

Dont worry about littlepiggy.
He just likes to troll on Whitley for some reason, and in the process shows his ignorance because hes always wrong.

The new rankings dropped Whitley tonumber 5 behind Clay and Harlan County.
Only thing is, Letcher and SV both lost one game in christmas tourneys just like Whitley did.
An honest ranking IMO, would be....
1. Whitley County
2. Clay County
3. Harlan County
4. Shelby Valley
5. Letcher Central
6. Southwestern
7. Bell County
8. Sheldon Clark
9. Rockcastle County
10.Magoffin County
If you look at games played, you make a valid point. LCC and SV are on a simlar level, about even IMO, but Whitley, Clay, and Harlan County are 10 points better.
There was a 30 point swing in the Scott County game alone.

Who votes on this list. Whoever it is needs to look at who these teams are beating and losing to. How is Whitley behind Clay who they beat at Clay where no one wins. How is Pikeville #7? Their record is good but who have they beat?

I assume it was because Whitley lost by two to an out of state team sothey dropped, however, both SV, Clay, Harlan County and LCC all lost as well in holiday tourneys and they didnt drop compared to what Whitley did.
I just dont see a reason....

Quite frankly, a close loss away from home to a top 10 team in the state is pretty damn good.
Also lil, its easy to copy and paste.

Keep up the good insight gut, you do a great job.

It sounds like a pretty good showing by Whitley against good competition.
The 13th is stronger than I thought overall.
I'd put Whitley No. 1 on the Mountain Top 10 list at this point.

She could go to any NAIA school within a 100 miles of here if she wanted to as of right now.
Expect that to change as time goes on. Remember, shes just a junior. I expect between Smith, Craig, and atleast 2 more, we will see 4 girls off this team playing in college.
However, once again, what does it matter? Im still not understanding your point. Are you doing this solely to make some kind of absurd point? Because if you are, its weightless. I dont know if you realized this or not, but this is a girls high school basektball forum. I could care less what happens in college. At the end of the year, this region will come down to two teams. Whitley and Clay. It would seem the better TEAM is who will be there at the end.
Exactly who are you supporting anyways? Who do you think the best player will be? What is your vendetta against Whitley, other than them pounding other teams in this region?
At the end of the day, you can take someone like Morris at Bell and when they play Whitley, we will double team and leave with a 30 point win.
Please make a valid point, members are starting to see your post are hot air.

Smith is a great player.
I would expect between her and Craig, we would have two really good college futures in our presence. I know Smith could go to pretty much any school in the MSC and the best part is, we get all of these players back next year. Powers will be tough to replace, but with the way Johnson has been playing, we should just rotate more players in.
We should be the favorites in all the remaining games of the regular season. Other than the 2 point loss to that TN team and a 3 point loss to a #9 in the state Sacred Heart team, we pretty much just have region teams left. Its obviously very hard to go without a complete off night so the chances are always there for a loss, but if the ladies were to win out, that would put them at 24-2 heading into district.

So the all knowing( according to you) does not know what offers a girl from Whitley County has? Let me tell you one thing, I do know who has offers.....and not from NAIA schools either. I dont want to keep on cause I dont want to make a very nice girl look bad cause I am on here arguing with people from the 13th region, but most of you people absolutely nothing about basketball other than what you deem is a good high school player. There are people who has had a great deal of good laughs at you gutless on this very thread if you knew who they were you might never post again.:devilflam

You used to sound like you knew what you were talking about, then you became one of these "one issue posters."
Morris has a good game and you start with the see I told you so, the rest of you are stupid posts like a 12 year old. Then, she has a bad game, and it's I don't care she's still the best and anyone who doesn't think so is stupid.
I explained this once before, but I'll try again:
The list isn't for the best player on the national level in summer competition.
It's not for the best college prospect.
It's not for the player who is rated the highest by the recruiting services.
The list isn't even picked by the clueless Cats Pause writer. It is a coaches poll.
Morris is a great high school player and has a tremendous college future ahead of her. If you saw a lot of HIGH SCHOOL games last year though you'd know that Madden was just as good a HIGH SCHOOL player. Maybe Morris moves to the front this season, but it's very close going into the year.
But, again, I must point out that talent and BCS college scholarships aren't the only ways to judge a HIGH SCHOOL player. Those polls, after all, are about high school players.
Scott Russell was Mr. Football in 1991 and went to an NAIA school. He was the best HIGH SCHOOL player that year. Phil Cox was Mr. Basketball in 1981 but other (taller) players had more Division I offers. Richie Farmer is a Kentucky high school legend, but he was not considered one of the top college prospects in the nation. Allan Houston went on to play in the NBA, but Farmer will always be remembered as one of the greatest HIGH SCHOOL players in the history of the state.
