Harlan County Sports: Football: Several Bears, Dragons receive top honors on All SEKC team

Several Bears, Dragons receive top honors on All SEKC team
No the two kids attended Harlan Ind all 4 years of High School and both have started all the years I believe.
The regional champion Harlan County Black Bears claimed several of the top awards on the Southeastern Kentucky Conference team (3A-5A) released earlier this week.
Junior Carson Whitehead was selected as the league's top linebacker after leading the Bears with 191 tackles, including 64 solos.
Jake Middleton, a senior tailback who rushed for 2,141 yards and scored 29 touchdowns, shared the honor as running back of the year with Bell County senior Jonathan Polly.
Treyvon Long, a junior who played numerous positions including running back, receiver and quarterback, was named special teams player of the year with two touchdowns on punt returns.
Cole Wilson, a junior who was also a standout at defensive end and receiver/running back, was selected as kicker of the year. WIlson won the job after the season had started and proved to be a pleasant surprise with 38 extra points and two field goals.
Knox Central coach Scott Russell and running back/linebacker Jeffery Canady won the top awards with Russell as coach of the year and Canady as player of the year.
Bell County's Jonathan Burnett and Knox Central's John Shepherd shared the award as offensive lineman of the year.
Corbin's Matt Jewell was named best all purpose player. Corbin's Dakota Robertson and Knox Central's Armoni Wardlaw shared the award as defensive lineman of the year. Knox Central's Matthew Barger and Bell County's Tyler Green were selected as the winners of the defensive back of the year award.
WIlliamsburg coach Jerry Herron and quarterback Dalton Sizemore captured the top two honors in the A-2A category as coach and player of the year, respectively.
Harlan's Ty Saragas was selected as quarterback of the year and Dakota Morris shared the award as offensive back of the year with Pineville's Andrew Douglas. Harlan's Eric Young was named kicker/punter of the year. Other award winners included WIlliamsburg's Jefferson Patrick as linebacker of the year, WIlliamsburg's Skyler Griffith as receiver of the year, Middlesboro's Tyler Prater and Austin Poindexter as co-defensive linemen of the year, WIlliamsburg's Cory Shelton as defensive back of the year, and Lynn's Camp's Aaron Mills as all purpose player of the year.
