I saw highlights from this game. Morris looks like a nice player. She's tall and seems to move well with the ball

Bell shaping up as one of the better teams in 13th. Morris is trying to show she is the best player.

Surprised Harlan kept it this close.

Me too.
I was thinking Bell had worked its way up to the upper echelon of the region with Clay and Whitley.
I think Corbin, Harlan County and South Laurel are in the next group.
After that, it's wide open with Barbourville, Harlan, KC, North, Lynn Camp, Williamsburg, Middlesboro and Pineville.
Only Jackson, OBI and Red Bird are in the bottom group.

It seems in girls bball, if your team relies on one player to do all the scoring, you run into problems some nights, which shouldnt be surprising because anything morris has an off night, Bell could be beaten by a lot of teams.
I will be interested to see how well Bell performs if Morris pick up 3 fouls in the first qtr or something of that nature.
As far as the grouping, your right on. We will see if Whitley is for real mondy when they go to Clay. I think Bell, HC, Corbin, and South all have fair chances to make a run.
After that, theres a huge drop off IMO.

Regardless of who is the best team, there is no question on who is the best player.

I love when you post, it always makes me laugh.

Harlan will have games where they are competitive and games where the get blown out. Will be very inconsistent. They are very young and will be really good in a couple of years. I think they play 2 8th graders, 2 fresh 2 soph and 1 jr.

To think or say any other way than who the best in the 13th is, will make you look like a parent or homer. I am not a parent of a player in the 13th region, and I am not a rocket scientist either so the best player in the 13th region must be fairly simple to figure out.

I never disagreed with you.
I simply said your past make me laugh, and they do.
I think the best players will step up come tourney time.
And not a rocket scientist? I cant believe it.

It's funny how "Run it Up the Gut" makes snide comments about players, then tries to say he didn't say it when confronted about it. This guy has a serious problem, and reminds me of a certain coach who worships Brandi Smith and thinks he is the master of the mind game. Some people have to make themselves feel powerful by screwing with other people,so I would just let him run his mouth, he has no credibility around here.

Runitupthegut I am sorry if I disappoint you in not being a rocket scientist. However I am much smarter than you when it comes to basketball and it shows......

Run along now little fellas...
If your going to accuse me of making "snide" comments about players, then back it up by quoting the post or have yours removed. Im sure your 12 post has garnered tons of credibility around here:zzz:
lillianhingdjnfkneporker, yes I know. Your insights to the game are nothing short of amazing.
Whats funny is that at the end of all of this, the play of the players i have mentioned are the ones doing the best, while there team is winning. It would be different if i was saying something that wasn't true.
The stats dont lie. Look them up scientist.

Morris might score 30 against Whitley.
But it doesnt help when Whitley wins and the final score looks something like 64-32.
With Craig back, who played wonderful against Clay i might add, IMO, there the favorites to win region. Except for Whitley and Clay, I dont see any other team having the slightest chance.
Just my opinion.

Whitley and Clay are the favorites, but I think Bell and Harlan County have a chance.
I don't always agree with Run It Up the Gut, but at least he talks about several subjects. Some of you just seem to have an agenda focused on one player. It gets very old and predictable.

Have I ever said anything about who is gonna win the 13th? Have I ever said that Whitley is not a good team? Am I on here talking about anything other than who the best player is? Have I said the two guards from Whitley or Craig is not very good players?
All I said was Morris was the best player in the region and while gutless wont admit to it he baits wizzard in every post, except his last one. I will say this, if Whitley dont win the region this year the coach, which should have been fired long ago for not winning, should be fired on the spot and not let retire.
The guards are NAIA at best. Craig will go low D1. Clay girls are NAIA at best also. Morris is a major D1 player. Whats hard to figure out about that?

Im just curious as to what school you recruit for since you know so much about it. Ive seen countless girls basketball players from this area who are really good and are talked about all year and seen as going to some major college when they end up at Cumberland or Union.
My only point is if you take one of these Whitley players and put them on Bells team, they would be doing the same thing Morris is doing. She has no help. Whitley is a team that continually has somebody different step up.
12-14-2012, 12:54 PM
They cannot do what Morris is doing, they are not at that level. Granted they are good high school players, but not of the caliber player Morris is. Not close. I will remind you of all this when signing day takes place. Problem is you will be nowhere to be found.
How many offers do they have? I want names, real offers. I guess you are smarter than the college coaches. Time to put up or shut up.

I've never once argued that Morris wasn't a major Division I prospect. The most obvious difference between her and the Whitley guards is her height. She can also shoot and handle the ball, which makes her potential so high.
Run it Up the Gut is right about prospects who end up at an NAIA school, but I'm pretty positive that won't happen to Morris because of that size and the fact her dad is a coach and understands the process and has had her at all the summer camps to be noticed by college coaches and the people who make those lists that lillian keeps quoting.
As I pointed out earlier, college potential is not the sole basis for ranking high school players.
I agree with lillian's ratings on college potential, except for Madden and Craig. I think Madden is the more likely player to go to a small Division I school. She's a more versatile/skilled player at this point, from what I've seen.
I also disagree that Run it up the Gut will be gone when Morris signs. He's always here.

The only concern I have about Morris is will she be able to step up to the physical play of D-1 competition. She needs some weight to be able to absorb the type of punishment she will face. She seems to have everything else to compete at that lvl.
I would like to point out that ANY young lady that signs to play at the next level should be considered good and successful. NAIA-D-1, it gets them a free college education. None of them, including Morris will make a living playing ball. We should be more focused on praising these young ladies rather than butting our heads against the wall about who is or isnt D-1.
I can see several players who can or will sign this season to play next year at the college lvl. Lets see if we can be unbiased and see how many we can name.

From what I've been told by someone close to the family....Craig is getting alot of D-1 attention, so I guess we will all find out who is correct on College signing day next year. Then we will see how well several of you can judge talent.
12-14-2012, 05:40 PM
I agree if you can play at the next level you are doing much better than most do. I will have to look at Madden again this year again and I will look closer and then give my opinion. Craig does what Craig does and alot of coaches will take that. She, like Morris play summer ball on a big stage. People notice. Coaches notice. I think you guys should go watch a little closer......
