Congrats to Coach Herron and Black. Congrats to Jacob Jeffers.
#3
How Somerset dominates their district and most of 2A, yet fails to get anyone on this list year after year is crazy!
#4
Congrats to all.

No offense to coach Parson's, but how do you get district coach of the year with only one win in your district?

Congrats to everyone.

No disrespect but Jordan Olinger's name should be on that list.

I agree 210%

Congrats to all the recipients. A lot of good kids left out I am sure. A little surprised at a few of the choices, shocked at one, but hey, we all have different opinions.
#8
Congrats to Justin! Hopefully this help lifts his spirits as he can no longer be on the field of battle with the boys. This way JJ gets his recognition if we play for state next Friday! Thrilled to hear that!
#9
Parsons won last year with 0 district wins!
#10
I fail to understand how a coach of a team that went 2-8, did not win a district game, did not make the playoffs, and had wins over teams at least 2 classes lower could have been named District Coach of the Year. Can someone explain that?
#11
Who was that wise one?
#12
I do agree Derossett should have won though!
#13
Congrats coach Black.
Definitely the biggest turn around in district 8.

Terry Brown, Pendleton County Class 4A district 7

Wondering that myself.

Who and how are these picked? Some of these are on the verge of ridiculous.

For real!

Congrats Ty Saragas, very deserving. A class act all around!

What a joke and complete sham these awards are.

Where do I start?

First they give COY in one district to a coach that lost everyone of his district games and no regional wins. Then in another joke they don't give Borchers with Cooper the Coy award for that district. He only had the best record in the district with a 9-1 reg season record, but goes into the playoffs and wins regional championship and now headed to the state finals in 5A after winning 4 straight playoff road games and beating #1 and 2 seeds throughout the playoffs so far. But instead the they give the COY award to a coach who only won 1 district game and limped into the playoffs as the 4 seed as well as finishing the season with a losing record.

The awards are a joke, if coaches aren't going to actually vote for the most deserving then do us all a favor and don't vote at all, you make a mockery of the awards and you should be ashamed of yourselves.
#21
It should be noted that the Coaches in each district vote on these. They vote for Coach of the Year and Player of the Year. No one else gets to vote. Secondly winning doesn't necessarily mean that a guy is a good Coach. Stats don't always mean that they were the best player. If you have a problem with these awards consult your high schools coach.
#22
Sometimes, when you out score your district opponents 156-0, the other coaches don't vote for the best coach (Kevin Wallace) or the best player (Nacarius Fant) of the year. Smile

Fixed it for you

Wise one Wrote:Terry Brown, Pendleton County Class 4A district 7

i take back my sympathy vote for Terry, anyone that knows him and knows Pendleton County's situation would understand what he's dealing with. Getting 2 wins, let alone fielding a team at Pendleton is incredible
#25
The coaches who vote know a whole heck of a lot more than any of us that just show up and watch on friday nights. There are a lot of coaches out there that are in some tough spots and just because they don't win a bunch of games doesn't mean they are doing bad jobs. All these players and coaches are very deserving. No sense in taking shots at others.
#26
Before blasting everyone you have to realize if a coach is not a member of the association they or their player cannot win. Not all coaches are members. Also I know for a fact that all coaches will not vote. Coaches cannot vote for themself or their player. I know in 1 district last year only 1 coach voted.:thanks:
#27
Coach Johnny Hines of Pulaski county won the district and went to the regional championship game with a freshmen laden team. How does the guy who finished 2nd and got beat by Pulaski at home win that award. Absurd if you ask me.:lame:

Don't understand, Somerset's Sr. Class has never lost to a District Team in those 4 years. Yet Coach Lucas and his players have been overlooked year after year. Coaches you should be ashamed of the way you have treated this Man and the Somerset players.

After seeing how they've voted, I doubt it.

:howdy:I bet these coaches would vote if it was a $1000.00 fine.shame on you coaches.:thats funny why wouldn't a coach not want to be a member.then what are they a member of kma :moon:club just vote.Confusedmoke:
