Former SEC Player of the Day
Tim Tebow, Florida QB

While he spent his freshman year splitting snaps, eventual career highlights at Florida include winning the Heisman Trophy in 2007, leading the team to a BCS championship in 2008, and a 13â1 2009 season. The Gators coaches selected him as a team captain in 2008 and 2009, and he is the only three-time recipient of the Gators' most valuable player award, having been chosen by his teammates in 2007, 2008 and 2009.

Past SEC Team of the Day
1998 Tennessee Volunteers
[Image: http://smokeys-trail.com/Six/1998-nation...mpions.jpg]
The 1998 team took advantage of its opportunties to win the national championship, making up for the loss of three NFL first-round draft choices from 1997 and a season-ending knee injury to tailback Jamal Lewis in the Auburn game. The Vols won nailbiters against Syracuse, Florida and Arkansas and took a fourth consecutive win over Alabama.
The Vols ascended to the No. 1 spot after the Alabama-Birmingham game and proved equal to the task by defeating Arkansas, Kentucky, Vanderbilt, Mississippi State and Florida State en route to the national crown. Al Wilson was an All-America selection at linebacker and placekicker Jeff Hall became UT's and the SEC's all-time leading scorer. Quarterback Tee Martin guided the Vols steadily all season and set NCAA passing records for consecutive completions and percentage in the South Carolina game.

The Georgia Bulldogs
[Image: http://grfx.cstv.com/schools/geo/graphics/spacer.gif]
After losing the first two games of the season last year - a lot of folks were saying that head coach Mark Richt was on the way out. Almost two full seasons later, the Bulldogs are on the way to playing in their second straight SEC Title Game and are currently sitting at #3 in the polls. If they win out the season they will play for the BCS National Title Game - one of only 3 teams with the ability to do just that.

Former SEC Player of the Day
Bo Jackson, Auburn RB
[Image: http://www.smoothharold.com/wp-content/u...ackson.jpg]
As one of the most recognized players in college football history, "Bo knows" football. And, baseball".
Bo Jackson was probably the greatest pure athlete in SEC football history. Arguably, he was simply the best athlete in any league -- ever.
At Auburn, Bo broke virtually every rushing record. He was a two-time All-American; all-time leading rusher; and the third player in SEC history to rush more than 4,000 yards in a career (4,303 to be exact). Capping off his time at Auburn (1982-1985), he won the 51st Heisman Trophy in 1985.
Bo was the first player selected in the 1986 NFL draft, by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. But, he rejected their offer and elected to play baseball (his first love) instead.
Jackson signed with the Kansas City Royals, and played 51 games in the minor leagues, before getting the call up to the big leagues. He eventually was named to Major League Baseball's All-Star Team.
In 1987, Bo was drafted in the 7th round of the NFL draft, by the Oakland Raiders. He was eligible because he never signed with Tampa Bay. Bo eventually became an all-pro running back at Oakland.
Bo Jackson was the first athlete to be named to the "All-Star Team" in both football and baseball.

but he's got 30 TDs and over 3,000 yards so I figured he could get a day on here.

Past SEC Team of the Day
2004 Auburn Tigers
[Image: http://img.printstown.com/sportingnews/2..._LARGE.JPG]
The 2004 Auburn Tigers backfield might be one of the most talented in college football history. Ronnie Brown, Carnell Williams (Kenny Irons was redshirting) and Jason Campbell led the Tigers to an unblemished record. Only two teams stayed within 10 points of Auburn during the regular season (LSU 10-9, Alabama 21-13) while the three-headed backfield pounded opposing defenses. While Auburn beat four ranked teams, it missed out on the BCS national title game to an undefeated Oklahoma team. The Sooners got crushed by USC while Auburn snuck past Virginia Tech to win the Sugar Bowl. To this day, Tigers fan rue the missed opportunity of 2004.
This is the last year that the SEC didn't win the title - I know we had 3 undefeated teams that year but c'mon - these guys deserved a title shot

The Vanderbilt Commodores
[Image: http://grfx.cstv.com/photos/schools/vand...36688.jpeg]
I know...I know.
It's Vandy...
Typically one of the laughing stocks of the SEC - for years this has been a game that everyone in the SEC marked on their calendar as a win - that simply isn't the case anymore. They took South Carolina the distance in the first game of the season and have finished at a respectable 5-3 in conference this year. With Tennessee rebuilding, expect Vandy to only get better over the next few years. Vanderbilt also has very strict academic standards that hampers their ability to recruit. They shouldn't be competing, but they are.

He hasn't done anything amazing...
but he gets my respect for not wanting the redshirt and not wanting the medical redshirt when he got hurt in his first game.
Plus he's homegrown.
