I will make a special effort to shop at Walmart this Friday and hope others will do the same.
Allegedly, some unionites are going to picket Walmart and Walmart employees are encouraged to join them. Walmart, of course, is nonunion.
Walmart has filed a complaint with the NLRB but the Obama dominated agency will not get around to making any ruling until after the weekend. Is anyone surprised? Also, it is argued by liberals that the "gatherings" are legal because of a right for individuals to assemble.
Not true in this case because the Walmart stores are on private, not public, property. Personally, I would encourage Walmart to fire each and every employee disrupting the flow of commerce.
If Walmart is such a negative place to work, let them seek employment elsewhere. Of course, the fact is that most of them have no skills that are marketable. They would be better served if they appreciate that Walmart is supplying them with a paycheck, After all, they are easily replaceable. On the other hand, they can join the ever-increasing millions of others on the handout payroll.

^ You would. They get paid minimum wage, and have to work tomorrow, 12 hour shifts with a 30 minute lunch, at least here in Paintsville. Walmart is breaking KY law that says you have to receive a break every four hours. I can see someone like you supporting businesses that are breaking labor laws. On their regular 10 hour days, they get a 15 minute lunch in Paintsville. How well are your labor laws working in Paintsville? This is what happens when you don't have a union, people get screwed, even to the point of illegal stuff. They can't say anything, because they lose their job.

If you know people that work at Walmart they will tell you it's like his every holiday. Long hours, no lunch breaks, min wage, and fired if you open your mouth.

I despise and abhor Walmart and everything it stands for. They have been in the business if crushing small businesses for over 25 years, and I try to avoid that place by all means necessary because of that. Granted, there are times that I have to go there, because they have things I cant buy anywhere else, but it seriously burns my soul to buy anything from them.

I'm too poor to shop elsewhere, lol. However, I NEVER get out on Black Friday after my tussle with a dude a few years before I started preaching, lol.

Ok a little mis information on this thread...No one at Walmart makes minimum wage starting wage at all stores is above that. Avg wage in KY is around $11 per hour, many long term hourly workers making 35K and more...
Managers are working 12 hours with 1/2 lunch Thursday but most if not all others are working 8 hours with 1/2 lunch which the store is providing.
Walmart has been open everyday except Christmas for as long as they have had Supercenters...only difference is that longer term employees in the past were off on Thursday and didn't care that newbies had to work...now that some of the 15-25 length of service people are working they suddenly have a problem with it.
Walmart isn't perfect but would you rather have union job with Hostess this week or a non-union job at Walmart.

She has to work 12 hours, with only a 1/2 lunch, no breaks. You got any proof for your stats? They would just rather have a job that follows labor laws.

I believe that is called "heresay". It is absolutely worthless as evidence of anything.

Ah, the breath of fresh air blows through. You'll never make me believe people at Walmart don't get even one break in a 12 hour shift. The older ones could never hold their water that long, LOL.

If these Walmart workers have it as bad as TheRealVille claims, why do they continue to work there? Most likely, Walmart is giving them the best situation for which they are "qualified". They can't do any better because they have no marketable skills. That is part of the concept of supply and demand. Walmart type workers are in large supply and, because such unskilled workers are literally a dime a dozen, there is no demand for them anywhere else. Maybe, they should appreciate Walmart for putting food on their tables and clothes on their backs.
I will look forward to seeing them Friday.

Indeed, I would and will do so. I may well shop at Walmart in both northern Kentucky and the Cincinnati area. There are plenty of choices around here. I believe in supporting free enterprise and capitalism. Those principles used to be the backbone of this country before your Democrat giveaway of handouts for votes scheme took over.

Didn't you know, every last worker in the United States should be a union member? Further, they should all make great money, have government controlled health insurance, Christmas bonuses, and any manager that dare cross any worker should be severely disciplined. Equality of results, not equality of opportunity. History turned on it's head---"Ask not what you can do for your country, ask what your country can do for you."

Walmart has shut down more local businesses than any administration can think of.
But yet you support them.
But yet you support them.

Do you think that the average pay of employees in the businesses that could not compete with Walmart offered their employees better pay and benefits? If Walmart did not exist, then Amazon.com and Target would fill the void. I do most of my shopping at Amazon. The local businesses that existed before Walmart could not touch the selection or price that Amazon provides and most of them also failed to provide the same level of customer support.
But yet you support them.

People bitching about minimum wage workers being treated so poorly....waahhh. If you don't like your job, leave it. I think just about anybody could do better than a minimum wage job. nicker:

Obama's supporters remind me of Christmas lights. They all hang together; half of them don't work; and the ones that do, aren't all that bright.

Do you eat McDonald's, then you support the system that shutdown 99.9% of all local "Mom & Pop" Restaurants in America
Do you buy your morning soft-drink or Mountain Dew at the local Speedway. Then you support the closing of 99.9% of the local Full Service Gas Stations in America. Plus, if you take your car to Tire America, Midas, Jiffy Lube or any vehicle specialty shop, you support the system that shut down the local street corner service station.
Grocery shop at Krogers? Then you eliminated the local butcher shop!
Do you do your Christmas shopping online, then you have completely eliminated the local "5 & Dime" (which you probably don't come from the era that even knows what that is).
Do you have one of them fancy smartphones whose services reach the entire country no matter where you travel to, then you have supported the virtual elimination of the Local Bell telephone companies that ONLY serviced your area.
Do you buy materials at Home Depot or Lowes, then you have virtually eliminated your local lumber yard.
Come on people, times change - NO, Consumers Change. And, the consumer dictates what business MUST be. My wife, along with her family and friends will be partaking in the sales that start tonight, and then be out all day tomorrow. My son will be working at Dunhams Sports for his 12 hour shift on Friday, and yes, he will get a break and will be paid his slightly higher than minimum wage. And me, I'll avoid it all and sit on my couch recovering from overeating. But the consumer has changed what retailers MUST provide. And it sure is hell was NOT Wal-Mart that started the elimination the local mom and pops. And someday, if Wal-Mart does not provide what the consumer WANTS, then Wal-Mart will cease to exist as well.

She never said they weren't allowed to go to the bathroom, she said they only got a lunch break, which is still breaking KY law. Bathroom breaks don't count as a break under law.
