Bourbon County @ Belfry 11/23

Jack Lambert Wrote:I'm not from paris,i'm from Boyle county.i'll probably spend the day rabbit hunting friday.will this game be on ihigh.

I would think ihigh is a negative.

There could be a chance WYMT chooses to broadcast it as the Game of the Week. The other option is that piketv.com broadcasts the game now that Pikeville's season has came to an end.

Austin Hatfield changed that to 7 yards and get up if you can.:

AAhhh the good ole days! I was blessed to be on that team, was just one of the little kids, but a part of it none the less. Nothing better than hearing the cleats clack on the concrete.

I've yet to see CAM as crazy as Vipperman was in '04 during the Prestonsburg and Russell games.

I hope it is Friday.

I would venture to say those where the two biggest crowds in Belfry history.

People were litrrally climbing trees on a hillside to watch those games. Never seen anything like that. The fire marshal had to be a Belfry fan because capacity was an after thought.

Besides the game itself, the thing I remember the most about the pregame were the tunnels by both Belfry and Pburg and the coin toss where fans were literally peeking over the refs and players shoulders to see who won it.

Here's a few highlights of Bourbon County's Kentayvus Hopkins.

i know it takes more than one player to win,but if Belfry dont wrap this kid up,he will be gone in a minute..he dont look that big,so maybe they can hit him clean but hard and shake him up a bit..

 The Pburg game was crazy crowded. Use to be a real rivalry against them. Doug Howard was a beast in that game. Most viscous stiff arm I have ever seen.

espically the last game there against Russell
I was at that Russell game...it was crazy crowded and intense!!

Yelp! Russell brought a big crowd, plus everybody else in eastern Ky. lol. We stayed till they turned out the lights. Never will forget Coach Mickey pulling the switch. It was kinda bittersweet. Sad to see it, but looking forward to the new school for the kids.

I totally agree on that stiff arm. He knocked the Pburg defender through their own sideline and into the fence. By far one of if not the best all around back with speed and strength to play on the Pirate football team.

Big, big fan and so was his dad before him.
Belfry by 6
I to was lucky enough to play on the old field 86-90 back to back state runner ups 86-87. I was very proud to have played for the Big Red Nation. Now I just hope coach Haywood stays around long enough to coach my son. Hes going into the 7th grade and big as me now and has been playing sense Kindergarden. This is one of the best things coach Haywood has done is to take big interest In our young ones. He knows with out them there is no Belfry. Everyone from K-8 has been running most of the high school plays and some of the warm ups. This should make everything easier on the kids as they advance and better on the high school coaches.
I am going to the game Friday, and as an unbiased observer making the extremely long voyage down to the cool side of the mountain, I did a little research and found that BELFRY HAS A FIGHT SONG! Here is a little jig

"Cheer, cheer for Ole' Belfry High, Come on boys let's get in and fight. Send your falling cheers on High, Shake down the thunder from the sky. Whether the odds be great or small, Ole'Belfry High will win overall. While our loyal sons go marching, Onward to Victory. Rah!! Rah!!! V-I-C-T-O-R-Y Victory, Victory, Belfry High! We are the Pirates, We're the Pirates of Belfry High! We will defeat you, And we'll even tell you why: We are the P-I-R-A-T-E-S We will fight to the end, We will never give in. We're the Pirates of Belfry High!"

I noticed there are a ton of RAH RAH! and V-I-C-T-O-R-Y! I am just curious, since Bayside has such a steep honored tradition when it comes to flute/tuba blowing, will the Belfry band play? I really get my kicks when the band starts playing. Like I will listen to band fight songs the entire trip to the game.

Will they play? Please tell me they will play! The cam just won't be the same if they don't play! Like if the Bourbon band plays too I will literally go onto the field and start conducting. This means an awfully lot to me. Somebody has to know!
Belfry wins 35-14.

The band will play...and hopefully will play the fight song a lot Big Grin.... but with respect to the dear ole Belfry band...you may not hear them.

My youtube searches for Bourbon revealed more band videos then football videos, I fear the Pirate band is going to be a farrrrr cry from what Colonel fans associate with a pep band unfortunately.

I don't know how it's gotten these days. During EKU and My time at BHS our band was pretty dwindled down. Though I can remember a time in the late 80's early 90's when the marching band was something to behold.
37-29 Bourbon.

I once was able to somehow convince someone to give me a headset to broadcast a game at Bourbon Co. for Ihigh one time. It was Bourbon v. Paris and I think half the crowd was there to see the band! It was such a touching performance that I had a hard time controlling my emotions through the second half of the game. I literally broke down in tears at one point. It was emotional. That's the kind of emotion I want Friday Night. I want to be brought to tears with the sound of the flute. I want tears to well up with the sight of the color guard.

There will be a plate of food waiting on you at the tailgate, come see us. lololol

Will you have corn chips? By golly no tailgate is complete without corn chips!
We I was in school our band, majorettes, and flag girls got kicked off the field everywhere we went.
I can't wait to watch this game. My cousin who played basketball for Magoffin Lady Hornets on the regional championship team in 2006 is a substitute teacher at bourbon county right now. I think she's gonna make the drive and come watch too! But I gotta root for Belfry, them being a mountain team and all haha. But if the Pirates lose, I will definitely cheer for Bourbon County!
I wasn't in the band at Bayside, mostly because it was infiltrated with geeks with pocket protectors. We were able to get the school store away from them, but geez the band was a no go! That's why I started the Zach Attack!

As a first time visitor to the CAM, are men allowed to wear skinny jeans there?

We will try to get you corn chips. Of course you are, we are friendly people. You may get called a few names, but hey, you're probably used to it if you wear them often
