I've no problem with Belfry, you guys have a great program, and great tradition.i hope the winner of this game wins the state title,i'm tired of seeing it go to louisville.just giving my opinion on Bourbon they are a very good football team, they are loaded at the skilled posistions.this is a game i'd love to see,but it's to far for me to drive,i watched you guys play Garrard last year and was very impressed with Belfry and thier fans, very passionate bunch of people about football.good luck to both teams,i'll be rooting for the winner in Bowling green.

I'm really looking forward to seeing Bourbon Co play this week at the CAM. From early indications it should be a very good game between two good teams.
It isn't that long of a trip, you can make it from Paris in under 3 hrs. Come on down Jack and we'll save you some turkey and dressing.

I will say if Hopkins makes it to the line backers he will have a big suprize waiting out there. I've seen these fast running back before and when these boy put the hit on them its over. Belfrys "D" will pop you good they play hard and they hit very hard. Belfry will as always start out slow and then by the 2QT the will own the field. They always start slow so they can fill you out make some changes then if Bourbon dont have enough kids to paly both sides of the ball Belfry will slowly wallow you into the truff. Belfry 40 Bourbon with 7 in the first QT and 7 in the 4th QT . Happy thanksgiving

I would say you are right Jack. They definitely try to get in the heads of other team's fans no doubt.

Going to be honest. I think Bourbon scares me more than Breathitt did. We all know Haywood nor the players will overlook what appears to be a very talented Colonels team.
Not ready to make a full analysis just yet. (Watching some Bourbon games first.) From what I have seen so far the Defense is quick and like to make some noise in the backfield. Their lines look a bit small and I have to wonder if they can handle the physicality that Belfry plays with.

And how'd that game turnout?

Those clips on Hopkins were great. He's a tremendous back.
11-18-2012, 12:27 PM
Hopkins reminds me a little of Ace Wales because when you watch him on film it doesn't really look like he's running fast and not really trying but yet he seems to be getting farther and farther away from defenses. I'm not saying he's as good as Ace, I'm just saying they look similar on film.
11-18-2012, 01:04 PM
If my memory serves me right, Belfry was the only team to hit ace wales and he didnt get back up. so with that being said when Belfry hits him, he wont run as hard the rest of the game. No one hits like the angry red defense.
11-18-2012, 01:09 PM
^yeah, he can take a hit, he's not one of those pretty running backs, that avoids contact. Like I said he can give and receive, I thinkBelfry will surprise on how physical he actually is
11-18-2012, 01:14 PM
Watched the vids of Hopkins. Very Impressive!
Belfry's front 3 will have to hold their own against the Bourbon o-line and our LB's better tackle well. If Hopkins gets to the corner, Belfry doesn't have anyone who can run him down.

Belfry does Friday nights right. That we are belfry chant can be chilling. If you get the chance you should go. Pond creek is one of the coolest places to watch a game.

He's seen games where he's taken 1 or 2 hits and kept on trucking. Friday night he goes against a ball club that prides itself on hitting you hard not for 1 or 2 plays, or 1 or 2 quarters, for every single minute of every quarter of the game. While I am VERY impressed with Bourbon after watching, I still remain they are going against something like they have not seen before. It should be a VERY good football game.
11-18-2012, 01:55 PM
I have been scared in a couple games, but when these boys have to play both sides all night they normally slow down fast. I will say the Hopkins boy is tuff but from what I seen they have only played 1 5a (Madison) and 1 4a (Harrison Co.) witch where blow outs. I seen where they played some 2a's and 1a's. These schools dont have the numbers, it takes big numbers to play with Belfry. So if Bourbon has to play both ways its going to be a bad night for them. Belfry has enough talent to spread out on both sides. Its also hard to win in Cam stadiam the fans are die hard fans and it gets loud. But I say good luck to the both of them

If Belfry kept Trent (one of the best players in the mountains) in check, then they will keep the hopkins kid in check too.

Man... I can't wait till Friday night...7:30...Cam Stadium packed out in a sea of RED...Just doesn't get any better...WE ARE BELFRY!!!

FOR ALL BOURBON COUNTY FANS OR CKY FANS MAKING THE TRIP
First and foremost congratulations on reaching the State Semi-Finals. Thanksgiving Weekend Football is hard to beat, and it is a testament to your players, staff, and community to be 13-0 and going strong. On behalf of Belfry fans on here I want to welcome you to Haywood Field @ CAM Stadium Friday and wish you luck and safe travels.
CAM Stadium is located on campus at Belfry High School. The physical address is 27678 U.S. 119 Belfry, KY 41514. You are looking at approximately 156 miles and a 3 hour drive from Paris. The stadium is impossible to miss. It will be on your right hand side off US 119 North.
[Image: http://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-sn...7133_n.jpg]
CAM Stadium is widely regarded as one of the finest football facilities in the State of Kentucky. There is separate, ample seating for the Visitors. There are two large parking lots at the HS, as well as a third smaller lot typically used for bus parking. Anticipate a standing room only crowd Friday, if you are arriving close to kickoff the parking lots will be full and you will either need to park alongside the highway or at the nearby Food City. CAM Stadium is handicap accesible with specific entry points and seating on the main concourse of the home side (the stadium is set in a bowl and requires steps to access the visitor side).
Belfry is renown for it's pre-game tailgates and a very large contingent of early arriving fans. If you want to do your own tailgating you are more than welcome. The primary Belfry tailgate occurs in the parking lot behind the home bleachers between the baseball and softball fields. The people who organize it are very accomodating to visiting fans and if you are respectful they typically are more than willing to share their home cooking,,, and trust me it is tasty and ample.
If tailgating is not your thing, there are options to grab food before the game not far from the stadium or along the way. Coming North on 119 you will not have many options, but within a couple miles there are several fast food options, included but not limited to:
McDonalds
Captain D's
Arby's
Hardee's
Pizza Hut
KFC
Taco Bell
Dairy Queen
Wendy's
There is also a Wal-Mart less than a half mile from the Stadium if you forget a blanket, need a cushioned seat (the bleachers are aluminum), or need to buy supplies for your own tailgate.
If a sit down restaurant is more your style, you are limited with options in the Belfry area. My suggestion would be to eat in the Pikeville/Coal Run area before you turn onto 119N. There are several options you will see as you come down US23.In addition, if you choose not to make the 3 hour trip back at night for whatever reason, your best options for lodging will be in Pikeville as well.
If you want to make a trip out of it and have time to kill, remember Belfry sits right in the middle of where the Hatfield & McCoy Feud took place that was highlighted with the History Channel in the past year. A quick internet search will allow you to get GPS locations of most of the significant sites.
Belfry's games are always live streamed. Typically 93.1 WDHR (http://www.wdhr.com) carries Belfry, but with UK basketball on I fully expect it to instead me on 96.5 WXCC (http://www.coalcountry965.com). Bobby Norman and former longtime Belfry DC Coach Steve Mickey do the play by play and really do a sensational job with it. I personally think it is one of the best crews in the state for calling a game. They may not completely unbiased, but they try to be fair and they give sensational insight throughout the game.
East Kentucky Broadcasting (the parent company of the radio stations that carry Belfry as well as all other local teams) broadcasts a show called "The Sports Guys". This week it will be on at 5:30 PM on Tuesday and you should be able to watch it live on http://www.piketv.com
Have a safe trip and a Happy Thanksgiving!

Check out this video from a long time ago. This will always be home to any Belfry football player that got the opportunity to walk down that ramp and on to that historic field.

Look at the mud and water on that field. What football was meant to be played in. I HATE TURF!!!!

Those are very kind words EKU. We definitely try to keep it fair while still showing support for the Pirates who we represent. For anyone bringing their headphones, we should be on 96.5 WXCC with Football Friday Night at 645 and play-by-play at 730. BTW, great introduction of CAM and all the essentials for our out of town guests.
