Coach: Chris Gaither (Second year).
Last season: 24-11, lost to Oldham County 50-40 in the Eighth Region Tournament final.
Player to watch: F Dez Marshall. The 6-foot-4 senior was an overwhelming choice for preseason regional Player of the Year honors after averaging 17 points and five rebounds last season. An improved perimeter game is expected to make Marshall even more of a scoring threat.

Player to watch: G David Levitch. The 6-0 senior enters his fourth year as a starter and is one of the top 3-point threats in the area, hitting nearly 43 percent last season while averaging 18.8 points a game. He will have to carry the load early because the Mustangs lost four starters.
Other top players: G Jordan Yates (Sr.); G Cash Cameron (Sr.); F. Adam Zimmerman (Sr.).
Outlook:North Oldham has a new coach in Chris Stobaugh, who replaced David Henley after Henley moved to Eastern. Levitch, one of the region's best players last season, will carry the Mustangs in scoring but needs help from backcourt mates Jordan Yates and Cash Cameron, who saw varsity time last season. Andrew Zimmerman, a 6-5 senior, will help inside.
OLDHAM COUNTY
Coach: Jason Holland (fourth year).
Last season: 31-6, lost to Scott County 56-43 in Sweet 16 semifinals.
Player to watch: G Sam Gruber. He averaged 11 points as a junior and was one of the state's top 3-point shooters at 49.7 percent in addition to shooting nearly 90 percent from the free-throw line.
Other top players: F Jacob Kopp (Sr., 10 ppg); F Garrett Masters (Sr., 9 ppg).
Outlook: The Colonels are coming off a banner season, winning a second straight regional title and reaching the semifinals of the state tournament. Coach Jason Holland has three key players back in starters Sam Gruber, who may be the region's best all-around guard, and forwards Jacob Kopp and Garrett Masters. The 6-2 Kopp averaged 10 points and six rebounds last season and was named to the all-tourney team at the Sweet 16. The 6-3 Masters hit for nine points and six rebounds a game as the sixth man. Finding depth to work with those three will be the key to the Colonels' year.
SHELBY COUNTY
Coach: Jason Couch (first year).
Last season: 6-25, lost to Collins 88-72 in the first round of 30th District Tournament.
Player to watch: F Michael Barry, who averaged 10.7 points and six rebounds last season, is the Rockets' top returning scorer and one of their few experienced players.
Other top players: G Kambron Bruner (Sr., 1.6 ppg); G Kip Moore (Jr., 7.2 ppg); F James Gordon (Fr., 1.9 ppg).
Outlook: After winning just six games last season, the Rockets are hoping to improve under first-year coach Jason Couch, who posted a 203-86 record in nine seasons at Eastern. Barry will provide scoring and much-needed senior leadership. The Rockets also can look to junior guard Kip Moore. Freshman forward James Gordon leads a group of underclassmen that will have to contribute if the Rockets are to get better.
SOUTH OLDHAM
Coach: Steve Simpson (15th year).
Last season: 20-10, lost to Collins 69-63 in the first round of Eighth Region Tournament.
Player to watch: G Shae Goodlett. A 6-1 swingman, Goodlett led the Dragons at 14.3 points and 7.4 rebounds a game last season. Like most of the South players, he is an excellent 3-point shooter, hitting nearly 40 percent, in addition to being able to drive to the basket.
Other top players: C Jack Sherry (Sr., 6.5 ppg); PG Mitch Cattina (Sr., 6.8 ppg); G Matthew Haysley (Sr., 8.3 ppg); G Devonte Jones (Sr., 7.6 ppg); F Kyle Young (Jr., 8.6 ppg); G Michael Haysley (Sr., 6.2 ppg).
Outlook: The Dragons are definite regional contenders under veteran coach Steve Simpson. With all five starters back and two key reserves, South will use its always dangerous and freewheeling 3-point attack to make up for a lack of size. Only 6-5 senior Jack Sherry is taller than 6-2, so the Dragons will use their depth and fast-paced offense to wear down opponents. Senior Shae Goodlett is a go-to player on offense, and six others all contributed more than six points a game last season. "We're a very experienced team, just not very big," Simpson said. "We should be a good shooting team and able to play kids in different spots."
SPENCER COUNTY
Coach: Jacob Barmore (ninth year).
Last season: 11-20, lost to Anderson County 64-44 in the first round of 29th District Tournament.
Player to watch: G Brandon Miller. The 6-0 senior has started for the Bears since the eighth grade and averaged a team-best 14 points last season.
Other top players: G Brennan Smith (Sr.), Bridger Knotts (Sr.); Alex Dennis (Sr.).
Outlook: The Bears will have to ride guards Brandon Miller and Brennan Smith if they expect to improve on last season's mark and challenge regional powers Collins and Anderson County to get out of the district.

The 8th will be good again. Probably come down to Collins, South Oldham, Oldham Co and Gallatin.
