Pulaski Co @ Harlan Co 11-16-2012
#1
Pulaski County travels to Coal Miners Memorial Stadium to Take on the Harlan County Black Bears. Who wins?
#2
HC by two TD's.
#3
Hc 35-14
#4
This will be Harlan County's third straight trip to the regional championship game. In 2010, the Black Bears beat Pulaski County at home to win region.
#5
This Pulaski team is very underrated and physical. Pulaski leaves Harlan alive 22-20
#6
HC will beat them as bad as they want to

Riley is a tough kid. When Jackson laid him out i thought for sure he was done tonight. That was a very hard hit. Most frosh dont get up from that.

PC seems to be playing solid football right now, but they dont have a D1 back to help them stay in the game like MS did. I believe Carson Whitehead will be back closer to 100% and will be more of a weapon running the ball in this game to add to their already potent rushing attack.

HC - 34 PC -14

Black Bears may be able to control the Maroons offense in this one. If Pulaski can control the clock and give their defense some rest they can stay with Halan. Easier said than done, however, if Harlan's secondary does not play well watch out for the upset. My prediction is HC 28 PC 17. Good luck to both teams.

There are two factors that's going to determine this game. First, our passing defense. I was impressed last night with Chitwood, he has really improved since he came back to play!! I wonder how good he would've been had he not been out most of the season with his shoulder injury. Also, Whitehead will be 100% next week and he is vital in our defense!! Two of the kids were sick tonight, I know Caldwell was playing with a fever and another kid was throwing up at half time!! The second factor is consistent officiating. Since we won last night, I hope I can say this without getting slammed..but that officiating crew was below average.....and I'm being kind. Two intentional grounds ignored, several off sides that weren't called and ball placement was a joke, in my opinion. One of the officials called Harris out at the 1 yard line on that lonnnng run he had, then Mr. White Hat comes over and calls it a TD!! MS coach ran on to the field to express his displeasure with a call, the official threw his flag and after the MS coach had his say, the flag was waved off. The official announced a side line warning; well that was the third side line warning for the night. It was just bad.
I know that HC deserved most of the penalties last night, but the game was just called inconsistently.

PC throws the ball well from what I saw against Whitley last night. Their QB looks strong and confident. Our QB did some impressive passing last night, too. And you can add his scrambling ability to the mix..wow!! I can't wait to see how many yards he had rushing last night.

All that being said, I think the game will be decided by one touchdown.

HC 36
PC 28

Pulaski fans need to watch for deer and elk on the road from Pineville, and I'm NOT kidding. Pay particuliar attention after crossing the Harlan Co line...Travel safely.

Go Black Bears!!!!!!

There are no onesiders once you get to this point in the season. This will be a great game with 2 different offensive styles. Can HC defend the pass? Can PC stop the run? I think it will be a chess match! Special teams could be a Hugh factor in this one! HC will have to get pressure on the QB. All said, HF advantage rules out and HC wins in a close game. Good luck to both teams. BUT, Go BEARS!

Agree on Elk and deer. Respectfully disagree on the hold call on Ely:biggrin:

2nd biennial Jeff Phillips bowl to be held at Coal Miners' Memorial Stadium.....

I predict a close win by the bears....and a not so close win by PC wives and moms...lol.

Agree, the kid laid him out and it sent a cringe in the crowd.

After the way Pulaski shut down the Whitley running attack I am going to say Harlan won't do any better.

Pulaski. 28
Harlan. 14

Plus apparently Harlan's defense isn't that good this year

Keep thinking that!

Should be a good game, the Black Bears started the season with Middleton being our only real threat, now Long is dangerous every time he touches the ball, Wilson has good speed, and now Bailey is coming into his own. The Bears best pass defense is pressuring the QB but the DB's have improved at turning around and finding the ball.

Our defense is big and physical too, we will give the Harlan offense a hard time.

I say we score at least 3 td from throwing and 2 running.

Nope...you don't respectfully disagree on the Ely holding call as that was NOT what I had in mind!!
Confusednicker:

I was thinking particuliarly of the holding call when one of our guys had gotten wiped out, was on the ground and reached up and grabbed a hold of the defensive man's hip pads..
Wink

The holding call on Ely was a joke, IMO.

Going to try to make the trip. Its a homecoming for my wife. Always good to see friends and family overbthere. Hopefully get to see the Maroons win another region title. It should be a classic.

I know that all of the Harlan Co faithful will probably disagree with everything that I have to say but, I respect the program and your opinions and I am willing to accept that. Pulaski Co is playing like a team with all senior and junior starters instead of having for the most part freshman and sophmores starting. This team has vastly improved from the beginning of the season until now and even from the start have been better than expected. Riley Hall is mature beyond his years to only be a freshman QB and the offense does have senior leadership and experience at key positions. On the defensive side of the ball, which normally has not been the Maroons strong point, they have been very impressive and have been improving every week. I do think that Harlan will be underestimating this team and their gonna be in for a very physical game! On the other hand Pulaski Co has never won in Harlan Co and you can't help but wonder if that will have any effect on the players mentally. The Black Bears as usual are a VERY physical team and it should be interesting. I know in years past that Harlan Co has been, for the most part, a one dimensional run team and you saw how that worked out for Whitley Co. With all that said, I think this will be a thrilling back and forth game that will not be decided until the very end! May even take overtime to decide this one. I do have to go with my heart in this one though!

Pulaski Co. - 35

Harlan Co. - 32

I am looking forward to tailgating with all of the Harlan Co faithful! I am really hoping that Filthy Animal makes some of her Fried Chicken!! Also, some Red Velvet cake from Granny Bear and then Mexican Cornbread from somebody. I always love seeing all of the Mama Bears!! I hope everyone traveling from Pulaski Co has a safe trip to and from and like everyone else has been saying, please lookout for the wildlife that may be on the road.
