Ashland @ Highlands - 11/9/12 - 4A Second Round
I think some of the things said have gotten carried away but I love the spirit and belief from our side. We will need this Loud and and proud attitude on Friday so everyone bring it to ft Thomas with you.

I agree with you. How many fans are you guessing will make the trip Friday?
T-CATS Wrote:Yes they have holes but they have Heart. Would love to have Jackson Baker and Watts to make it a little more even but you play with what you have. I dont care how many title we have or dont have we have TRADITION!!!!!

HEART?...I get so tired of hearing about one team having more heart than another. Any kid, with or without talent, has to have a ton of heart to dedicate four years of his life to playing football. Any more, football, along with most other sports, has become a year round pursuit. Every kid involved MUST have heart.

That being said, wouldn't a team with more players on the roster have more cumulative heart than the team with fewer players?Confusedhh:

TRADITION?...Let's take a look. Playoffs in Kentucky began in 1959, since then,

Highlands in Championship games (21-5) in 53 years
Average:
Appearance in championship game: 1 every 2.04 years
Victorious in championship games: 1 every 2.52 years

Ashland in Championship games (2-1) in 53 years
Average:
Appearance in championship game: 1 every 17.7 years
Victorious in championship games: 1 every 26.5 years

There are 14 teams that have 4 or more championships since 1959

Highlands has had 13 undefeated seasons since 1959...Ashland 0

Ashland travels well. I would say a couple hundred made the trip to Cov Cath a few years ago. In the past the school has taken student busses If enough of the students sign up. With this game being a Friday instead of Saturday I would say busses are likely. I would guess it would be a good crowd.
I don't believe Highlands success is do to recruiting. The coaches there have integrity and would not risk their reputation over a player here or there when they have a stable full of studs already. Highlands success recruits for itself.

Thank you for this useful information! :thanks:

For the record, both of these counties are in Kentucky (not Ohio) and Ft Thomas is located in Campbell County where 6 of 8 out of district tuition students playing football are coming from.
Highlands High School’s streak of consecutive postseason victories has now reached 26. Four more victories in 2012 will bring Highlands its sixth straight state football championship.

Wait.... Are you saying Elvis is not still alive and Bigfoot is not real? That's just going to far and just plain mean. 😱😱😱

Sorry to crush your hopes and dreams!
I will not say anything about Santa Claus or the Easter Bunny for fear of truly damaging you! It will be okay. Think happy thoughts.
There is no need to continue comparing the FTH program, history, and tradition with the Ashland program, history and tradition. There is nothing remotely significant to compare. FTH fans know this and so do Ashland fans. It won't change Friday night.

Exactly right. I don't care what these two teams did last week let alone 10 15 or 50 years ago. All that matters is how they perform on Friday.

This isnt Boyd County coming to visit you Friday night. Ashland also has a lot of talent on their team too. This team plays hard and will show up and give Highlands all they want and maybe more. I am sure every team FTH plays is gunning for them, its the biggest game on their schedule. That is the same for us. Ashland is the biggest game on everyones schedule too. The cocky posts about running clocks on Ashland is laughable. Their will be no running clock and Highlands better bring their A game or they will lose. See you Friday!!!!

Man I love your spirit. And this year I don't think highlands is good enough for a running clock. Now last year they were and next year they will put a running clock on everyone not named trinity. I hope highlands doesn't bring there A game we are gonna need some mental mistakes on the birds part to pull the upset. If they bring there A game and we Bring ours highlands wins by 14-20 points. If we bring anything less than our A game those running clock predictions may not be too far off. But if we play our best and 1 or 2 plays go our way(turnovers, sack, penalties etc...) we have the talent to shock the state that's where I would caution highlands fans like I'm sure the bluebirds coaches have cautioned there players if they don't come ready to take care of what they're supposed to then they will be going home if they are looking to next week. Ashland is good enough to win if highlands doesn't take them seriously.

No, it isn't Boyd County. Nor is it CovCath.

You would have been a popular figure on the Titanic.

Somehow I still feel that was too soon lol
Go getting Ashland tomcats. Make the mountains proud and bring home a victory . Go up there to the triangle and show them a taste of their own medicine.

We would crush Cov-Cath!! They will have their hands full with JC...,
T-CATS Wrote:We would crush Cov-Cath!! They will have their hands full with JC...,

Well, they may have their hands full with Johnson Central. As I recall, your boys had more than their hands full down there.

As for crushing CovCath, I believe you played them last year at your place. How did you do?

CovCath is one of the three best teams in Class 4A. Ashland is not in that lofty territory. Everyone outside the Ashland city limits seems to know that. You should learn from the rest of us. CovCath is a quality program.
I know they are good but we can play with them. Keep putting the Cats down with top 3 programs in 4A and running clocks and 56-10 scores. They are going to shock the state of Kentucky friday night!!!
Sorry Tomcats. This is your last game. Good season!!!!
I appreciate your enthusiasm but saying Ashland is better than CovCath is laughable. FTH is 3 TDs better than them and they are 3 TDs better than Ashland. Ashland would not be top 3 in 3A. Get your chuck taylors ready. Basketball starts Monday in Ashland.

Ashland just beat a top 3A team in 3A by two td's without there best player.
Barely, at Ashland and Belfry is down this year. They have been hit with the injury bug this year as well.
With that being said, Belfry did win where you didn't. At Central.
dozerdawg707 Wrote:With that being said, Belfry did win where you didn't. At Central.

Did u attend the central game? A Hail Mary beat Ashland it wasn't like they were outplayed all night. And once again were playing without there top 2 wideouts there starting center and there top 3 runningbacks. Anyone looking at how Ashland played in that game an projecting to now is in for a surprise. I would say if the two teams played again with the health Ashland has now the tomcats would win by two touchdowns. Ashland is a legitame top 5 maybe even top 3 team in 4A let alone 3A
I'm not saying they aren't a quality team. They are, but not Top 5 in my opinion. You guys caught GW without their top RB. Lost to an off Ironton team and Central is down compared to the last few seasons. CovCath will beat them this week as well.
