He said top 4 meaning, 3 teams from district 8 and one team from district 7 would be the top 4 teams, and he is right.

Well, this is going to be an emotional game for the Commodores, as it is Senior Night as well as the last regular season home football game ever at Paul Ray Alexander field, the Commodores should be fired up out of the gate and they will need to be to try to stop a very physical Harlan County running attack. Hopefully the defense will step up and not let Harlan County keep the ball on long, extended drives and wear the defense down, also the offense will have to eliminate mistakes and play turnover-free football. With that said, i'll take Perry in the upset and forcing a log jam in district 8.

The Hazard Herald posted that all former Perry Central and MC Napier players are encouraged to attend.

Yep, free admission and free food, so expect everyone who has ever played to be there, hard to turn all that stuff down lol.
#65
That means that we'll be dark thirty getting home!!

LOL

So, do you think that all the emotion is a good or bad thing?

I just hope the refs let the kids decide the outcome of the game...may the best team win.

Well I hope Harlan County gets home cooked and they leave crying!

I know that everyone has the right to post their opinion, but it seems to me that the perry fans are stretching it a bit. The only way perry can compete is with the refs. This has been clearly stated in several post over the years. The refs are always a factor at PC. I hope that is not the case and the best team wins! Without the help of the zebras!

Posts like this make me sick.

This is why no one on here can stand Harlan County fans. This sense of entitlement and the thinking that no one can play with you.
Perry will play with you and there isn't a kid in that locker room that doesn't believe.

Perry fans may not be in abundance on this board but I guarantee they are in force come Friday night and you guys will be lucky to get a play off.
You all better be teaching your QB how to call plays with hand signals because you'll need 10 TOs a half and an officiating crew that will overlook the false starts if you want to get a drive going.

Here is an excerpt from the article in this week's paper.
Quote: it was a place where “boys became men” through the competition there that ultimately changed their lives. Each decade produced players who would make their mark there as a Navajo or Commodore. In the 1960s names like Jerry Brewer, Jessie Harris and Calvin Beatty came to mind, Napier noted, and in then in the 1970s Kenny Miller and David Napier, and Larry Napier and Jeff Gillum in the 80s.

Perry Central, of course, produced top-notch players as well, including Timmy Neace, Al Holland, Jr., Twayne Willis and Matt Robinson among others. And it was these young men who supplied the memories on that field every Friday night.

“It’s got a lot of memories for a lot of people in different years,” Napier said.

And for the thousands of fans who have come to those games over the decades, those memories are just as real.

“Think about the thousands of people – not just the people that played their games here – but the students and fans that attended here every Friday night,” Napier continued. “A lot of people met their husbands and wives here.”

There is still one chance to make new memories at Napier/Commodore/Paul Ray Alexander Field. There’s still one chance to see the glare of the lights off the players’ helmets, to watch the competition on the field, and hear the roar of the crowd as the home team breaks the end zone, and maybe even takes a victory.

And it’s not as if the memories will truly end. The football tradition will continue for Perry County Schools with the completion of a new football field as part of a state-of-the-art athletic complex next to the planned East Perry Elementary. So, there’s a bright future to look forward to and new memories to be made, even if Friday night will mark the end of an era for a generation of Perry Countians.

“We feel like it’s time to move on,” Napier said. “It’s going to be a beautiful place that we’ve got up here and we look forward to that, but it’s kind of tough to say goodbye to this.”

So we're not entitled to think we are the better team? That's called being a fan!

Big Game A lot on the line for both teams, should be a good one! I just don't see Perry's defense stopping the Bears enough to win. I think the Bears can limit Perry but by no means expect them to go scoreless. I'm saying the Black Bears wear them down and win 41-21.

So you are back to judging us all by one post. But running clock's post is OK? Come on man...We do not feel entitled and this year in particular most of us has posted very little because we know there is a lot this team needs to prove. Perry will NEVER play with HC this year and while your kids might believe...honestly you know better. If you think your 237 fans will drown us out you have lost your mind. There will be more of us than there will be of you...and if you think we'll be lucky to get a play off? When it's 50-6 like it was two years ago you'll think different.

Man I don't like to go off like that...but you're a little out of line there hoss...

I didn't call you out - just like RunIt wasn't calling out me or GeauxTigers out in his post in the Whitley thread.

The "everyone can have an opinion unless it involves Harlan County losing a game" mentality will only get you so far. Our kids will come out fired up and ready to go.

Thanks for bringing up the game from two years ago. I forgot about it. I guess we should give up since we lost two years ago. I'd be surprised if we score less than 30.

That's the logic that I was using when I called your buddy out for saying...

"I understand people have their opinions - but Perry fans are stretching - they can't play with us"

If that isn't a two-way street then we might as well just look at the books and take a vote on who wins instead of playing the game on Friday night.

I vote we move the visitor bleachers to the other side where they used to be! Right in the middle of our tailgaters! Talk about not leaving somewhere alive.

If the toughness of the two fan bases resembles the football teams, I don't think you want to do that.

More from the Herald...

Quote:Any former players or coaches will be asked to identify themselves at the gate, and they will be escorted to a special hospitality area where they can meet other former players. At halftime, they will be escorted to the 50-yard line and introduced to the home crowd one final time.

Napier urged former players and coaches to spread the word in hopes of getting as many former Navajos and Commodores back to Airport Gardens as possible.

Since the districts were realigned district 7 has won 2 of the 3 regional championships.

I am a Rockcastle fan and always will be. I have watched Larkey and he is a GREAT coach, but it seems he has always had trouble defending the pass. I think this is why they have trouble with Bell Co every year. PCC is a good passing team, and I think this game will be closer than you think in the final score. I don't think PCC can beat Harlan Co but I do think they will make it a closer game than the Whitley game. Some teams have trouble with certain styles of play, and this game could show this for Harlan County. In this game PCC better pass, because they aren't going to run on Harlan Co. and get very far.

Wrong.

Whitley won the region in 2008.

The districts were the same in 2008 as they are now.

It's 2-2 and it will be 3-2 for district 8 after this year.

2008 Whitley County
2009 Pulaski County
2010 Harlan County
2011 Southwestern

Whitley County did win the district in 2008. However, your are incorrect about the districts being the same as they are now. In 2008 Harlan County was 2A. Also, District 7 had Mercer County, South Laurel, Southwestern and Pulaski County in it. District 8 had Clay County and North Laurel. The districts did not have the same makeup.
