Two evenly matched teams. Should be a dandy!!!!
Russell Co. has speed advantage Knox has a physical advantage
I think Russell Co. will have a tremendous advantage in the kicking game.
Russell Co. will start their drives on their 40 yard line and will need to gain 30 yards to get into scoring position.
Meanwhile KNOX will start their on their 20 yard line and will have to go 77 yards to get into scoring position.
But the game is at Knox so :pondering:

^I am thinking the same thing. Field position and speed go to Russell County. Size and physical play go to Knox as well as home field.

Knox is very good up front and has good speed. Russell has great speed but I believe the physicality of Knox will win out. Panthers by 10.

If you like football than there can be nothing better than this game. Should be one of the best games in the state this Friday, if not the best. I really hope the lakers kick some panther butt, but I'm also a closet fan of the panthers and what they have accomplished this year. This will be the last time this year that I pull against the panthers, unless we can have the best outcome possible in state and meet again. After this game we will have common enemies from the other district and I hope the panthers roll into a regional title against the lakers. But let's not get ahead of ourselves and enjoy 2 teams who have had tremendous years. Good luck Lakers and God's protection to the players on both teams.
Lakers 35
Panthers 21
Lakers 35
Panthers 21

Lets just hope that Russell Co. does not lay another egg in a big game like they did last season against Mercer County. Can Russell Co. step up and handle the pressure of a BIG game? We shall see.

I would be interested to see what the common opponents that these teams have played have to say about who has the most physical defense! I am not saying that we do but I think because of our speed it is often assumed that we are not that physical! Anyone from Clay, Rock or South got an honest opinion on the subject.
10-13-2012, 05:53 PM
We're west of I-75, we're not capable of being big and physical. Didn't you know that?
10-13-2012, 08:41 PM
Knox Central will be the best team Russell has played all year. But Knox Centrals kicking game really struggles. If it a close game this may cost them, and yes the panthers will be the most physical team you play this year.

After watching both teams play rockcastle, i would give a slight edge to the Knox defense. however....
If I played defense, I would jump out of the way of #4 from Knox. I wouldn't want no part of trying to bring him down. And I couldn't catch Britt to see how physical he actually is.
Should be a great game. This is one that should be on TV.

I think this is a very close game but I like Knox in a close one because they are at home.

This is it the game everyone wanted to see an with the title on the line!!! The biggest game for either team so far this year all those months in the off season getting ready for this one game. On one side you have Mr. Britt one of the fastest backs in the state, the kicker (can't remember his name) the best in the state, then on the other side you have Mr. J Canady one of the best all around players in the state, Mr. H Canady one of the best linebackers in the state, an the Mr. Barger by far the best db is southern Kentucky. What does all this mean you ask??? Well get ready for one hell of a football game!!! But when all the dust an smoke clears the panther nation will rejoice with a great hard fought win over a really good laker team!!! 27-21

I said back in July this would be the game of the year.
It is certainly living up to the hype.
I will stick to my pick that RC will win this district and possibly the region.

Yes you did say that, but you also have been wrong a lot this year so I don't hold much stock in any of your picks but we will know the answer come Friday night

An as I thought no respect from you!!! It's a shame that you haven't given KC any respect this year at all, even after we beat Harlan county then they turn around a whip Whitley but still no respect so I would even bet when we beat Russell you still want have any respect for the panther. But that's ok we will just keep on doing our thing an when its all said an done you may not like us but you damn sure will have to RESPECT us for now on!!!!:redboxer:

As I have said for 12 months. Last years game left a really bad taste in everyone's mouth. If the Panthers can pull this out, it will be nice. I only regret the class of 2012 can't suit up extract their 8 pounds of flesh for last year.
The game will be a contest between two of the best athletes in KY with Britt and Canady. But neither of these are playing the one man team role. Both are surrounded by great players who can make plays on both sides of the ball.
So Panther Nation will be out in Force. You can expect several thousand to welcome you to a very hostile environment. In 2008 I recall going 9-3 and playing in front of 100 folks while we drubbed most everyone we played. How things have changed.
May the best team win this year.

This will be a great game. Of these two teams I think Russell Co brings more to the table compared to last season.
The Lakers are considerably bigger & stronger than in 2011, they have a much improved passing game from last season, and they have several other legitimate threats that they weren't utilizing last season.
The Panthers have finally decided that J. Canady needs to be in the backfield, and are 75-80% run. In him, Gist, & Evans they have three legitimate threats to run the ball. But compared to last season's Panthers, they are missing that go to receiver. M. Barger has made the most of his receptions, but only had 27 receptions through 7 games. Where the Panthers have really improved is on defense. IMO they are much improved on D compared to 2011.
I give Russell County the slight edge because of their offensive potential and kicking game, but these two teams are so evenly matched that anything can happen. If either team has an off night, then the other team will blow them out.
IMO the best regular season game of the year state wide.

I have been a KC panther fan for many years including 08. I remember huge crowds following the team that year. There was even a charter bus that took us to the playoff game which set us up in the regional championship at Bell. There were so many people at that game against Bell in 08 they were standing around the track. The place erupted when we entered the field. I even commented that the line of fans that the boys ran through as they entered that field was none like I'd seen before. That was the game that KC was the only team all season to be ahead of bell in a game. Then Bell went on to win the state a couple games later. KC is doing great this year. Lets not forget the years it took to build what we are reaping. Just don't make it sound like this is the only year fans have followed our team. Fans keep on following and team keep winning but don't get greedy.
