Get real, 5 People hurt, 9 positions because some play 2 ways. 4-2 record. NO WAY!!!!

Got to be pulling for the Ads. (If they make that far) Really??

Somerset will kick some Ad booty... Just like we always do!

Danville dominates the total series by a lot i think? (statistics please) Im pretty sure that this last senior class to graduate was the first senior class to beat Danville 4 times in a row. Could be wrong but i had a coach at Somerset tell me this i think.

I really don't know why everyone thinks Somerset is in such a bad situation. Yes, they might lose this game because of injuries but, they're definitely not on a downward spiral!

One thing Somerset is not, is on a downward spiral. They have a had a few kinks yes, but these boys will get it together. Danville is no doubt going to be a test for Somerset but that's not such a bad thing. As long as no one new gets hurt hopefully everything will click for the jumpers.

THis is be one of the best games in the state this week. Danville has a senior ground of kids who are just chumping at the bits to be somerset.. Also the game is at Danville as well so they are going to have the slight edge... So danville wins a close one... But i will say this if Danville wins this game and these two meet up again then they wont beat somerset twice.

I think Somerset is a solid team, but think Danville is a little better. Danville by 14

According to Lexington Hearld power rankings this is the top 2 teams in the state in AA.

I wasn't dissing the Jumpers, just saying things aren't going their way right now. I probably should have worded things differently, so my apologies everyone. What I meant by that was that they are having poor luck with injuries right now. Hopefully the Jumpers can get back on track with a victory on Friday night against Danville.

Close game. This will be game of the night Friday in my opinion. It is a really close one.

For some reason, I think Somerset will pull it out and win by a touchdown, winning 21-14.

Should be a hell of a game!!

Looks like Danville leads the all time series 43-16-2 if you take a look at this article in 2009 because at that time Danville owned a 43-13-2 record against Somerset. Like I said earlier, Somerset has gotten the better of the Ads over the last 3 to 4 years but before that since the series was resumed the Ads owned the series.

LOL, you've gotta love the hometown hyperbole of these small-town papers. The article linked above calls the SHS-Danville rivalry, "the oldest and most storied series in Kentucky prep football history."

It is neither.

Danville - 28

Somerset - 7 (If the SHS defense can score)

Don't think Danville will put up 28 on Somerset, If they do I'll take my hat off and tip them. Breathitt Couldn't and Whitley Co. Couldn't or Glasgow. Guess we will see.

I agree with Coach on one aspect, I think Danville puts up the most points Somerset has given up this year so far. I think Somerset will score several times too though. This should be a great game.

I think at home Danville wins 28-21

Loved reading the article but there were some inaccuracies in the piece.

1. In speaking about the '74 Game at Admiral Stadium, the Danville coach is mentioned as Duffy. It was not Duffy. He came in 1980. The Admiral coach was Pat Dale. (My guess is the Somerset player just mentioned the person as Danville's coach and the writer mistakenly put Tom Duffy's name in)

2. Also this statement is false: During the rivalry’s hiatus from 1974 to 1985, Somerset (under the guidance of John Cain) went to three Class 2A State Championship games, while Danville never made a state final game appearance during that same time period.
Danville was the undefeated Class AAA Champions in 1984.

3. This story about the pre-game in 1974 was a little "understated." But a pre-game rhubarb and allegations, brought the Danville-Somerset football rivalry to a halt for another 11 years.

“Yeah, we waited outside of Danville's locker room before the game so that we could tell them how bad we were going to beat them,” Messamore admitted. “Tempers got a little heated and a fight did break out.”

It was more like much of the Jumper team met the Ads coming out of the locker room and onto the field. Fists were up and Danville had to fight to take the field. It was a very good Danville squad with David McAfee at QB, Kenny Young and Scrapper Letcher at RB.

Still, it was a nice trip down memory lane.

Its true, if you read the article it talks about Messamore telling all the middle school football players how big of a rivalry it is between Somerset Danville. Even before you get into highschool at Somerset all you want to do is beat Danville. The greatest rivalry in kentucky IMO.

Yeah, my dad has told how big a rivalry it was back when he played at Somerset. He told me that they even had to have a police escort a couple times when they played at Danville!

Yeah, I agree with ya! No one in the regular season is gonna put up 28 on Somerset's defense.

No offense to the Somerset fans when I say this but you all have some fans on here that have no idea what they are talking about. They are throwing stats around that aren't even close to being accurate. Like every fan base there are bad fans but it seems like a lot of their bad fans seemed to jump on rivals lol. Shambo and there is another one this is not meant told you all at all because you all know what you all are talking about and don't seem to be the bad apples of the bunch.

What Stats? Didn't see any stats?

Maybe a couple of over zealous opinions full of fan based hyperbole...but all fans make statements stating the prowess of their teams.

Somerset's Def. has been Super all year. To play the schedule they have played and only give up 55 pts. 9.1 per Game is outstanding. Take out the 24 Breathitt scored the per game avg. drops to 6 per game. Somerset had most players dressed in practice yesterday, I think they will be 90 to 95 % healthy Friday Night. Should be a Great High School Football Game. Somerset Win's.

I mean if you make statements about your own team they should be true statements. Yes Somerset is good but they don't own danville and will never own Danville. They had a four year span where they have beaten danville yes that's correct but what did they get by beating a down Danville team for those 4 years nothing. This is the year where the winner of this game in the playoffs will win state and this is the year where it will count. I said earlier in the year I believed Somerset would be better then Danville and beat them twice but I'm going back on that. Somersets defense is really good but if you can't score and have turnovers then you don't win football games.

Any idea who will be sitting out?

1 state runner up
3 regional championships
3 district championships
What you meant to say is "what did danville get during the past 4 year span? nothing"
