Are there any teams in the state that Practice defense any more? Scrolling thru the scores from this past weekend (did not calculate exact numbers) but 80% or more of the scores were over 30 points and those were the losing teams. Has the talent dropped off that much or are teams more focused on scoring. :please:

I don't know of any really good teams that don't have good defenses. I still believe a good offense wins games and a good defense wins championships.

If they want to win playoff games they do.

Offenses have gotten very complicated, and everybody has their own offense. It is not like the 80's where most of the teams ran the Power I or Wing T and ran the ball 80% of the time. The offenses have gotten pretty complicated and players have to be more versatile. Also with the changing offenses it is becoming more difficult to play players both ways all of the time. If you have a running back trying to play corner against the spread he is going to get tired pretty quickly.

They have to practice something, I'm sure that a team is just gonna stand aside and let the other team walk the ball down the field into the endzone for a touchdown (sarcastic). Has anyone ever heard the term REBUILDING? Most teams that usually give up a lot of points have Frosh and SO playing with little to none varsity experience

I think the new practice rules are starting to show a bit. With limiting contact and such I think its making it harder for teams to practice physical defense and they have to rely more on scheme.

NCC doesn't practice defense. That's one of the many reasons they're so horrible this year.

Very few do tackling drills after the season starts.
