Holy Toledo......

What a win for the Magoffin Co. Hornets.

Not only a big win; Not only a win over rival Paintsville; But a win for the Community/County of Magoffin was pretty much wiped off the face of the map by the March 2nd tornado.

Congratulations Magoffin County on a BIG win!

Paintsville, it's hard to root against you, but I've felt something special toward Magoffin for awhile. Hang in there and best of luck for the rest of the season.

Way to go Hornets!!! Clay Elam finished with 239 rush yards and 2 td's, and Matt Patton finished with 179 rush yards and 4 td's. Hornets ran the ball at will basically. Would have liked to have seen Ryan Jenkins get to show off his arm and legs both a little bit but I'm still very pleased. And btw Paintsville, you all will be fine as long as Bill Mike is there. Things will Definitely get better. Great crowd tonight. Way to pull together as a community and show support for te Hornets!! Founders Day Bowl Champs!

I need to walk out on the plank in the middle of Hurricane Issac and as my last words would be "tell Diogenes I'm sorry for disputing the Tigers would not win a game this season" I took off to go watch this game and can say what a huge disappointment. We have nobody to catch the ball downfield. We dropped three wide open td's and probably a fourth but my angle was shaded somewhat. Our run game isn't bad but we just refuse to run hard into the hole and if Cash/Kash doesn't run it every play we have zero chance of moving the chains. Prater plays his butt off but his arm must be killing him and he still tries to stay in. This was one time I really felt bad for our kids as we were manhandled against the run after LeMaster and Prater came out of the game with injuries. Hats off to Magoffin, those kids were pumped and excited to play and it showed. I wish them the best this season and the entire community. My opinion now is that it will be two years until we can compete again. I apologize if this makes anybody mad but sooner or later we need to come to grips that we are not a competitive football team because we are too young and have to use this season as a learning experience. I will say one thing though, that kid Cash/Kash has the best damn arm I have seen and my example was when he rolled to his left under pressure and threw off balance a 50yrd plus laser. Damnest thing I've ever seen and he is a freshmen to beat it. Two years and then maybe just maybe. Also best to Johnson Central this year their 7th grade team looked great before the Tiger/Hornet game.

Good Lord. I don't know guys. It's only week two and the Tigers are in trouble. Real trouble! It doesn't matter who the Coach is if they don't have players they will not be successful. It troubles me to see Paintsville's football program in the shape it's in. I don't know if any Coach, on any level, could come there and turn it around. Paintsville's decline is due to so many things other than football. I hope that things get better for the Tigers in the future but its going to take more than just coaching to turn that thing around. Good Luck Tigers.

What a game for the communitiy over there in Magoffin Co. Congradulations to Coach McCoy and his players on a dominating performance. Good Luck the rest of the way.

A great win for the Hornets and the entire community. This is exactly what they needed in a home opener. At the beginning of the off season there was speculation that the Hornets would be on the road for 10 straight games due to the severe damage to their facilities. But, with the help of the community and some serious support from the new Superintendent, they were able to pull together everything to make it possible. The best of luck to Paintsville on the rest of the season, and congrats to MC on the win!!!

I agree completely with you, its looking like Paintsville is in some serious trouble this season. They got completely dominated with the run game tonight, personally I think it could have gotten real ugly tonight if Coach McCoy would have wanted it to. He kept QB Ryan Jenkins caged up tonight and didn't let him showcase his throwing abilities hardly at all tonight, which can't say I blame him whenever you're running game is completely dominate like it was. Great win the Hornets and best of luck to Paintsville this season.

It seems like paintsville took every opurtunity they had a squandered it completely. Bad penalties, and dropped passes spelled doom for the tigers tonight. Catch that ball and this is a competitave game. I agree as I shave said before that it will be a year or two before we are sucessful again. This game looked like magoffin county's super bowl and it showed they were fired up and our boys didn't seem to have the intensity to match it. Talent wise we should have competed in this game but it will be a learning experiance for them and they will get better because of it.

I guess in a way it was their Super Bowl. It was far more than a victory over Paintsville. And if it was their Super Bowl, what a time to play so well.

Congratulations again, Magoffin County!

Congrats to Magoffin Co. Big win for the team & community. Good luck on the season.

To my understanding Paintsville is a very young team. Sounds like a lot of young mistakes. Things will only get better Tigers. Keep your heads up & keep working hard on fundamentals. Good luck to you also on the season.

Could write a book on this one but I'll hold my tongue and just say congrats Hornets on a dominating performance.

Well I will say this, I was very excited about the hire of BMR but after watching him last night he doesn't even deserve to be called coach. He is going to push this program further into the depths of doom than Kinner. Chirico is the only guy to bring them back to the promise land. After watching him last night, THIS GUY KNOWS HIS STUFF!!!!!

I'm saying Chirico is a true coach. Other than him not sure who on the staff really understands coaching. BMR is nothing more than a title holder of the word "coach". He done absolutely nothing last night but walk around. All I can figure is he is running for some political office again and figures this way he can get votes. The program is better off with someone who loves the sport and is dedicated to it rather than someone who just takes it to keep someone he doens't like from getting the job.

He is there for the name. Nothing more nothing less Chirico will be the head man as soon as possibly next year

 good post.

Wait 'til after Oct. 15th. Not saying that BMR can't head coach both football and basketball..... but something's gotta give.

Excuse after excuse...first it was no talent...now it is they are young. Put the money out there and hire a football coach.

I can agree with this, we stayed until the third and there wasn't much coaching going on there. We couldn't find him until right before halftime when he called a timeout. Congrats to the Magoffin Co. Hornets on a big win, we know you guys have been through a lot since last spring and it's hard not to root for you guys. Also, thank you for showing our middle school team and fans great hospitality last night. Best of luck to both teams for the rest of the year!

Painstville is young but, no one seems to realize that Magoffin is as well. They are only graduating 3 seniors that actually play and for the most part are all sophomores.

What money? Paintsville spends there money on teaching kids not hiring football coaches. Paintsville is a poor school district it seems alot of people in the county think paintsville is rich for some reason I can't understand it.

They seem to come up with a very attractive coaching package that Keith Adkins turned down! Come on man really, I know you are not trying to play that card.
#25
Is Joey Couch helping the Tigers now?

Way to go Hornets! Glad to see this dominating win. You left no doubt that you are a very competitive team with a fine coach.Best of luck the rest of the season. Tigers, who knows? Also great game JCMS! JCMS just seems to get stronger and better with both the 7th and 8th grade teams. Great feeder program for JCHS.

Big difference between a coach with college experience and a high school coach. Think about what JC would offer Dudley Hilton if Matney left and he was interested. But The deal offered to Adkins was still 20-30 g's less than what big time schools pay.

If making up excuses for taking a 46-12 thumping makes the Tiger's sleep better at night then I am happy for them lol. Not trying to be disrespectful in anyway, but I wouldn't be shocked if Paintsville went win-less this season. Not saying they don't have any talent, they're just down on numbers, and a young squad. But to say they are on the same level talent wise with MC just isn't true..MC's offensive and defensive line was just punishing the boys in blue from the first snap of the ball.
#29
What excuses are you guys talking about?
We got beat, plain and simple.

Easy there Sundance, punishing from the first snap? It was a 14-6 game with 2 mins to go in the first half before Magoffin score at the end of the half. Paintsville dropped minimum 4 TD's wide open so to say punishing is off. Best of luck to the Hornets this year.
