Scott County @ Highlands 8/24
#1
Who wins and why?

I think this game should be called the clash of the titans a 6a juggernaut vs a 4a powerhouse get ur popcorn ready

Friday night I picked HHS to lose this game, the first time in years I have picked them to lose. But, after watching a replay of SC's game I think I will change my pick. SC is not overly big and are pretty one demensional. They basically run their offense between the tackles with just a couple of short passes thrown in. I have faith in HHS coaching to come up with a way to slow up the running game up the middle. SC's D was not overly impressive and I believe HHS can put some points up on the board. SC does have a kid that looked good returning punts and kickoffs, HHS would be smart in kicking it away from him IMO. SC had a lot of trouble with PAT's and it could come up big in a close game. I'll take my Birds at home in a close, competative game.

Highlands Big.
#5
public school state championship game? (or at least final four/semi-finals along Bowling Green & ?)
#6
Cakes huge.

This is a clash of the Titan's. Scott Co may be just good enough to pull the upset in this one, but I am going to have to pick Highlands to be the victor. Highlands will win this one in a nail bitter 45-42.

Scott Co's offense is not designed to score quickly, they are happy running between the tackles in long drives, no way they score 42 points.

You are the same person who picked Highlands to lose at home last week right? The same person who picked 5 time defending state champ to start off at home with an L right? LOL. The game might not reach the 40's but the 30's most definitely. I just find it laughable that you the one who picked them to lose last week has the gall to critique my pick. :lmao:

Great contest so early in the season! I believe Highlands will win this one...
#13
Would love to be at this game. These are the type of early season matchups you love to see. Unlike the college game an early season loss can be a real postive, something to draw from come playoff time. Plus if someone were to get dinged up, plenty of time to heal and be ready when it truly counts. Good luck to both teams!!! One team thats been on top of the mountain for years while another that has found recent success and built a very very good football program. Exciting!!!!

Scott Co wins easily.

Easily???? Have you been sleeping under a rock bro? Scott Co. might win, but definitely not EASILY. Last team that was talking junk about Highlands, they got waxed. Just ask powerhouse Boyle County.

Highlands.

Scott runs the ball controls the clock, and comes out with the win.

Maybe dumb but certainly true. Highlands will win. However neither could beat Louisville St. Xavier and an all-star team of the two would get thumped by Louisville Trinity.

So, as much as I root for and appreciate the locals, FTH, it is still a battle of the lessers (ie: the publics).

You are right if SC can run the ball, eat up a lot of clock and does not have turn overs. However, I watched SC's game Friday and they do not look as good as Boyle.

By the way, I thought you did not want to hear or talk about HHS again and yet here you are again on a HHS post! Just can't stay away can you.:biglmao:

:hilarious: Scott Co. relies on the run too much. You have to have a complex offense to beat HHS. Birds by at least 21.
#21
If your talking about 2 of the best publics, I'd go with HHS and Lou. Central. That would be a good matchup.

If you are talking to me, no I did not pick Highlands to lose last week, I had them winning by 2-3 scores (35-17) in the pick 'em contest. I have not picked them to lose in 5 years except in the cincy st x game, and thankfully I was wrong in that pick. I would not be surprised if SC does not score in the 30's, they will probably have long time consuming drives and HHS is not as quick striking this year either. I look for a score of 38-17.

Even though I know this may come back and bite me in the butt cause I know it's gonna be an extremely close game, I'm gonna pick Highlands to win this one. By no more than a touchdown, if that. This is one game that I'd love to get to watch.

Highlands 42

Scott County 28

I watched that game on Ihigh, and you are right the special teams kid is a gem. His cousin I think is the QB at Paintsville as a freshman. The special teams kid was named as a top fifty player in Ky and he is also a wide out from what I saw. Im going with you, Highlands wins this one.

Highlands. Should be an excellent game to watch.

I have 3 questions when picking Highlands football games:

1. Is Muller on the sidelines?
2. Is the opponent from KY?
3. Is the opponent Trinity?

If the order of the answers is yes, yes, no then I pick the Bluebirds.

Highlands: 35
Scott Co: 17

Most logical post ever on a highlands thread.

Scott,Co 34 highlands 33. In a must see game

I think SC only has 9-10 plays in their offensive playbook. Dive left, dive right, dive all night does not work if your behind on the scoreboard. Just ask Bell Co. they try that and it backfired on them cause they were so one dimensional. Gotta have a little passing game. Highlands will light up the scoreboard again.
