PaytoPlay Wrote:^ Fair enough man. Did you get a good enough report from the JC/Whitley scrimmage to rank your team ahead of JC?
The reports were oddly tight lipped after that scrimmage. Just an observation.
To be honest, other than what ive heard on here and from what few parents that attended the game have said, all have said it was pretty much as even as you could get.
I didnt attend the game, but everyone has said both teams moved the ball well. Defense was the key for both teams. I believe i heard the final at the end of that varsity scrimmage was 13-13 a tie. But ive also noticed a lot wasnt said on the scrimmage.
Ive heard Whitley fullbacks opened up gaping holes all night and JC's backs found tight holes and used there speed to run away from our defenders.
So in other words, both teams will probably be pretty even, but of course im going to rank Whitley a place higher

Game format? Down and distance?
That is interesting.

From my understanding, it was a game type format with two halfs instead of quarters.
Although, i may be wrong, as ive said, i did not drive over 3 hours to watch a scrimmage lol.
But it wasnt a 10 minutes scrimmage then turn the frosh loose, from what i understand it was a real game like experience.

I drove 1:40 to see Belfry/Hazard tonight.
Shame on you man! Sorry to hijack the thread, but if Whitley went toe to toe with JC, then I am convinced they are legit. From what I understand, JC returns some good lineman and I know their QB is an explosive kid.

Overall whitley scored 9 times pulaski scored 4 times.
08-16-2012, 11:49 PM
wow, a lot of people thought pulaski might be the front runner in district 7 and challenge Whitley and Harlan for region
08-16-2012, 11:56 PM
Our JV handled their JV rather easy also

9 scores would equal around 60 points give or take extra points.
If were putting up that many points on a good team, were doing something right, scrimmage or not.
Any PC fans with details?
Cant believe i thought this game was tomorrow.

I'm not going to argue with anyone about Hazard's 1A trophy.
They worked hard to be better than the rest of the teams in that class so they deserve the championship.
I don't have a problem with Hazard being on this list - they deserve it.

That's what we heard all last year as well.
Then they came out of nowhere and won the region.

But c'mon...
If you think that only three teams in freaking eastern kentucky can beat hazard then you must be on that meth that's cooked by walter white.

But somerset shut them out last year and you're saying that they could've won that game. Who cares that they could've won. They failed to register a single point. They should have beaten breathitt but they choked.
They play somerset and breathitt this year as well.
Would you like to go out on a limb and say hazard wins both of those games.
Because i'll avatar bet you all day err day on that one.
this.

No, they didn't beat JC. It was 13-13. JC jumped out on top 13-0 and Whitley put together a lengthy drive to score before the half. 13-7 at the half, came back out for the third. Each team got one possession, JC drove the field and stalled then switched some players around to get a different look on defense...which I assume that's what a team wants to see in a scrimmage, as many looks to see what could be utilized. Whitley scored on another long drive and failed the PAT. 13-13.
Glad to hear the Pulaski turnout.

Sounds like Zaga is a little BUTT-HURT!!!! LOL
One thing thats for sure is Perry Central don't belong on this list... LOL WYMT got that one right.... LOL
But... I say Hazard is a little too high to start the season, maybe should be around 6 or 7.. But one thing thats for sure is Hazard will push EVERY team on the list.
Zaga you can kiss Coach Dixon's................RING!!!!

Any of these teams could beat each other on any given night. Its all about match ups and how other teams size up and do against each other. Also different styles of football clash and makes things better. Also Zaga would i be willing to take an avatar bet. Why sure i will but i actually want to see Hazard in person and get my aspect on how the team will be.

Not butt-hurt at all.
You said it yourself they should be around 6 or 7.
And you honestly think Hazard would push Bell County?
I think they would struggle pushing Whitley.

I want to quote a bunch of this on here but I'm laughing so hard right now..
Love this stuff..
But Hazard cannot push Bell Co, nor can they push the Black Bears.. LOL..
If you call a 4 TD loss pushing then maybe.

Honestly I don't think theres a team in the Mountain that Hazard couldn't play with... Sure Bell County is a better team but do I think they would beat Hazard by 20+... No way... I know u all love to throw the Class 1A up when it comes to Hazard but be real. Hazard plays Breathitt County every year, just a few years back was playing Corbin every year, been playing Somerset for the last few years, was playing Letcher Central but LCC didn't want that beat down anymore, and before the Hazard/Perry thing ended, Hazard was on a 4 year WS with a 64-20 point game. So in the last 5 or 6 years Hazard has been right there with the top teams in the mountains (all classes).

LOL There aint a team in the mountains beating Hazard by 4 TD's

Whats real funny is there's people on here that want to dog Class A football but truth is that they wouldn't have ever seen the field if they want to try to play for Hazard. You couldn't even play Class A football.

On a side note, how many TD's would #10 JC beat #6 Williamsburg by? I'd say 48-20
I've seen both this year and I'd say you are wrong. IMO

If Hazard is looking for games next year I am sure if someone called Coach Matney we could find a date.

I have no doubt that Hazard should be in the top 10.
But I think Harlan County, Bell County, and Belfry (I know you scrimmage them but we all know how much stock we can put in that) are not only losses in my book - but muti-TD losses. I'm not going to say 20+ because that is a tough spread. But I'd say all of them are a GOOD 2 TDs better than Hazard. Then you have Somerset and Breathitt who beat Hazard last year. I think Whitley, Knox, and Johnson Central would all be question marks for Hazard as well. I do, however, think Hazard is a clear favorite over Williamsburg lol
Hazard will be tested early.
Somerset, Breathitt, and a Prestonsburg team that shouldn't be overlooked.
This will tell us how Hazard stacks up in the mountains.
I honestly think Hazard is smart playing teams like that in the first few games.
After that they have Harlan, Jenkins and Pineville.
Once they get to the meat of the playoffs they already have played against teams that are that good.
