Who will be Paintsville's new Basketball Coach?
#1
Just heard that Matt Ratliff stepped down as Basketball coach at Paintsville .

Very interesting question Feather. ??????????:pondering:
#3
Is this for real?
#4
Bill Mike Runyon will be the next coach, as he lead the coup from what I am hearing.

Loyalty is something that is hard to find and in short supply in Paintsville. Heard 2-3 coaches under Matt made a play also.

Hell of a guy hate to hear it!!
#6
Any truth to these posts?

This breaks my heart as well! This is the second young coach placed in a VERY tough position to start a career. I wish nothing but the best for he and his wonderful family!

I hear PuP Miller , Magoffin Co girls coach as inquired about the coaching job at Paintsville .
#9
I used to respect the Paintsville athletic programs. That respect is long forgotten.

Kinda understand what you are saying. However a lack of respect for those in a decision making role should not be confused with the respect for the program. The effect I admit has to be there.

It's difficult to separate the two. It's difficult to have one without the other. I think it's as much the parents as anything. No one is accountable anymore. It's the day and age in which we live. Administrators are politically motivated and coerced. Coaches are an afterthought. And lost in that struggle are the student-athletes.

Agree totally:Thumbs:

This to me is very bad news,

There's only one person who should be on the list......Coach Trimble and he alone. Matt is a fine young man but was never given full rein. He never had the full respect of his own staff, they were more worried about what other people thought or trying to take over the program themselves than improving the program.
Parents were another problem, it seemed as if 50% of them had their own stat sheets, and were more worried about little Johnny's minutes than wins and losses. If anyone other than Trimble gets the job, then we will all know Matt was sold out.

I went to probably 12 high school games last year. I was absolutely astounded at the number of parents with their own notepads or stat books.
#17
Les Trimble would be a great hire imo.
#18
This truly a shame. This is just another blackeye for Paintsville High School athletics. First, Jason Kinner and now Matt Ratliff. Both undercut my the same power.:dontthink
#19
Les Trimble would be a very surprising hire to me. He underachieved at Johnson Central, where he was fired. If Paintsville hires a former Johnson Central coach, how will that look?
#20
I've heard for a while now that there may be somebody from a higher level of play that may seriously be interested in the position. I hate that Ratliff stepped down though, he's an outstanding guy and it's a shame that he was never really given full rein as somebody said earlier.

Billy Gillispie probably will need a job pretty soon, no?

A former Tiger who coaches at the collegiate level?

The aspect of higher level and definition there of is a little confusing. Over the last few years critical hires seem for the most part to come from outside the system. It could be Billy G but ones money should be on the cross creek stable and connection.
#24
Id rather let my dog coach at paintsville over Billy G lol.
#25
Do Tell Pupaw...LOL!
