57th district DRAW
#1
57th District at Magoffin County
May 21 - 6:00 PM - Paintsville vs. Johnson Central
May 22 - 6:00 PM - Sheldon Clark @ Magoffin County
May 22 - 7:30 PM - Paintsville/Johnson Central vs. Lawrence County
May 23 - 6:00 PM - CHAMPIONSHIP

Looks like 2 of the top teams in the 15th region are not going to make it out of district. Seeding should be mandatory. 58th, 59th, and 60th districts are already hoping they draw the winner of the Sheldon Clark/Magoffin Co. winner. What a joke.

So Magoffin County beating Paintsville on May 10th was a joke?
#3
I was referring to not seeding as a joke but Magoffin County was mercied by Paintsville last week. Despite winning 20 plus games, they have not beat a team with a winning record..

According to the scoreboard Magoffin beat Paintsville by a score of 7 to 5 on May 10, 2012.
They are 24W-7L for the season, 12W-2L Region and 2W-1L District.
While paintsville is 1W-7L in District play and has an overall losing season.
And other than Pikeville; I don't think any of the 58,59 and 60th are licking their chops to get at Magoffin.

Magoffin County may be 24-7 on the season, but to look at that schedule they have I almost fell over laughing. They may have the worst schedule in the state this season. Their opponents combined record on the year is 291-355.
They've played two teams in the region this year with a winning record and one was because they had to in the All A. Their record against teams that's 500 and below is 21-4. This includes multiple games against the 15th region's worst teams and the annual Magoffin County spring sport "whipping boy" Wolfe County. Magoffin's record against teams above 500 is 3 and 3. Lets not forget about the epic showdown today with 0-16 Phelps and Saturday's twin bill with Jackson City, who has a winning record, but they're beating the same types of teams that Magoffin is.

Team like magoffin is? One of the top 4 in 15th, 2nd best in 57th, not to be Magoffin. Plus they are young and improving, very smart scheduling for young team which has paid off with girls playing at much high level now than at start of season. If you disagree repost after we see how district and region plays out.

Hard to know how good (or bad) they actually are because they have only beaten one team with a winning record. You can't really call them the 2nd best team in the 57th district either when they won't play 2 of the teams in the district. Just padding their stats as the saying goes.

Why not?
Sounds like Coach knew what he was doing and it worked out for his team. Confusednicker: Confusednicker: Confusednicker:

After reading these threads I have to say, sounds like the coach from Magoffin is doing his job...taking care of his team...if playing weaker teams isn't helping then why is his team beating Paintsville and tieing with Pikeville?? as far as Johnson Central and Lawrence who knows...he may have to play them soon......no matter what ALL teams will have to play their best to win...last year Magoffin lost the district but won the region...time will tell so please stop the complaining...he just beat you all defending his young team.
#13
No Coach does his team any favors by playig a weak schedule for an entire season. All that does is give you false hope. You start out weak and then player better teams as the season goes. Someone also brought up District and Regional Records of Paintsville and Magoffin.....8 of Paintsville's losses have come against JC, LC, and Pike. Three of your top teams in the Region and also three teams that Magoffin hasn't played. Yeah MC beat Paintsville once. But, hey...even a blind squirrel finds a nut every once and awhile.

Drawing for tournaments should be outlawed and banned through out the state. All it does is put teams that, don't deserve to be, in Regions. Because of this. TWO of the 57th's best teams will NOT get to go. Nothing against MC or SC. But, IMHO...they are the 4 & 5 of the 57th.

You may be right but every squirrel does deserve a nut...and in the end the better team will win...IMHO pikeville is the team to beat in the region anyway...good luck to both magoffin and Johnson central, right or wrong they are representing the 57th.

This is to everyone who complained and cried about Magoffin playing a weak schedule and for saying that the Lady Hornets are not in the same league as Johnson Central. Coach Holbrook said that you all can KISS HIS ASS!!!!!!!!

So did magoffIn beat central???
#18
Just found out Johnson Central beat Magoffin with a score of 5-4 wow!! Magoffin must have found a big nut!!! Haha... Sounds like a good game tho. Congrats to central and great job to magoffin for playing a great game.

I'll have a small serving of crow. MC played a good game. Better than I for one thought with the schedule they played. I wish nothing but the best for them and JC in the 15th Region Tourney. I hope it ends up them facing each other again.

And no matter the outcome....I still HATE the draw!
