Wonder what's served by Bennett waiting?
#1
In Anthony Bennett's position, he doen't have any considerations
of who else might sign with his school if he signs first. At the schools
on his list, he will be the frontrunner to play at his slot no matte who
might sign after. So what purpose does it serve for him to wait?

I suppose it may be possible that he really can't make up his mind,
but it seems unlikely at this stage of the game.
#2
Could be eligibility issue? Might just like the spot light? Might rly be torn on were to go?
#3
It's the biggest decision of his life. If he wants to drag it out for a bit I don't blame him honestly.

He's waiting for the NBA to open up the draft to HS players.....

Seriously, I agree with O, I'm confident he has made up his mind. My opinion is that he is milking this for all it's worth. I walked out for lunch yesterday and passed a co-worker who I chat UK Basketball with all the time. As we passed, he had his cell phone out like he was on a phone call and he said "Hey Anthony, we really need you here at UK...". It's on everyone's mind. This kid is the final Blue Chipper and he is getting ALLLLLLLL of the attention. He's going to hang on to it for as long as possible.

If that's the case, then that's a player that won't fit in with Cal very well.

He is a one and done so he will fit in just fine.

One and done is NOT an issue. A player that wants to draw attention
to himself for the sake of publcity, and is playing up the attention
angle, is NOT a fit for what Cal has done here. He has taken
superstar recruits who have been about the TEAM first.
I'm not saying Bennett IS such, just that if he's waiting
to announce a choice for publicity purposes, it would lead
you to believe he was.

Dusty, you are way, way, wayyyy to negative, about nearly everything, lol.

The kid isn't eligible yet, that's why it's taking so long. Boom. The more you know......

Bennett no longer considering UK, UNLV and Oregon are only 2 teams left on his list according to allkentuckyhoops.com......
#10
^ I haven't checked but gosh I hope your wrong.

This isn't the first time this has happened and probably won't be the last. Patrick Patterson and Randolph Morris did the same thing with Kentucky. A relative from Patrick Patterson even called into their local news station and said he was going to Florida just shortly before his press conference. An article was written on his decision and quickly taken down after he announced Kentucky later on that day.

KSR is saying the same, looks like he's going to stay out west.

Anthony Bennett (Brampton, Ontario/Findlay Prep), the best remaining player in the 2012 class, has narrowed it down to two schools -- UNLV and Oregon -- after eliminating Kentucky and Florida recently.

Once he chooses UNLV or Oregon, he will be expected to be one of the main guys right away. Bennett is a hybrid scorer who has the body of a power forward in terms of width and girth, but not height, as he stands 6-foot-7. His skill level is terrific as he knocks down deep shots and punishes like-size defenders in the paint with power and finesse. He makes up for his lack of height with his 7-foot-plus wing span that enables him to contest shots, rebound and get deflections and steals.

If UNLV is to land the local product, who plays for Findlay Prep, it would send shock waves through the MWC and the nation. He would join fellow ESPN 100 recruit, SG Katin Reinhardt (San Juan Capistrano, Calif./Mater Dei) who is battle tested playing at Mater Dei under legendary coach Gary McKnight. Reinhart is a long-range shooter who has a scorer's mentality and good vision to make the assist when needed.

He has cut UK.
He will decide between UNLV and Oregon this weekend.

Something i will say is that people are stupid. This is a child trying to make a college decision. Yes i would have liked to seen him come to UK, but we have some real dumbasses for fans.
Look at his twitter page of UK and Florida fans cussing him out.
http://twitter.com/#!/abennett24 On a funny note though, his twitter followers fell about 5,000 people when he cut UK lol.

I assume we will see a commit from Jefferson now, although a lot of people believe he might choose Puke.
#15
^ I hope you're wrong on that!

^
Me to but every thing ive read says he'll go to puke or nc state.

I truly wonder what is causing a few of these guys to skip UK? It was vogue to come to UK over the past two years. No knock, the program still has a great class coming in, but if I would have been asked to bet on whether a guy like Shabazz or Bennett would wind up at UK, I would have put money on it. Two likely transfers decide against UK as well. Is the honeymoon coming to an end, meaning UK will not dominate the classes as they did the last three years?

I was wondering the same....maybe it is because with us winning the Championship last year, the recruits do not want to be compared to that team......or maybe these kids just want to get their year out of the way and do not care about championships...
#19
Part of me wonders if the Florida fans swayed his decision when they told him he would be riding the bench at UK lol.

not good, kids turning down UK...

I like that idea. Do you think it could be in these kids minds that they want ot be part of bringing back a team from obscurity and be the one's who did it. So, Kids have brought UK back, won a title, so now it's no longer important. Now, two programs - UCLA and UNLV, two storied programs for different reasons, but two programs that are less than stellar, are cool to be part of winning a title that has not been won in a long time???
#22
The only difference now is you have UK or you wanna go to southern california to UCLA or Vegas to UNLV.

Both sound much warmer than Lexington lol.

^this......the only reason a one and done player would come here is the chance to win a championship during that year. IMO seems less desirable if you are trying to repeat.

^ I think it has a lot to do with being remembered for getting that school a Title! This UK class will be remembered for decades because they are the names who helped UK get a title after a 14 year dry spell. So, is it cool anymore for those guys that are only going to be around for one year and truly have no long term connection with the school. So, the Class that helps UCLA win a title will be immortalized at UCLA when that happens, more so than if they kids came to UK and helped them win another title. We as fans don't want to accept that, but I truly think this is coming into play with today's young superstars. Once UCLA wins, then the future kids won't have a desire to go to UCLA. It's just going to be a cycle.

Now, all that said, UK is NOT falling off. That's not my point. My point is that we will still get the GREAT players, but we may not see what we had the last three years where we got ALL of the BLUE CHIP guys.

Agreed! Anytime you succeed somebody great, you are going to be compared to that person. The same with somebody bad. For example, I think of Tubby Smith with UK basketball. Tubby had the tough, tough job of succeeding Rick Pitino. People compared his success to Pitino's success and it was hard to keep up. Pitino came in after Eddie Sutton. Pitino is a legend at Kentucky and what he did was amazing, but had somebody come in and not done as good as Pitino did they would still be looked at pretty highly because they came in after Eddie Sutton, who nearly ran UK basketball into the ground.

They want a team to themselves...simple as that.

Bennett has officially cut us from his list..now it's up to UNLV or Oregon, and he's going to pick UNLV. Man I hope we play them..he's such an idiot.

I wasn't on his bandwagon anyway. The kid can't even get eligible...we don't need that.

To be honest i dont believe this kids give a damn about winning in college or getting a championship while there being recruited. It's all about being the star and how quick they can get in the NBA.
When they get to college they realize the significance of what the game means to the fans and to the school, just like what happened at UK this year.
