Those, even among the UK faithful, who are piling on to UK over scheduling
need to get some perspective.
For DECADES, UK has been playing a better, stronger non-conference
schedule than ANYONE besides Louisville. Some of the non-conference
schedules of other basketball "powers" such as Syracuse, Gtown,
or even Carolina when Deanie was still there, would embarass
some NAIA schools.
UK fans, have probably rightly been put out with the strength
of the schedule in Rupp. But need to understand that if you
want high profile games against name opponents to aid recruting,
most of those are going to have to come in these made for tv events
that move around the country. And not coincidentally aid in bringing
in those top recruits from different parts of the nation.
Before you bee-hotch and moan over UK's schedule, get on line this
fall and check out some of the other top scheds of big names in
D-1. Overall they do NOT compare to UK. UK fans are too guilty
of only seeing the high profile games other big names play because
they are the only ones they see promoted. ANd they forget
that that's 1 or 2, compared to the 4,5 or 6 comparable that
UK will play. And won't bother to see that those teams also
bring in a bunch of sacrificial lambs to their arenas with a
payout to them too.

I beg that you stop criticizing everyone but Kentucky.
I would like to have a serious debate with you but you make too many ridiculous threads for me to keep up with you.

Sorry bud, but you've gotten your replies mixed up. I haven't
made many posts, and certainly NONE of them of them are
ridiculous. Just plain old reality. For years UK has been playing as
strong or stonger, a non conference schedule than any
other team in basketball. SUre there will be an outlier
year, where say a Mich State might play a couple more top
name teams than UK, buyt not year to year.
And if you will look at the schedule of any team considered a
top tier program, you will see ALL of them bringing in a series
of sacrifices to their home arenas. If you look at say a
Syracuse, you might not see any thing BUT cream puffs in
a typical year.

To have a thread that says "stop criticizing UK" is ridiculous.
The criticism of UK is definitely not an issue on this board.

The post says stop "RIDICULOUS" criticism of UK. Whne UK
annually plays a better nonconference schedule than most any
team in college ball, and when INDIANA unilaterally ended
the attempts to renew the contract for the game, it is
RIDICULOUS to criticize UK for it.
It's a discussion forum, and if someone has LEGITIMATE
gripes about the Wildcat program, have at it.

I really want to type in CAPITAL LETTERS for some reason.

UK just won the national championship and I certainly don't see fans complaining too much with the direction our program is heading or the schedule. Calipari knows what he's doing. Observing, or DSR fan, whichever one you are, be glad that you weren't on here during the time of Billy Gillipsie or during the latter years of Tubby Smith. You probably would've had a stroke.

Just trying to help the semi-literate. You seem to have a hard
time catching the point in posts, so I thought I'd help you out.

Well, on behalf of the fully literate, I will say it just adds to the ridiculousness.

On behalf of everyone semi-literate and under...
I'll go ahead and say it adds to the ridiculousness as well.

I think UK is in the wrong for not wanting IU to come to Lexington or UK going to IU. Regular season games are meant to be played on campus. The quality of IU/UK games got some much better when they stopped playing the games in Indy and Louisville. Neutral site games should only be played in the post season. I can't stand watching these early season game where both teams travel hundreds of miles to play in a half empty arena. As a UK fan, I think UK is the blame for not wanting to play on someone else's home court or a good team coming to Rupp in December. I believe that IU would have beaten UK in Rupp if they had an opportunity to come in the 12-13 season. This makes Calipari look like that he his scared to come into someone else's place to play a big game.

^Jarons, that is dead on accurate. The excitement comes from the home crowd. The reason UK is acceptable of playing on neutral courts is because they make all of those games as HOME courts. If I was one of the other schools, I wouldn't play on a neutral court against UK either. Play home and away!

Consecutive posts that make sense!

Unjust fan behavior in Bloomington last December has also been discussed as a potential reason for Kentucky wanting to move the game away from Assembly Hall. Certainly the behavior of IU fans, which wouldn’t have even been discussed had Christian Watford’s shot not gone in, was no worse than the couches burning in the streets or the bullet that hospitalized a man in his 30s in the aftermath of Kentucky’s NCAA Championship last month.

All Kentucky and Indiana did was sever a premier college basketball rivalry at a time Indiana proved TWICE in one season that they were back to national prominence. The Carolina series isnt anything special to me, but the IU and Louisville games actually mean something to nearly every UK basketball fan, and the UK game is just as important (especially now) to Indiana fans. I thought this was just a selfish move..

It is 100% a case of butthurt-itis.
I can guarantee you that if UK would have won the game last year this contract would have been renewed.

That guy in his 30s was wanted on felony charges and was fighting and arguing with others. I'm not justifying the behavior but he was hardly some innocent bystander.

Probably wouldn't have drawn fire had the fans not been tearing down the neighborhood???? He wouldn't have had reason to leave Lousiville, but he had already heard of the week long "Burn down the town" mantra, so hell, why not go to Lexington to get shot!!!
05-06-2012, 12:00 PM
Like I said, I'm not justifying the behavior.

Just make sure you don't go into a dialysis clinic with a IU sweater on.
