#6
Pikeville had 4 players in double digit scoring. East Ridge started fouling with over 3 minutes to go. They didnt give Pikeville the chance to turn the ball over by intentional fouling 23 times. Pikeville hit 27 freethrows in the game.

All right Pikeville!!

Boy am I glad that I got to see this game :thumb: Pikeville played GREAT!!

Pikeville fought back hard! They were down like 4-5 at the half and got behind by 10+ early in the 3rd. They took the lead by 10 early in the 4th and ER never got it any closer than 6. Pikeville's big men played GREAT -- Champlin, Robertson, Boyd. Not many TOs for the Panthers but still had some bad shots.

The ref bashing will start soon enough. It looked to me like Pikeville got away with a couple fo fouls but then again ER got by with a BUNCH of walks. So were they makeup calls? Who knows. ER's coach got a T late in the game only to be followed by a player when he was arguing the first.

Pikeville shot FT really well in this game. And for some reason ER started fouling with 3:00+ to go  At this point they were only down by single digits. PHS made them when they needed to and pulled away!

Congrats PANTHERS!!!

Not to mention this is Pikeville's first win over East Ridge EVER!
#10
IMO...the Officiating wasn't the best I'd ever seen...but ER's Coach Dennie Paul May did get a Technical called on him late in the game for what it appeared to be discussing with the referee about watching a certain PHS Player in the post...as well as ER's Junior David Ratliff also got a Technical Foul for doing the same thing. Either way bad officiating...congrats to Pikeville...Good Game on both sides...looks like it's shapen up to be a great 59th District Tournament on the Ridge this year.

Did you make that sig Franchise or is that QQs work??....its pretty sweet.

What you described is just Coach May's style. He is the hot headed, jump up, smack the floor, throw the clipboard, shove the chair kind of coach. That's not typical of East Ridge. You will see alot of that in heated games this year from him IMO. He was like that back at Elkhorn City anyway. As for them fouling, I believe that too is just a trait of him. He wants to stop the clock way too early when the boys could have actually made some plays to come back up and not gave P-ville the chance to shoot that many free throws.

Hopefully East Ridge fans don't get on here and make asses of themselves and try to blame stuff on the refs. Refs make bad calls, in all games, for all teams. That simple. Don't represent your school badly because I for one will be mad if people for MY team starts to whine about this one and make themselves and the school look bad.

Congratulations to Pikeville on the win. It's been a long time coming. East Ridge just isn't the team that they used to be. It will probably be YEARS before the team builds back up to what it has been. They have only 3 seniors this year. It's not exactly what you would call a rebuilding year either because I don't think that next year will step up either...who knows though.

Best of luck to East Ridge as they continue into the season. Don't hang your heads over a lose, just use it on the court and win the next one. Good luck guys!

i thought Pikeville played great from what i saw on TV...ER just took stupied shots basicly they need to sit Willams on the bench for a game and see if he plays better when he has to prove somthin

Pikeville shot 23-for-32 from the line in the final 2:23 of the game.

This is a good win, and the first win for Pikeville over East Ridge ever, but the thing I find more amazing is...This is Pikeville's first 59th district win since January 4th, 2002 in a 3 point win over the Millard Mustangs...It was their only district win of the year....That's insane...
#16
Congrats P-Ville how many did Adams have?

That really shows how far this once good program has been down. With the coaching staff that Pikeville has in place now I think they have a chance to get back where they were several years ago. There are usually a lot of good athletes in Pikeville High, they should field a good team most seasons.

Great win for Coach Williams and this young Panther squad. Hopefully they can keep improving and get some excitement back into the Pikeville basketball program.

Is it just me or do the Panthers look a lot more PHYSICALLY STRONGER this year? Not just the post kids (actually, other than #25, they seem to be the spindly-est). The guards seem CUT like so many of the college basketball players look like today.

Maybe Williams knows something most of the "old school" bball coaches don't???
#24
Thank the football coach for that Football24...They hit the weights really hard...
#25
Big win for Pikeville congrats.
#26

he has carried this team on his back for the past three years that is bull crap im pretty sure you have had players such as Aaron Branham and Robbie Spears and Paul Diece...Williams has not so hardly any playing time on vasity up until this year...He really may be in my eyes one of the worst point guards in the 15th region...

The officiating was horrible.. and no it wasnt with over 3 minutes left that the East Ridge team started fouling.. there was 2:25 left.. and i havent a clue as to why they did.. Coach May hadnt given them any thing but to play ball only being down by 5 at that point, but east Ridge continued fouling ended up with 24 team fouls.. and Yes Coach may is hotheaded but also he cotrolled his temper well for as those refs couldnt call a little league game.. due to the fact that i think p ville only had 1 foul in the whole second half until they were up by 9... ??? and than they started calling fouls when the game was outta reach.. so the tribe does this embarrass ur school?? as to when u know the refs didnt call anything refs do make bad calls.. but when they make no calls at all that matters.. btw when Pikeville had only 1 foul east ridge already had 11 in the second half so i mean what do u do..u cant talk to a ref if ur a player.. all they do is give u technical fouls and such.. O.o and the McCoy incident.. FOUR Fouls... so why did he have to sit.. ill never know.. maybe a stat sheet would come in handy.. but like 20 seconds before he got that last foul it was his third.. so.. i mean 1+1 equals 2.. and 2= ? not 5... so there ya go.. other than that.. Pikeville good win.. be prepared to come to the East Ridge gym.. and go home with ur heads down.. Vengence is beautiful Smile btw Decent win P-ville... .does anyone have any stats for the Warriors..??? if so i would like to see them
