Simon Kenton (10-13) advanced to the semifinals of the regional tournament last season before losing to eventual champion North Oldham and new coach Troy Roberts inherits a solid team and a tough 1-2 pitching punch in senior Josh Berger and junior Vic Newberry. Walton-Verona (13-15) returns eight starters, including top pitchers Dustin Cottrell, a senior, Jared Dwyer, a junior, and Christian Lohr, a sophomore. Grant County (14-6) lost just four seniors to graduation off last year’s district runner-up team that lost in the first round of the regional tournament, but one of them was all-state selection Aaron Goe. Williamstown (2-17) is still rebuilding.
