Letcher Central Open

You know the average salary of a coach in Kentucky is absolutely nowhere near that amount.....

Grade school success does not translate high school success and that should be very evident with the recent years and recent players. I believe someone young and energetic needs to be brought in, someone who will be at the school and around the kids and someone who can relate to them. The school does not need a coach who is there to collect the paycheck and is looking to retire as soon as possible.

Time to bring back LM..........

I like LM but I don't think he is the one for this program......we need someone that will not cave in to the crying parents if little johnny don't play enough, and someone that the administration will give full reign of the program to, and stay out of it!!!!!!

Have you lost your mind too Can Of Corn? Look at his record! We've wasted enough time trying to take care of coaches who can't coach and help them pad their retirement accounts. Maggard is too easily influenced by people and brings too much baggage with his personal life. Check out why he left Morgan Co. he wouldn't have made it this long if he was any where but Letcher Co.

You really want to get me going don't you? Don't come on here spouting off statistics like you're Bill James. He's coached at MORGAN COUNTY AND JENKINS. Vince Lombardi couldn't have a record much better than Maggard at those two places. No talent=no wins. You can only improve a player so much before he's at his peak unless its God-given. What are you supposed to do when your best player is Ryan Bentley and runs a 4.7+. Get real. Don't skew statistics like that to make a point when Jenkins will probably never have a winning season again. Regardless of how hard he works his boys.

LCPS would be making a mistake NOT to give him at least an interview. Anna will probably go California to get a "big-name" and by big name I mean a coach who's uncle's friend knew Andrew Luck's peewee football waterboy. Welcome to the dark ages Letcher Central football.

Letcher County pays way above average salary for coaches all you have to do is look at he previous too coaches both made in the high 60's.

Maggard will not be hired and their will be no interview process.

You seem to either have inside knowledge or just confidence in that statement. What else do you know?

There is a committee of one. ACraft. Larry Maggard will not even be considered. He left Letcher County on the road side of the fence.
My best guesses would be Dixon(Hazard), Holcomb(Breathitt Co), or anyone else with a state title.

Holcomb won't leave Breathitt, I don't think. The only school he said he'd leave Breathitt for was Madison Central and he didn't even leave for that Job when they were looking for a Coach

You must be smoking crack to think Holcomb would leave Breathitt, the man is practically a god there. Holcomb will be at Breathitt until he retires from coaching.

My wish is that they look at Randy Frazier come on home boy.
#46
LM? are you serious....everybody knows that he hates Letcher Central!!!!!!
#47
Frazier was a name I thought I would see all over this thread! Good Luck from Harlan County!
#48
If Whitaker did indeed resign, they really don't need to wait. They need to get in gear ASAP!

I have no insider knowledge but you can look at previous coach hiring and figure out the process.
Hire a hot name pay hot name high salary get rid of hot name after 3 or 4 years. Start process over.
#50
It's time for Randy Frazier to come home. Randy has been around coaching for a while now. He is a home town boy. Some people have kept him from coming home, but it's time to get over it. I am hearing he is the popular choice among people in the community. Lets hire one of our own and get this program on the right track. I can't think of a more logical choice. He is not a Holcomb, but he is the perfect fit for Lecture.
#51
Umm..Big Al and Little Al....Welcome to Letcher Central. MARK IT DOWN! Wink
#52
There is definitely a big push being made to bring the Holland family to Letcher County. We can only wait and see if (a) Hammonds did resign (or if he is fired/not-renewed after the school year) and (b) They can lure both AH Sr. and AH Jr.
#53
Time for Jenkins to play an independent schedule so Larry Maggard can improve his record.
#54
Holcomb has invested too much time and energy in buliding a football powerhouse at Breathitt, to leave now, imo. However, with all the turmoil involving the Supt., School Board members, and other administrators, he may be more willing to listen.
#55
Heard it from a teacher this morning that he did tell his players this week that he did resign.

I heard Chapman as head coach and Ben Howard as Offensive Cord. was goin to be the new coaches. Lets pray to god. The last time Holland left Whitesburg Football field he was on a stretcher. So I dont see him getting much respect around here from his old football buddies around here. Sorry
#57
Randy Frazier is done to he has no chance. Sorry. His time is over.
#58
Holland's would be A+ hires for both programs at LCC IMO. That would be the route I would go with.
#59
I'm curious if you Letcher supporters are completely closed to bringing in someone from the outside again. I sense that is what the thinking is. What if there was a coach with very good success (been to state championships as an assistant and head coach from what i am told) not connected to the county in any way but is looking for a place that will support him in building a state level program? I don't think he considers himself a "hot shot" type of guy. I know he tells me he is considering applying. Is a guy like that out of the question this time around. Just curious of opinions.
#60
If he can get these kids modivated and get excitement back to cougarama, I am all for it. I just wanted the zealous, and the desire back in the program. We went from 90 kids to 35-40 in two years. Something has to be done to get decent amount of that back.
