East Ridge 50 Sheldon Clark 48 (15th Region First Round)
#31
No district winner advanced this year.
The one thing happened tonight that I was afraid of all year...My boys got exposed...they're a decent team with two real good players.
I hope East Ridge makes it to Rupp because they are the best option we(15th) have to win a game in the state tourney.

Dunk report?

1 for Johnson, 1 for Kosongo. Both nice, but the alley-oop to Johnson was pretty.
#34
Top to Bottom... East Ridge are just as or even more talented then SC.

^ Very true!

I'm not gonna get on here and dawg SC, for one cause I had them winning. BOY was I wrong, I knew ER had the talent though but didn't give them a chance.

Most people picked SC and were wrong, but most people on here also said If Ray comes with his head in the game, ER would win. That's exactly what happened. Plus, I think Wolter plays with so much heart and that'll take him a long way.

But as a poster said above, ER shouldn't count their chickens like SC did, Messer is a force down low and Belfry isn't a team to take loosely.

Congrats and good luck ER. Congrats SC on a great season and I still say Johnson is one of the most talented players in the region.

Actually SC beat ER earlier this year by 17 without Ray playing for ER.
#37
Congrats ER, imagine that, Spurlock out coached by a rookie. Couldn't of happened to a nicer guy.
#38
Congrats to Coach Spurlock and his team on a good season.

East Ridge has some talent and theres no reason why East Ridge should've lost some of the games that they've lost this season. Maybe it was bc of having a rookie Head Coach or I've even heard some people say they just don't play hard all the time but There is too much talent there to lose to Cordia, Prestonsburg, Phelps, and SV... But looks like they are playing now....

Wow in a previous thread you stated " East Ridge is 17-12 for a reason and Sheldon Clark is 26-6 for a reason. They've been the best team in the region all year long and solidified that Saturday night after they beat JC handily for the 2nd straight time." Now your saying that SC has two good players and a bunch of decent players and that East Ridge is the 15th's only hope to win a game at Rupp. It's amazing what a big ole slice of humble pie will do to you.

WOW....I've watched SC play several games this year. I didn't get to watch ER play at all. But from just following who was beating who during the season, this game shocks me more that Buckhorn beating PCC did. This is a very serious question, and I really am not trying to be a smart@ass. What in the world happened to ER the night they played Cordia? If ER is capable of beating SC even on a night when SC has it's worse game of the season, they should never have lost to Cordia. Did ER have players out that night or what?
#42
I'm going to go along with what somebody else said in an earlier post.

The 15th region is going to get hammered in Lexington.

Nope, same team that played last night, just played a worse team than Cordia :lmao:

Good job ER.I said it many times this season our 15th region refs are awful. They have teams they pull for thats a fact. You get fair refs and any team could win the 15th.Its why I think the district champs did not advance.

I've heard refs themselves say they have favorites lol

Wow, another great game at the expo last night. I seen a totally different Ray than i seen in a previous game. He & Johnson battled all night long. The ER team i seen last night was very impressive & seemed to have a little depth. Not much but enough to make a difference in the tournament.
I know Ray, Tony, & Johnny are the core of this team, but i have mentioned before & i stick to it that when they are getting all the attention from defenses & Hayden Mullins is left open that kid (from the games i've seen) just consistently knocks down the open jumper. I dont think he gets enough credit for his contributions. The ER team i seen last night played phenominal defense top to bottom.
Great game ER you beat a very good SC team. Some will try & say SC had a bad game or played the worst game of the year, but it was what it was because of the ER defense.
Good luck to you guys i think you give the 15th Region the best shot of making a good showing at Rupp if the team that played last night shows up.

Congrats Warriors!!! I knew both games last night would be dandys. I was not disappointed!!!!

In my opinion, East Ridge has the best overall talent of the four remaining teams. What does that mean? Not a whole lot, in all honesty, but I expect the winner of the 15th Region to come from a Betsy Layne - East Ridge final. Just one man's opinion.

The ER team that played last night was just as good as Sheldon Clark. How many people had seen that team this year???? My guess is, everyone had seen the side of them that took place during the timeout late in the 4th quarter when the big boy was going nuts on the bench.

There is nothing but a bunch of damn homers on this site. It really makes me laugh. Stir the pot up we got beat bottom line. But at least we did it with homegrown talent from the mtns of KY instead of bringing to boys in that drasticly effect how good our team is. IMO PIKE COUNTY BOE is the dirtiest in the state the super is so jealous of BHS. We have witnessed it happen in football and baseketball when is the state going to grow some nuts and stop this. If you cant win with what you got with boys that love their communtiy and play for their school dont win at all. You have to go out and get kids like this that only play for themselves. the canadians want to get a lil exposure at Rupp so hes going to step his game up. Go to hell PIKE COUNTY BOE.

Hurt much? lol Look, I'm not a huge fan of transfers either. But I seriously doubt your rant on Wagner at the BOE is even going to ripple his water. I don't have a dog in the fight, my kids attend Pikeville, but chill out some.

This coming from a school that got a fifth year senior from Louisville via Shelby Valley eligible this past football season.

Stay classy Martin County!:truestory:

He came in with a coach. Ad the team went 1 an 11 very different story. And I wast a fan Of him playing either. If you win do it with what you have. You can play that card all you want. Coach hager didn't recruit the player. So before you chime in with bs no what your talking about.
#57
Completely off topic, but the coach at SC was good friends with the coach that came that you speak of.

and didn't that coach get fired shortly after joining the team.
#58
Thought that this was the year of the cardinals. Earlier thread stated
sheldon clark had only 1-regional title (1983). Sure that the martin county faithful will replay this game for awhile & feel like they let another regional title slip by.

Yesterday you posted game would be decided by who wants it more. Maybe the Canadians wanted it more.

I know this is off topic, but I can't resist speaking to the above post. IMO, and for whatever it's worth, those that came to SC (coach, asst. coach, and players) last football season turned out to be a catastrophe.

Based upon many comments and observations that have gone around, SC would have probably fared much better with their "home grown" players. They couldn't have done much worse, could they?
