Yeah, I saw that Matt posted it. I don't think anyone is more deserving and I am glad that he got it!

Congrats Coach Noble!

Easy choice.

Congrats Coach Noble, well deserving!

IMO this one should still be up in the air.
Noble is deserving but I think Denny is having a great season as well.

14th region All "A" Champs.

Beat Perry Central (was a heavy favorite to win the 14th, and was ranked top 10 in the state). Also beat KCC who was ranked 1st or 2nd in the region throughout the year.

Beat arguable the best team in the 15th (Sheldon Clark)

Beat the top two teams in the 13th (Clay Co and Harlan Co)

Beat one of the top teams in the 12th (Pulaski Co)

24-5

Has a chance to win the region.

Denny has had a pretty good season in year one at BC.

I know you said IMO but come on Zaga. There is no question, Coach Noble should been COY.

Congrats to Coach Noble!

There was actually 2 Co-Coaches of the Year from the 14.

John Noble - Buckhorn

Brian Hall - Powell County

14th Region All "A" is great to talk about...
but in all honesty what did they do in that tourney?
They beat Leslie, Cordia, Wolfe, and a depleted Hazard team.
How many teams could've done that?

Denny is in his first year at Breathitt.
He also split the season with Knott.
Buckhorn is 24-5 while Breathitt is 23-5 so it isn't like the records aren't comparable.
Breathitt beat West Carter - Best team in the 16th (dead even with Rowan County)
Breathitt even beat Buckhorn on their homecourt.

I'm just saying this to defend my point and I don't want to take away anything from Coach Noble's season.
All I'm saying is that if Breathitt wins the title Denny Fugate is COY in my book. That doesn't mean anything to anyone else lol
I'm just saying it.

I eagerly wait an attempt for someone to refute my argument

I seen this on another site. Now, if there was going to be a co-COY I can't see how you wouldnt give it to Coach Fugate.

Coach Hall's First District Title.

Powell is have a good season so is Breathitt, so it really could have went to either Coach Hall or Coach Fugate

Powell's first district title since 2006/07.

Last Time Powell held the Districts (2007/8) Estill walked away with the District Title

Coach Hall probably got it because of how powell is playing this season (wins over Hazard, Wolfe, West Carter) and because of him winning his first District Title

This has been Powell's best team since 2006/7. When they score 60+ they are 17-5 and are 12-4 at home.

Congrats Coach Noble!!! Very good points Zaga. I guess Buckhorn gets more of the love due to the Hoosiers feel. The 14th is very lucky to have both of these coaches. Tough to truly argue one over the other though, based on the numbers. Also if these teams meet up, not a big fan of saying the best coach is the one that wins. When all things are fairly equal, ultimately the kids make the plays. Good luck the rest of the tourney to all the remaining 14th region teams!!!

Coach Noble has done a fantastic job, and the above resume proves it. But I'm still puzzeled how Buckhorn laid an egg against Owen County in the All A State Tournament in Frankfort. Owen County is rated like 8th in the 8th region. Not exactly a powerhouse.
I suppose it was just one of those days that happens in the course of a season. They just didn't show up to play on that day.

Isn't it the 14th region coaches who vote for this award? I don't know if things have changed but in years past very few coaches usually turn in a ballot.

And why would the COY award be voted on at this time? Seems it would make more sense to wait until the post season tournaments are finished.

Just one of those deer in the head light looks from these guys in that one, just couldn't deal with all the pressure I guess. Like you said, just one of those days. Congrats to Coach Noble, well deserved.
