Knott county central 60 - Letcher county central 56 (53rd district championship)
#1
final
#2
Knott is the favorite . will be a nice region tournament

Thoughts from this game: Davis is a *****. Hammonds needs to return to West Jessamine. Johnson is the best defender in the region and probably this side of the state. Justice will never amount to anything if he keeps whining to refs about every call that doesn't go his or his team's way.

Congrats on the district win, how many is that in a row? I wonder where Cam get that wining to the officials from? Hmmmmm
#5
Does anybody have any stats for this game?

for him to be such a big vagina there hasnt been anybody this season stop him from gettin to the rim. He does it at will. It shows how low you are gettin on here talkin junk about a high school student, but you know what they say:haters:

if anybody did any whinning in the game it was coach hammonds. If he would keep his focus on the game instead of the refs his team would have a chance to win the region. For calling a player that still in high school names that is low. Its easy to call a high school student names on here instead (which is very low of a person) but if you want to call kids names say it in the kids face or in front of the kids parents face.

Lol, Hammond's cant coach, he whines to take the focus away from his inability to coach, I mean with that bunch of kids he should be able to win a District......not taking anything away from Knott because they are a good team and they just came out and took it!!

Wouldn't have a problem with Davis he wouldn't do the same routine every big game. Get hurt. Come back in and be a hero. It's a show. A big put on. I agree. Hammonds flat out cannot coach. A good coach adapts his style to fit his players. Not make the players adapt to his style. $95,000 a year for what?

You are about as cold hearted as they come. Zach Davis has had surgery on both knees. So if you are right, and he is just putting on a show, then he sure has taken some drastic measures to get to put on that show for you. I am willing to bet he would be glad to trade knees with you if he could.

I wouldn't trade sacks with .him, that's for sure

Maybe Hammonds coaches his team to a style that he thinks fits them? I've watched them play a couple of times over the past 2 years, and I think that this bunch has some pretty decent talent, but at times some key guys just seem uncoachable. Ballou SHOULD have his way with anybody that tries to guard him man to man. Logan Johnson is one of the better all around players in that region, and Stewart is a man child inside, when he wants to be. Every time I've seen them play I see a group of kids that appear to have some other concerns, than that of the team.
But back to Hammonds. When he was at West Jessamine he coached Jarrod Polson, and pretty much made him the player that he was for his senior year. He coached them to a Final Four in '09 and they definitely liked to push the tempo. They averaged nearly 70 points per game that season in a tough defensive minded 12th region, which IMO is much tougher than the 14th. How many of you that constantly dog him on here actually watched his "style of play" as you call it prior to his arrival to Letcher Central?
#14
What has he done at Letcher Central?

A 4 point loss in the District Championship to a very talented KCC team. A regional tournament loss to an eventual Sweet Sixteen participant. And his team gave KCC all they wanted in his first season there, when in all reality that game should've been a blowout in the district tournament. The man has been there for 3 years. Is this his best team since being there? Maybe. They are definitely a good group of players. But that's why they play the game. He knows the game, and in talking to several of his past players they have the upmost respect for him both on and off the floor and feel that he is an outstanding basketball coach.

I see a recurring theme here. All the games you mentioned above were LOSSES. That's what coaches are judged upon.

The region loss you speak of was a prime example that he cant coach, he had a 6or 7 point lead with 5 or 6 minutes left and tried to hold the ball against a team that holding the ball is their style, and how did we get the lead......he was pushing the ball up the floor and getting easy buckets,!!Cordia last year at their place we are up 13 or so, called the press off and we went to walking the ball up the floor, and cordia had two shots at the end to tie the game up at 53! Holding the ball when your down , i have seen games where we kill 3 or 4 minutes on the clock AND WERE DOWN come on if that's coaching then everything I learned when I played and have seen for the last 60 years has been all wrong, you could take someone with minimal knowledge of the game and tell those kids to go play and have fun, and win, and tell them once in a while they done something good and they would do just that!! A coach is a guy who looks at the talent he has and can adapt his style of coaching to the talent he has, he also SHOULD be a guy who doesnt jerk a kid out for ONE mistake tell the kid about his mistake sure and if he does the samething again sure take him out, I have watched almost every game they have played the last three years, and I can tell you he CANT coach!

no he wasnt, he was playing just as slow as we were. the score was in like the high 20s going in to the fourth of that game. lol

I know the game was low scoring, if I remember right the final was 37 to 34, but what does that have to do with how we got the lead, the six or seven point lead we had in that game came from pushing the ball down the court....and there is so many instances where good coaching would have won games!!! I will say this, if Hammonds stays at Lcc the 14th region wont have to worry about them ever being a threat to win anything!

When you say hold the ball, do you mean literally they stood out at the top of the key and held the ball? I've seen a lot of teams do that and I was just wondering if that's the case here. Because I didn't see that game in particular you're speaking of. But I feel as though he's adapted to his talent. I don't know what style of play you all think he should coach this team to but they are not full of D-1 athletes. I feel like a slowed down pace is better for this bunch personally, and to push the ball on occassion when you've got the numbers.
What happened in this game? What did Hammonds do that left you with the impression that he needs to go back to West Jess?
#22
District championship games are NOT elimination games. LCC is three wins away from going to Rupp just like the district winners are. PCC isn't even in the field of eight and LCC will be guaranteed not meeting KCC until the finals (if both get there). Beating a team 4x in a season would be tough (losses to KCC were by 6, 10, and 4 points).

If you take away the three losses to KCC, LCC is (3-1) against the teams in the regional tournament.

12/16- LCC 63, Breathitt Co. 60
1/28- LCC 68, Estill Co. 54
2/10- Hazard 49, LCC 43 (Overtime)
2/15- LCC 44, Buckhorn 37

Congrats to KCC! Best of luck in the region!

We were trying to HOLD the ball not looking to score, but of course we turned the ball over! I don't know to many High School teams that are loaded with D1 players at least here in the mountains! Lcc should be playing at a faster pace than they do, all of these kids played AAU ball together, and they RAN teams out of the gym( with another coach of course) I know your not going to be able to do that EVERY game, I understand that! We don't rebound very well, we are never in the right spots on defense, we don't pass very well, all of this is a reflection on the coach, they say you play like you practice!!!! BTW I never said he should go back to WEST Jessamine, I have nothing personal against him, other than I do not think he is a good coach, matter of fact I think he is a good asset for the school system and community just not in the capacity as a coach!!!!

Did Davis get checked out after this one?
When he came back in he was limping pretty badly.
#26
Letcher had several chances to steal this one late but simply didn't convert them.
Knott can coast to the title IF they watch the turnovers.
#27
I called KCC by 4. Congrats KCC.

LCC players and coaches have NO heart. Have said it all year. As for coach Hammonds.....He isn't going anywhere unless HE decides too. He (coach) has done a horrible job with this team in 2012. Listening to the fans last night at the game says it all. But hammonds is in with the right people in letcher and he will be there until he decides to leave. And remember people, why would he leave? He is making a very nice salary in an area that is much cheaper to live in then Jessamine county. Do you think he really wanted to come to LCC to coach or come to make the big money while doing nothing. Its all about who you know. Look what happened with coach justice. Winning seasons with district championships and he gets the boot all because the right people in our county didn't like him. Lets look at what we have lost by letting him go.....Cameron Justice, best player in the 14th and he is a freshman.

He came back in and was fine. No limping at all until he got fouled and had to shoot FTs. Then all the sudden he had a limp again. It even got worse after he missed the FTs!!!! Then after his next basket his limping magically disappeared again.......:lame:

The players have no heart because he has taken it from them.....imagine being a player and know you can win games, but have to do the coaches game plan(if you can call it that) deviate from it and go set down, then be blamed for the guys mistakes that replaced you...lol!!! Alright I am going to be quiet now, we still have a game to play we aren't completely out of this thing yet, best of luck to the Cougars!! BTW I do agree with your post!!!!
