what defense in the second half, and finally hit some baskets, that win should do alot for them down the road, way to go cats..
#4
Great comeback win!
#5
Darius Miller won this game.
#6
I pretty much had 4 or 5 strokes. But it was fun to see us fight and come back like that though.

Great heart shown tonight.
Finally Miller steps up. I swear that guy is the streakiest player ever.

What a way to win, coming back on the road.

I think a lot of people were calling this as an upset, but i think UK proved tonight that there the team to beat.

BTW, i thought only teams with "experience" could do that?

Game Ball(s): Darius Miller & Michael Kidd-Gilchrist - These two young guys were terrific. Miller hit ridiculously huge shots. Yes, they were open, but very often open shots are the hardest to make. MKG frustrated Bost to the edge of his sanity and just a little beyond, and made hustle play after rebound after stickback. These two were equally huge, and without them both, this would not have been a victory.

----

Good Thoughts:

- Anthony Davis played the strangest game I've seen him play all year in the first half, but in the second, he did what he does best -- blocked shots, got rebounds, and scored close to the basket.

- Doron Lamb struggled all night from the field, but he ran the team extremely well while Teague was out with fouls -- so well, in fact, that Calipari left him in at the point for the rest of the game. Lamb made free throws, one big three, and just kept chugging along despite his perimeter touch being off.

- Terrence Jones had a terrible first half, but a monster second half defending, rebounding, and doing a ton of great work. He didn't have a great looking stat line, but trust me when I tell you he played better than his stats indicate, particularly in the second half.

----

Not So Good Thoughts:

- Marquis Teague just had a bad game. He was hypercaffinated or something. Teague took bad shots, turned the ball over, made defensive errors, got an unsportsmanlike technical for barking at the officials, and just generally was off his game. He made a couple of threes, but he was largely ineffective and just not himself.

- The whole team repeatedly failed to locate shooters and gave up a bunch of open threes, many of which went in. UK made it hard on themselves by failing to guard the Bulldog shooters, who are known to be more than capable.

- Kyle Wiltjer was injured shortly after entering the game, and although it's just a bruise, it looks like they want to make sure.

Second half was a totally different ball game. Even though Terrance Jones had a good 2nd half, he has got to have better games going into tournament play.
#10
A win is a win, but they cannot play like they did in the 1sthalf during tournament play.
#11
Crybabies lose again!!
#12
Miller hit some big shots...
but they would have been down double-digits if not for MKG.

I don't understand how they left so many shooters open.
I wouldn't have gave them room to breathe.
#13
IMO: This was the biggest win of the season for Kentucky... Learned a lot about the team in this game.
Because everything was going against the Cats'. And I mean everything....

-Cousins would have folded. Maybe been in a fight.
-Knight would have shot UK out of the game in 2nd half.

BUT....

-Davis, MKG, Teague, Lamb, Miller = Special Group

Am I the only one that thinks the T called on Davis for hanging on the rim was a bad call and really changed the momentum? I know it is a rule, but it has never been enforced, why in this game did the ref decide to call it? If you are going to call it, you need to call it all year and on all teams!

Absolutely!

I agree about the T on Davis!!

The two reasons why UK won this game.

This game will help the team in tournament play. Darius Miller showed myself a lot, MKG did what he always does. From 1st to 2nd halfs I could see the team mature in that short amount of time.

I agree. The only other players I've watched, in person at least, this year that dunk alot is Ray Kasongo and Alex Poythress. Kasongo has been called for a T for hanging on the rim, and Poy could have a few times but the refs let that high-flying game continue...those were actually good calls. But in college basketball, guys swing like that all the times, especially the light, long ones. He didn't jerk the rim down, his momentum is what made him swing...he barely got the ball to the basketball before he blocked himself on the rim, lol.

Just shouldn't have been called I think. The refs started thinking to much after that, and then finally got their calls straight after the missed a foul on us that caused the Miss St player to bitch and get T'd up. He was right, but we needed those extra free throws so I'm not arguin..hahah.

And Sidney is sooooo fat.

I don't see how you can call that T on Davis and not call one on Moultrie for hanging on the rim a couple minutes later, even though his dumbass antics earned him a T soon after anyways.

The T on Davis was a joke...he has had several calls like that all year. Like one person earlier mentioned, we had everything, and I mean everything, going against us. Those referees were atrocious, I knew when I saw them coming in that this was going to be a long night for us. One thing I like about Calipari is that he teaches his teams to be TOUGH! It's been a good while since I remember a UK team that had the kind of toughness we have had the past two years. Our losses have come from either upsets or close losses to good teams. Only one time, against UConn in the Maui invitational last year, has a Calipari team at UK been blown out.

We get everybody's best effort, and it's going to continue to be that way. Things are only going to get tougher. We still have Vandy at home, the swamp to go to, and the SEC tournament before we hit the big dance. We NEED to win these games. Being a #1 seed is great, but if I am correct we will likely be in Louisville for the first two rounds and CATlanta for the sweet sixteen and elite eight should we get the #1 overall.

Miller and KG made some great plays tonight especially late...Miller, especially, has proven to be a big clutch performer all year and IMO is underrated as a clutch player. He has hit a lot of big shots.
#23
The T on Davis shouldn't have been called because referees are so inconsistant with that call, but what might have been the determining factor of getting whistled for it was he didn't just hang on the rim, at the end of it he pulled himself up like on a chin-up bar and kicked his legs out. If he had just hung on the rim I believe he would have been okay.

Yes the are a special group, but why say that about Knight. He is more Clutch than any one on this years team. He proved that in the NCAA tourney last year

If Davis had not of hung he would have broke his neck. Dumbest call I have ever seen.

He didn't just hang on the rim, he also did a chin-up and kicked his legs out. If he had just hung on the rim I don't believe the ref would have called the T.
I don't agree with the call because it's called inconsistantly, but the chin-up is what resulted in the T.
#27
The T on Davis reminded me of the horrific call against Ron Mercer in 97.
Costed us that game IMO.

He did shoot us out of a few games though...

He didn't do a chin-up. He was running in full speed and dunked it. Had he let go of the rim, he would have ended up doing a backflip because his momentum would have caused him to do so. Go back and watch it again. He ended up parallel to the ground because of his momentum after the dunk. What he did was the only thing he could do to keep himself from getting injured, which is what the rule states in the NCAA rulebook about technical fouls while dunking.
