12th Region - Tim Rice - Southwestern
Coach Rice has probably one of the youngest teams in the state, as he starts 3 freshmen, 1 8th-grader, and 1 senior (the only upperclassmen on the roster). Despite the youth, Southwestern has the best record in the entire 12th Region at the moment at 14-5.

14th region Wallace Bates - Jackson City, done a great job with these girls this year. Paul Green at Owsley County has done well too.

And if she does not get it this year, she won't.

I'd have to give Mark Baldwin of Paintsville a look. Seems to be having quite a year with a relatively young team.

Coach Derrick Akal of Harlan has his girls playing at a very high level, they are in the midst of a 3-peat in the All A 13th Region. His team has a 15-6 and 4-0 in the tough 52nd District. He is an excellent individual instruction teacher and does a great job in game situations.

From the 56th I would Say Estill's McKinley and Owsley's Green.
I only see Estill losing 2 more regular season games (Letcher Central and Southwestern) making them finish the regular season at 19-9 and be right there for the District Title
Coach Green is doing a good job at Owsley County

I agree totally. This team has achieved much more already this year than a lot of people thought. Coach Rice was 12th region COY last year and deserves it again this year.

Not sure I agree with this choice. Harlan was expected to be near perfect since they were returning all 5 starters. The 52nd is slowly falling apart due to injuries. M'boro is way down this year, Bell lost their point guard for half the season due to a hand injury and they dont have a true inside presence. HC may be without one of their bigs due to a knee injury. The 52 is a very good district, but not as good as last year IMO. You cant say that because they are the 13th region All 'A' champs they are great. The other class 'A' teams in the region are waaaaay down compared to years past. I would hold my vote(if I had one) before Coach Akal got it.
I am not taking anything away from Harlan, I just dont believe their coach is the best in the region.

14th region---Coach Green at Owsley is doing a good job, but he he has a senior dominated team. PCC is doing great this year, but they have a senior dominated team. Adams at Letcher is doing a great job, but again a senior and junior team, with a lot of hold backs. But whoever would have thought that Buckhorn and Jackson City would be performing at their levels and that Leslie would be 13-6 at this point in the season after losing the kids it did last year. Congrats to all of those coaches.
13th Region--Coach Burchell at Clay
12th--Southwestern's coach

I will say that Harlan has not played up to their billing on a consistent level, but they came on late in the season last year to win the district tournament and very well could do the same this season. The season's not over yet and if they do turn it on and play up to thier potential they very well could make life tough for any team in the region. But in the mean time Coach Akal has his work cut out for him. He's going to have to earn any awards that he gets at this point. He's a great motivator and he could get these girl's up for it.

They won the 13th region all a and never beat a team with a winning record! If i am correct B-ville @ that time had the best record @ 8-12? Harlan has the best player in the region back, including all 5 starters so it was kind of a given that they would win a very week All A. Whitley"s Anderson is the best girls coach, along with Clay's coach in the 13th year in and year out.

You got to be kidding me Burchell i can see but Larry is not the reason Whitley is good you mark my words if a game comes down to him coaching in a close game he will lose every time
Dont get me wrong he has a good team but get real dude the reason that bunch is so good is because Overbey took them and played summer after summer
