Highlands vs. Trinity

birdman44 Wrote:Ok it wasnt 1945, my bad i think i said "or something " to indicate it was a long long time ago.

I have two rings from my starting days at HHS btw. my senior year we beat male who won 4A that year (1998). Trinity lost in the first or second round sooo....looks like flying by to me. Trinity was good in like late 70s for a while and sucked until Brohm came around in like 2003. I dont remember T existing while in high school in the 90s and making trips to state every year.

You should really check out the team record books one day. or should I say the Highlands century book.

in 1996, 1998, 2000, and 2009 birds were one of top ten teams in the country. eat it up HATZ

Boyle has been a top 3 team in kentucky probably like twice. They are horrible team this year and probably for a while to come.

I did, maybe you should revisit them as well. Take a look at the Boyle numbers up there as well. Check my other post for the 2000 Boyle team. Have at it. BTW, It's Hatz. Not all Caps.

*Travis Leffew, OL/DL, Louisville 4 year starter, NFL (Packers,Cowboys)
*Matt Quinn, RB/LB, Campbellsville (Other offers from bigger places but he was an academic and discipline problem. Still a great player)
*Jeff Duggins, QB/LB, Alfred State and Future Mr. Football (2001)
*Brodie Overstreet, OL/DL, Wake Forest (Injured while starting as Redshirt Frosh and career was lost)
*Matt Miller, WR, Eastern Kentucky University
*Michael Paul Webb, LB
*Jacob Tamme, WR/DB, Kentucky, NFL (Hurt in fourth game and never played the rest of the year. Imagine if he had.)
*Taylor Begley, K, Kentucky 3 year starter. Kicked 97 EP's for state record that season, and state record 17 FG's.

Finished season with 2nd most points ever scored (4 points behind '98 HHS record) in the state at that time.

As to 2009, I felt the Lone Oak game was not Boyle at it's best. I might add they were down significantly most of the game yet played well enough to still come back and win.

As to talent on their team that season, there were some outstanding players that are now heading off to make some colleges happy. One can't compare scores I now, but Boyle handled Johnson Central a lot easier than HHS did that year and they were far from a Top 5 team IMO as well.

Yeah Hatz i get all jazzed sometimes about really dumb stuff... and write like a real idiot by exaggerating. Realistically T would prob beat Highlands

i all reality boyle is one of the best teams in kentucky football history. The one true dominate county team in my opinion. Im looking forward to the next chapter of HHS vs Boyle this coming season.
They should play every year its turning into probably highlands other rivalry, I guess you can throw Lex Cath into it too. The Cov Cath / Lex Cath / Boyle / Highlands playoff dance of '12 should be worth some driving.

I think Boyle is having to rebuild too much to challenge next year.

Birds will reload.
Lex Cath will be their biggest competition.

It's all cool Birdman. It's all cool.

Anybody can say whatever they want about Boyle. I like giving Boyle fans a tough way to go myself. However, Boyle will always be one of the Top teams in Ky regardless of classification. Boyle had a down year in 2011 by their standards, but was still better than most of the teams around the state. There probably weren't 10 teams in Ky that could have beat Boyle in 2011, yet it was a down year for them. Does anyone think Boyle wasn't better than the Class A and AA champion? I also think they would have had a close game or beaten Central or Belfry. They could have likely beaten Franklin Simpson. That doesn't leave too many teams that could have beat Boyle.
