First thing you done here?
#1
I lurked for awhile....

But one day I noticed Stardust with his love for Dusty Rhodes, I thought damn this guy is a huge wrestling fan like me.

Now at the time I was a moderator of a successful wrestling forum, so Stardust actually inspired me to register...cause I wanted to let him know that I was a huge wrestling fan too.

I told him about me being a moderator and Dusty never did reply back to me...

He probably thought I was trying to recruit him over...thanks for not banning me.

LMAO!

^ Seriously??? I honestly do not recall that J-Rod. Was it a PM or in a thread? LOL, hell, i reply to every post (helps the post count Wink ) But for some reason, I honestly did not know you had messaged me. I might have missed it, if so, I honestly apologize for that.

As for your membership, and this is not to get mushy, I was so happy that you joined, because at the time, it was only LWC and I that talked grappling. Not only were you another voice, but you were a "Smart" voice, and that HAS been incredibly refreshing.

Damn, if you have moderated, you need to start way more threads in the wrestling forums than you do!!!

Awesome background

It was a PM.

I think the PM system might have been broke at the time, I'm not sure.

But yeah, just a funny story I thought I'd share that Dusty inspired me to join BGR.

Then I kinda started getting back into high school sports and whatnot, made me stick around.

LOL, You guys no me, so not only will I tell you what I first did, I will tell you "the rest of the story"...

As for me, I was suspended from the "other" site for the 3rd time because I ticked off a Mod in a previous thread for telling him he was wrong on a comment and pointing out facts that corroborated my point. I was done, so I did a google search on "Kentucky Sports forums". And honestly, it took three pages of google to find BGR. I immediately signed up (Christmas Eve 2008) and began posting my way to HATRED! I received more hate mail and threats, that I thought I was Osama Bid Laden. The fear that the EKY ONLY forum board was being infiltrated by someone interested in sports from outside of their area brought great consternation. I fought like the ASS that I can be to do all that I could to accomplish TWO purposes:

1. Help make BGR a Statewide posting board, just as BGP was. I literally created advertisements and put in NKY library's, grocery stores, emailed friends. I got on news boards for newspapers across the state, all in an effort to advertise BGR. I'm maybe the happiest person associated with this site to see how it has grown to where it is today. It is still a long ways from being completely covered by a statewide audience, but we have regular posts from not only our EKY founding members, but a considerable allotment from NKY and good membership from CKY and WKY. We just need the South to get entire statewide coverage and get more frequent posts from our WKY members.

2. I know those who run BGP, though the do not know me on here Wink It still is my goal to make BGP the BEST sports forum board in the state. We have members on this site who are Mods and Admins from BGP (yes, I know who you are Wink ), and I am proud that they come here to see what our little site is up to.

LOL, trust me, Dusty has a very busy life, so as much as everyone thinks that this is all I do, I will say that BGR was not just a fad for me. I love the friends that I have made on this site. I have felt many members personal joys and heartaches. I have enemies, and those who don't like me. Any of the guys on here that know me well enough, know that I don't mull on negativity and sprint to the next FUN topic.

Finally, I joined this site to be a MEMBER. The first time that I was approached to be a Mod, I turned it down because I said I would not change who I am and how I do it. QQ and I chatted later, and I said I would be honored, as long as I did not have to change. Unfortunately, there were no directions on how to be a Mod. Nor were there directions for those who we followed. With that, we did things the only way we thought we were supposed to. Lots of discussions on individuals and situations in the Mod panels would ultimately result in "Mall Copping".

God knows, things were done literally by the book "written BGR rules". Guys like OTH were shated by people like me, not purposefully, but because we thought that was the way things were supposed to be. Lots of things have changed, and I can proudly say that I am back to the "original" Stardust who joined this site on 12/24/08. I love this site as much today as I did that First day.

I want to thank QQ for creating this site, it has fulfilled me:biggrin:

Like Dusty, I was booted off the other site and RockSolid69 referred me here. I like it that it is somewhat regional, that is my draw. I know nothing about Bishop Brossart and schools like that, but it is good to learn a little now and then while I discuss Mountain sports.

Anyone that knows me knows that my goal is to make this THE #1 place to discuss girls basketball. I have looked over the last year and we have many threads about games and topics all over the state and state-wide that have more views on here than on BGP, concerning girls basketball. I just have to get those people to post. The rankings thread I created had 975 views but only 3 posts, REALLY? Sad

If I could create girls basketball threads that catch on like my General Discussion threads do, WOW! Aside from the Person Above you and What Song threads, they are the most consistently viewed and posted in threads of any.

I do love my wrestling and discussing it, I am versatile. I do not like boys basketball though. If God ever blesses my wife and I with children and we have a boys basketball player, I will suffer through it, lol.

To answer the original question, the first thing I did was register under the SAME username I had on the other site, posted about 150 times and decided to start fresh. Don't worry, I do not use that account now and have not since I retired it. I keep it around in case I get tired of LWC, lol.

You sure?

I don't know how I ended up here, probably to check up on Paintsville sports at the time. I only FB and BGR, as far as my interacting goes. I occasionally go to a couple of motorcycle forums, just to read, but my only posting is on BGR and FB. I like this site, and 99.99% of it's posters, including you Dusty. It is my home on the net.

Hi I'm NKY I was banned from that "site that shall not be Named" because of questioning an April Fools "joke" where some of the mods were using other names just to egg on and aggregate other members. After my banishment I wondered though the desert of the Internets until I stumbled into this oasis of fandom. It's always interesting, thought provoking, irritating sometime, irrelevant others but never dull.

Am I the only person on here that was not a member of the "site that shall not be named?"

Am I also the only person that wasn't banned from that site? :lmao:

First thing I done was make a name and immediately started talking about UK basketball.

I used to read the other site all the time back in the early 00's when you could always read it.
Seeing as to how i sure as hell wasnt going to milk a cow, i came here, and actually donated money (its amazing what creating something GOOD will do to make people wanna help).
The other site was also partial to NKY and Lville high school football which i didnt like, but there tended to be a few EKY fans on there who would always end up getting banned at one time or another.
I cant even express my gratitude and happiness that i came across this site.
Believe it or not i actually opened a account in 2005, just as it was started, made a thread and didnt even get a reply where nobody was on lol.
I cant remember what my login name was or any of that so i didnt even attempt to try to use that one, so i created a new one a couple of years ago.
I didnt really read that much before i jut jumped right in and its been a good habit to get on here ever since

Stardust, (and this goes for Vundy as well), do you remember when a certain guru created a name on here and tried to bash BGR a few years ago? I can't remember if it was before your time or not Dusty...but if it was during your time I know you would probably definitely remember lol.
#25
^ No, I was not here then. But I'm sure a lot of people thought I was the Guru...
#26
^No Dusty. Honestly I thought you were a robot.

Well I came here to make zaga_fan's life a little harder at first..
Getting on threads, posting hate on him - just giving him and others a hard time was fun..
I have matured on this site and I feel like I contribute now and have made many friends on here so that about sums it up..

I don't know the other site people are referring too.

Yep. I remember that.

Anyone else remember Ronald_Reagan? That guy was funny...and made the Political forum explode.
