Bj Combs quits at Hazard
#31
What was the deal with the "chain gang" comment??? Talking this way about high school kids is a big no-no imo.
#32
It's nobody's fault but the boys choosing not to play...

Johnson's bread and butter is baseball. He's probably already taking BP. BJ Combs and Zack Blanton will work for the city the rest of their lifes probabli. They did win a state title for the city. They will have jobs for life. No need to go to college. Spencer dont know for sure what he will do but he has plenty money. Dont know about Frazier, probably work on the chain gang for the city.

Anyway, it's not like he actually said anything bad about them. Good God. From your post you'd think he said he hoped they died or something, lol...
Saying that a kid will probably end up working for a chain gang for the city? That implies criminal character without knowing it. If someone said something like that about East Ridge, you would threaten, at least, the ban hammer. Look, I'm all for talking trash on here, I have. But not when you sully a kid's character, or attempt to. Want to say they're the worst point guard you've ever seen? Hey, that's an opinion open for public debate based on performance on the court. But talking about kid's futures like that crosses the line in my opinion.

Let me clear this up for you bunch of babies. Chain gang can mean anything. The Chain Gang is a group of kids that cut weeds for the city. They work for the most honest man in the county "Honest" Bill Morgan. No criminals. Everyone just calls them Bills Chain Gang. Bunch of of ex athletes that played for Hazard and some from Perry. Jesus Christ.
#36
Here's my 2 cents, Johnny Ringo, maybe you didn't intentionally disparage these KIDS, but that's just the point you son't seem to understand. Let me be very clear, you should NEVER post the name or any details of a MINOR child. PERIOD!!! You went way over the line on this one and coming back with that pitiful explanation, was well, pathetic. Think if one of these KIDS was your son or daughter. What would you think then???

Chain gang does not just mean "anything". It has a negative connotation, period. Perhaps if you had said "Working for Bill's chain gang cutting weeds", and followed up with what that meant, people (including me) would have been a little more forgiving. A chain gang is defined as:

chain gang
n
(Law) US a group of convicted prisoners chained together, usually while doing hard labour
Collins English Dictionary – Complete and Unabridged © HarperCollins Publishers 1991, 1994, 1998, 2000, 2003

Anyway, moving on back to the thread. Perhaps I was quick to call for your banning, but I stand by my other comments. Think before you speak (type) next time about kids.

I hope the boys become doctors and presidents

I hope they become lawyers and presidents to. But as far as Im concerned, they are nothing but a bunch of quitters. Ban me if you want. They want you to beg them to play ball up there and it makes me sick. And PHSforever you havent lived in Hazard all your life. Theres 3 or 4 holding out on Big Al every year and he has to go beg them to play. Pitiful. They will regret quitting some day. Well this just makes it easier for my Commodores to win the Region and I hope Buckhorn plays them in the finals.

Should be no coach begging any players to play. Play the ones who WANT to be there, period. I haven't lived in Hazard, but I HAVE lived in Pikeville most of my life, not too different. Ask them to come out, sell them on how it will make them better as well as help their school, but do NOT beg any players to play. If they only want to be there for the glory or ego, they won't be there for the hard times, and that's not who you want.

But anyway, like I said, perhaps I was quick calling for you to be banned. I will be man enough to take that back.

Has anyone CONFIRMED that BJ has quit yet?
Since that's what this thread is about I figured I would throw that in there.
#42
I really had high hopes for BJ when he 1st came in as a freshman. He has had alot of family and off the court problems that has killed him as a bball player. Sure hope the best for him.

I don't know if he has or not. I know he is listed on the Ky-TN Border Bowl roster to play in that game, so he may be focusing his efforts on trying to land a college football scholarship.

You have no ideal what your talking about... Bj and Jordan Olinger have played basketball their whole life's...and Al has never had to beg them. Zach Blanton quit a few years ago but that's it..... Jordan Olinger, Zach Blanton, Jordan Frazier, and Austin Johnson aren't quitter's they just didn't come out to play...

No one is begging anyone to play. Al has his team and they are going to play.

A lot of these comments are probably better suited for Topix rather than here
#47
You can sit back and say what you guys want to. BJ, Olinger and maybe a few more had to be begged and treated like a god to get them to play. I know this for a FACT. Spencer and Johnson on the other hand quit because they worked hard to get PT and lost it to the kids that had to be begged to play. This is why them two quit the team. Got no respect. And I dont know about Frazier and Zach. Probably got higher priorities I guess. Whatever.

WRONG AGAIN!

I was on the coaching staff. Spencer had issues with the coaches but had nothing to do with any players.. And no one ever had to beg Bj or Jordan to play. I know I'm right.

Johnny_Ringo Wrote:Well John you shoudl know then. You had to deal with them on a daily basis I guess. I bet you feel like a shrink by now.

Oh some days... I sure did.
