Stephen Perkins and Doug Murphy have been found to be on BGR during the regular season and post season. Are these the kind of role models we want coaching high school sports? I'm not calling them out in spite of their actions, but these type of people are the problem with high school athletics. Week after week they thrash high school kids on this site who they don't even know. Thoughts??

I was not revealing anyone. There is no difference between starting a thread about another coach and a thread about these guys. No one knows their usernames. I'm just only concerned.

I think you would be surprised the number of coaches who actually frequent these message boards. I don't believe most of them post, but you better believe there is a large number who lurk to see what is said about them or their teams.

^ That's what I heard to....

^ rumor has it that's very true

Oh no doubt if I was a high school coach I would certainly be checking out this website. Would I post? No, I wouldn't. I just think coaches shouldn't talk up their team and most definitely shouldn't talk down opponents. That is my only point.

I don't recall any Franklin Co kids being thrashed, trashed, or anything else negative about them on this site. Some coaches feels it necessary to stoke the us against the world attitude to fire their team up. If you can't find any bulletin board material you make some up on a sports forum website. I knew a coach who once sent a dozen black dried up moldy old roses to his team and signed the card from the opposing team that week just to light a fire under his kids

^Not on this site but on the "other" I knew a coach that had two ID's. One of those was as a "hater" and the other was the ID of a fan of their team. He would constantly play the two off of each other. He would tell the team, look what these people say about you, but you can also see how much I believe in you............
Worked like a charm.

Coaches being on message boards is a definite pink elephant in the room. Personally, I dont see any problem with it at all, especially if they are just discussing football?
If you dont think coaches flood the message boards, then take notice to summer, winter, fall, Christmas and Spring breaks if the number of posts don't take a drop.
If a coach is attacking another player or another coach behind a message board, then that's classless, but the same could be said for Joe Smith who works at the local insurance agency in town bashing the crosstown rival or local coach.

I agree, discussing football is absolutely fine no matter who you are. But I continue to see these two coaches(and I'm sure they aren't the only ones) contniue to talk about how great their team is and why opposing teams won't win. It just seems very unprofessional in my personal opinion.

Keep that in the locker room! Don't bash specific teams and even the PLAYERS on the opposing teams a week before the game. Maybe that's why I'm not a coach.. I just believe it doesn't show any class towards them or their program. A few people can make the entire program look bad. The kids on those teams do not deserve that.

I guess you think both teams should share juice boxes and oranges after the game also?

:lmao: funny. No, i just think its pathetic if you have to talk trash about high school kids. If your a coach...let the kids play. I don't think you understand what I'm saying? It's just sad for a coach to do that.
12-06-2011, 02:41 PM
You have to understand in many cases, the community where a coach is at gets little or no support. The only support the kids see comes from the coachs. I think that sometimes its a good thing for the kids to get on the board and see that someone has made good remarks about them or has even said that they should not loose to a team. As sad as it is, many times outside the locker room this may be the only thing positive the kid sees for his or her hard work. I see nothing wrong with a kid being made to feel like thier hard work is going unnoticed regardless of record or the level of competition the kids are facing. Everyone wants an occasional pat on the back, high school kids who bust thier butts day in and day out are no different.

Football is more than X's and O's and Jimmies and Joe's.
The motivational aspect can be very powerful. The us against the world motivation can unite a team (ask Hazard). A great coach not only knows the game but the mental aspect as well. The psychology of sports and pushing the right buttons can get teams to play at a higher level. A master of this is Coach Mueller at Highlands. If you ever listen to his TV or radio comments or comments in newspaper. He's something else

I agree with you all. Here is an example of a situation that has happened this year.
I'm not a fan of any of the teams I'm going to talk about in this example..but just saw the posts. Connor beat Franklin pretty well and Anderson had to play Connor in the regional championship. As a fan of high school football, I of couse read the Connor and Anderson thread. I saw where one of the FC coaches had the subject "Why Anderson won't win this game" I mean, c'mon, their team is out of it..but they have to bash another team? In the post, they said the kids had no heart and were not disciplined football players.
Not for or against any team, as I am an Alumni from a team not even in central Kentucky. Just noticed some of these guys putting down players on these sight week after week. Just doesn't seem very respectable coming from a coach... Hope this explains it better.

Dusty and LWC are towel boys for Trinity and nobody bothers them...

Every Coach in the State get's on this site. Head Coaches, Assistant Coaches, Administrators of schools all get on here. I know that Bourbon County has this linked to there football website. There's really nothing wrong with them getting on here, they probably do it to see if there players are getting on here

His team had just lost by a bunch and in his opinion Anderson didn't have a chance. Yet some how they won. Maybe Anderson had a little more motivation because of some of the chatting going on. You know playing with that chip on your shoulder and all that jazz

By the way doesn't this type of chatter happens in every prediction thread? Especially if that team from Ft. Thomas is playing (how soon will that running clock start I have some cake to eat)

I find it more classless to call two people out behind your own username. Just sayin.

Sounds like you are calling them out to me. There is plenty of trash talk on here with or without them. I'm not a fan of anyone revealing anyone's name. It IS against the rules of this board.

I read the Anderson Co. v. Conner thread, it was a joke. It seemed like every other post was someone exposing their own or someone else's real identity.
And I would'a got away with it too if it weren't for you meddlin' kids!
