When is this announced? Who gets it and reason why? Patrick Towles, JJ Jude look to be frontrunners. I wonder if the Gatorade award will hinder PT?

Candidates with the best chances will most likely be Towles, Wales, and Jude. Hollis from BG has a small chance. I think Towles will get it, his stats are phenominal. Winning state, being a Kentucky committ, and winning Gatorade player of the year will all help out.

The Player of the year award for Tolwes earlier this week was just a prelude to all of the trophies he puts on his mantle from this year.

I think Scooter Hollis from BG should win it. He is a 3 year starter. He lead a BG team to their 2nd state title and an undefeated season. He absolutley thrashed St.X throwing the ball and running the ball. He has a 4.0 and is a started in 3 sports! He is being looked at by a handful of ivy league schools. Thats amazing and he should win Mr. Football no doubt about it! And yes Towles is a very great athlete but you have to think about the all around person.

The all-around person???? What do you know about PT? Does 4 state titles trump two? Does a 4.0 match another 4.0? I like your suggestion for Hollis, but you make it sound like he is the only one to accomplish those feats.

Not for Mr. Football, for this award you look at what the candidate accomplished in football. It's not the student-athlete award. I think Scooter is a great football player and fantastic person and deserves to be mentioned, but his stats and popularity among writers in the state don't surpass Towles.

Unfortunately for this award, you don't. I agree though Hollis is an amazing player but the most deserving of this award has to be Towles or Wales. Mr. Football isn't like the Heisman, it is about a body of work and unfortunately few players' body of work is going to stand up to Wales or Towles. The fact that he didn't have the preseason hype of these two will also affect him. Many of the voters for this know one thing about the players they are voting for, and that's what the newspapers are saying about them.

The guy from Bowling Green doesn't have 2. He has 1. Bowling Green only has 2 titles in the history of the program. Towles gets it. He's not a 1 yr flash in the pan like the guy from BG.

What? We got a guy crowning him for 1 title when Towles himself has more titles than 85 years of BG football.

most likely Towles, with Ace Wales second even though highlands is probably just as good without him, whereas Central is not without Wales

A vote for Wales or Jude can't be discounted. They are both great players and deserving as well. They also both did it for the long haul. I think Towles will win, Wales 2nd and Jude in 3rd.

Hey wide left. Being the expert on all things football could you take a moment and let the rest of us know what athletic accomplishments you have had? Im just curious usually a person that is such an excellent evaluator of talent like yourself has a body of achievement
to draw from. 100% of the time they are a little humble makes me wonder about your credentials.

I was an old school player who started on both sides of the ball. I wasn't a candidate for Mr. Football if that's what you want to hear.

I know Towles is a heck of an athlete and qb, but Billy Abney has got to get a look. He got the speed, arm strength, and pocket awareness to play at the next level. he has a 4.0 and is great in the Garrad county community. Not only a great athlete, but a heck of a kid.

Old school what exactly is that. You were at a small school and played on the line? There was never a question in my mind you were a Mr Football candidate.I can tell by your post and they way you rip kids that you are no more than a want to be. I know who you are and did my research I just wanted you to expose yourself to the BGR community. The low blow you took at Hollis just further solidifies what an A double S you are. I would bet you have asked for alot of autographs you just seem like that kind of guy.
