Hazard 24 - Mayfield 6 (KHSAA 1A State Championshp)
#1
Final and Congrats to the Dogs for not only avenging last years defeat, but ending the states longest winning streak. Hazard completely dominated this game and did more damage to the Card D than any other team on their schedule this year.

Only 7 rushing yards for Mayfield - WOW! Only 50 total yards for the Cards in the 2nd half. Hazard forces five turnovers, converting 3 into TD's.

Good job Hazard. Now if Belfry can bring two titles to the Mountains this year would be epic!

I'd say it's gonna be a rowdy time in H-town tonight..... Hopefully that's number 1 of 2 mountain state titles this weekend.

Much love to the Hazard Bulldogs.. Congrats to a dominating State Championship game.
#12
david killed goliath so to speak............Hazard was bigger and stronger and it showed speed kills but defense wins championships and thats how this was won..................congrats hazard

Congrats Hazard! That away to show that mountain boys can play good football!
#14
Congrats Hazard on a dominating performance.
#15
Can we say OVERRATED for Mayfield. It also shows that momentum plays a big factor in games. Hazard dominated this game and held Mayfield to No TDS this game.
#16
WOW!!!! Congrats Bulldog. A lot of crow to be eaten today.
#17
WAY TO GO DAWGS!!! So much for Mayfield running away in this one!! I have to admit that I did not think that Hazard would be able to win this one but, I am very proud when I say that I am glad that I was wrong!! A great ending to a great Hazard Bulldog football team. This just goes to show that anything can happen!!

Congrats to the DAWGS!! :Wave::1::Wave:

Said it in the other thread, The East isn't dead yet. Pikeville and Fairview were deadlocked in their game. Pikeville played Hazard within a 1-2 TD range until the final minutes. And now Hazard dominates Mayfield by 3 TDs. Frankfort and LHC both were destroyed by Beechwood/Mayfield. The East stacks up a little better than what most, including myself, wanted to give it credit for. Congrats to Hazard on #1. Hopefully this only fuels the Panthers to keep pushing and this can turn in the Mayfield/Beechwood of the East.

Congrats to Mayfield on a great run and great season.

Great D played today by Hazard.

Congratulations to the Bulldogs!!

I love it when the underdog wins. That is unless my team is the favorite.

Not to take anything away from Hazards stellar D performance today but I think the Mayfield QB was a little rattled from the start. You got a kid who is expected to keep a a 29 game win streak going, who is predicted to dominate Hazard and in the shadow of his big brother. I don't think Mayfield is overrated at all, I think the QB was shaky and as the Offensive Leader of the team it spread across the offense.

Congratulations to the Hazard Bulldogs on winning their first ever state title in football by a final score of 24-6 over Mayfield. Hazard outplayed the undefeated 14-0 Mayfield team all day long. Mayfield rushed 18 times for a total of 26 yards. Hazard ran the ball a lot. 44 carries for 144 yards total. For Mayfield-Guy was 15-36 but also threw 5 costly interceptions. Great defense by the Bulldogs. Mayfield got 191 yards passing,Hazard 93. Total yardage:Hazard 237 Mayfield 217.
Just an outstanding game by the Hazard Bulldogs. My TV is already set to record WYMT's replay at 8 P.M.

Great job bulldogs!
What a turnaround from last year by hazard.

This win shows mountain football teams can still compete & win against the the so called state powers.
#25

Mayfield opens up everything running the ball and hazard stopped the run and forced mayfield to pass when there really a running team. Same was said last year about Hazard being overrated when they wasnt. Momentum changed that game last year and momentum and defense this year. Mayfield only gives up 6 points game and give up 24 to hazard and hazard had 1 td called back. Hazard give a few big plays up but never broke and never folded.

Well, I guess they were right about the playoff games not being close but, they weren't right in this one as far as which team would win! I bet all the Mayfield nation still have to be in shock after this one!! :yikes:
