I just want to point out the fact that nky teams have been dominating the playoffs the past recent years... I am going to say that excluding trinitys play... NKY football is now at the level of Louisville football if not higher.. Look at This year alone. Nky fields 4 teams in the semis and was almost 5 Conner only lost by 1. & if those 4 teams hold strong 4 classes out of 6 would field a nky team. And I will say now beechwood, holy cross, highlands & Boone will play in there state championships this year....

Of the 3 counties that make up NKY (Boone, Kenton, Campbell), each county has atleast 1 team playing in the state semis. Kenton has 2, and NewCath and CovCath are not one of the 4 teams left.
Greater Cincinnati is a recruiting hotbed. The Big 10, MAC, and Notre Dame have recruited Cincinnati like they've owned the city, but recently you're seeing more SEC, Big 12, Big East outside of UC and UL, and ACC schools hitting this area harder, and more NKY recruits are getting D1 offers. Even Holy Cross has sent their last 3 QBs to play D1 football.

^ Honestly, Chris Collinsworth has done his job in calling out NKY football on the national scene and colleges have taken notice. He was quoted once in saying that colleges who spend half their season in Cincinnati recruiting are missing some of the best players in the country right across the river. Now we are seeing recruiting at the doorsteps that once were not seen.

Give me 4 teams to watch in Bowling Green and I will be there the whole weekend. I think the post by all so far on this thread are a great sighn for all NKY school. I know plenty of schools followers who's teams will not be in the state championship game that will be there with me to watch everyone play. NKY supports football not just their team.

I like some of the football out there in WKY too. But my thing is that WKY is spread out in distance that it loses that neighborhood/ city feel that NKY has because the schools are so close too each other.

Perry, Pike, Powell, Rockcastle, Whitley, Owsley, Lee, Leslie, Letcher, Wolfe, Harlan, Johnson, Knott, Knox, Martin, Breathitt, Floyd and Bell County COMBINED do not equal that amount. (371,139 compared to 380,000)
Some of those counties did not even have 8,000 people.

OK, make up an all-star team from ALL the counties you mentioned and then pick an all-star team from one NKY county(Boone,Kenton,orCampbell). Competition breeds sucess, always has always will.

In the three NoKY counties there are 20
Boone 4
Campbell 7
Kenton 9

When is the last time one of the MTN. Co. schools you brought up won a state title? Then take Bell out of the equation. Its not even close. Nobodys fault just how it is. I'm saying if you don't take a long ass bus ride, your not playing that good of a team.

Exactly! With a higher population that provides for a bigger talent pool. So going by LWC's example. Those three counties have a higher population than all of the Mountain County's and only half the amount of schools with a football team!

Give me a county with 100,000 people within a 30 minute drive of a major city like Cincinnati and 4 public high schools and a private/city school and I can field a great team. I guarantee you that if a coach like Tom Larkey, Dudley Hilton or Phillip Haywood those stats and that opportunity they would seize it as well.
I am not downplaying Dale or anyone else's accomplishments, just saying that the argument of "we are only 3 counties and we are much better than the other 20 mountain counties" is stale and vanity.

about the whole city vs county schools argument. I can feel for both sides.

Yeah we have more people. but we have more teams.
I dont think that it is impossible for mountain teams to win state, they have in the past.
I do think that it is easier for city kids to make the year-round 24/7 commitment to football.
County schools do have a disadvantage, but what is the solution?
