Powell shouldn't have been the four seed though. I heard that they slacked off a little bit against Western Hills so they'd get Lewis in the first round and be on the opposite side of the bracket from Garrard.

Well, there going to get a big 'ol taste of what they were asking for next week @ Garrard

This is absurd. Turnovers is the reason Powell lost to Western Hills. Coach Burchett would NEVER purposely lose a game to match up with an opponent. He has much more class and respect for the game than that. So whatever you heard, was complete ignorance.

Was Hopkins hurt? How much did he play?
#19
Hopkins played the whole game and as for us slacking off in the western hills game..HaHaHaHa. that is a complete joke. We turned the ball over four times and they recovered 3 kicks. much like we did against Lewis. Plus the WH game had some very absurd calls. The kids stoped playing as a team the last 3 or 4 games. they seem to have figured it out and are playing some good team ball. Congratz Pirates !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Congrats Coach Burchett & Pirates. Good luck next week. Should be a good game.
#21
Hopkins reinjured his foot and QB Stout suffered a hip pointer in last weeks game against Fleming they both played you could tell they were hurt and by no means am I taking anything away from Powell they came to play and played well and won the game, Good Job & Good Luck Powell in the Region Finals...
#22
It's kinda funny how he is always hurt when he plays us. He runs for 279 or so the previous week and 40 Friday against the Pirates. The first time we played them he ran for about 75 and again, the previous game he rushed for 207 or so. Powell just has that kids number this year. You stop him and you win the game. The problem was the Pirates just gang tackled him.

Hopkins got hurt in the 3rd qrtr of the Fleming Co game & so did the qb and yes he was hurt the 1st time Bourbon played Powell but the qb wasnt and its funny for you to say if you stop Hopkins you win the game Powell stopped him the 1st time they played by what I heard and still lost the game, Powell caught Bourbon on the right nite and like I said earlier I take nothin away from Powell they played well and won the game, CONGRATS to Powell & I hope they continue to WIN....

No quality Coach would purposely lose a game. I doubt this was the case with Powell County.
#25
That was a nice win for Powell.
I think they are going to have a very, very hard game this coming week.
Good luck I hope you guys can continue your winning ways.

I'm just saying what someone told me. He talked to some Powell players and an assistant coach that told him this. Whether Coach Burchety knows about it or not, or if it's even true, that's just what I was told.

Where to begin.......
1st Congrats Powell on a hard fought win.
Now to Blitz....Stopping Hopkins was not the key to Powell's victory. We had another young(freshman) running back #20 come in and pretty much was having his way with the d. So it wasn't the stoppage of running backs. The critical points that made the difference was 14 points off of interceptions. You take that away and it is a whole different story. Unfortunately, Bourbon was beat by a decent group of young men. They really need to work on their sportsmanship after though and if you stayed after the game you know what I am talking about.
Anyway, again Congrats to Powell and the best of luck against Garrad next week.

I really don't believe they purposely lost. That is extremely out of the realm of belief. I would have to say if you look at the stats the turnover ratio is the major factor, 4 turnovers with 3 lost.

You don't have to be very smart to figure out that Hopkins was hurt, its a playoff game and he carries it 10-12 times. Powell played hard and got the win. If Hopkins is healthy he carries it 30 times and gains 250 and 3 tds. Powell's offense is there best D.

After the game, Bourbon county police told Powell fans they could not walk onto field to join Powell players in after game huddle. But all Bourbon county fans were allowed on field. Powell had to move to track at endzone so fans could join huddle. At the Bourbon@Powell game, Powell's senior night game, Powell asked Bourbon players and fans to move to side of field after game so Powell senior players could do traditional "last walk". Powell had to ask 3-4 times and Bourbon Co still took 10 minutes to move-- a blatant show of disrespect to our players.
