This is going to be one collision of a game. I wouldn't care to pick a winner either way. It's that close. But I sure would like to see this one.

PHSForever Wrote:If you're just factoring in last 3 games, yes, nice ppg average that is greatly inflated by the 77 points put up in one game. Raceland has a good team, fans were great, loved the atmosphere of the first game with Pikeville. BUT, looking over the last 5 games of the season (typically when teams really start to gel offensively) give a better look at consistency. Pikeville is averaging 54 ppg over that stretch versus Raceland's 42 ppg.
As I understand it from a friend who went to the Raceland game Friday, they've tweaked their offense a little bit to be a little more run-first than it was earlier in the season. Since Raceland and PHS played, PHS has really developed their offensive depth, now having at least 4 players who can take over a game on their own, along with 2-3 who are capable of breaking out in situational packages.
Having said all of that, I'm looking forward to a really exciting game this Friday between two very evenly matched teams who are similar in personnel. But I think in the end, Pikeville's experience and leadership, along with a defense that is improving weekly, will be the decisive factor. PHS rolls on with a 45-32 win, IMO.
Pikeville's last 5 were- South Floyd 3-7, Phelps 4-7, Allen central 6-5, Shelby valley (2A) 5-6, Paintsville 2-9... thats a combined team average of 20-34.
Raceland's last 5 were- Nicholas Co 7-4, Fairview 11-0, Paintsville 2-9, Russell (3A) 7-4 and then South Floyd 3-7. with a grand total of 30-24. So who has played the toughest last 5 games? I think the Rams will surprise you guys when we get there. I do believe that the game is going to be a great game and prolly the best game so far this year,,, Good luck and hope we all play without injuries.

Just saying Ram-Fan, you really won't believe it's the same Pikeville team you saw last time...last post on this thread.hh:

^^^ Are we really comparing regular season wins!? As any football common sense person knows. its not what u do in reg. season its how u finish in the playoffs. anyway should b a good game.

Should be a dandy of a game.

I still see 38 -21 Pikeville. This Panther defense improves each week & continues to buy into Coach Thacker's schemes. On the offensive side of the ball it's which side of the sword would you like? The Randy Maynard side or the Chase hall/Cody Estep/Gavin Miller side? If Morrison, Campoy, Belcher, Mcpeek, & Robinson put on their big boy pants like they have the last few weeks Raceland might not get the old calf they got early in the season, they might just get the young bull!!! Hail Pikeville!

Pikeville not only beats Raceland friday but Fairview the week after that. I see this team getting hot, and making a splash in the playoffs. I'll keep my fingers crossed that they'll have to add 2011 to the scoreboard at Hillard Howard Field.

Everyone should be back. strengths have changed and kids have grown. This is going to be a great game no matter the outcome. I have a feeling that the RAMS pull this one off by 14. Just a hunch.Rams will get ready for basketball season after they get beat at Pikeville again and that long bus ride home will stick with them for a short while, this is as far as this team can go, just like all the other Ram teams of past seasons, they still can't win the big game, they do make the playoffs but can't advance very far in playoffs, good season but no cigar, again, lol.

Wow!! I love people like you, spouting off about Raceland and their playoff record when your patheitc program can't even win a game. I know, you guys won a state title in the 70's, who gives a crap. The only thing Greenup has going for it is the pee wee system. The continuity of the varsity program is nonexistent.

Are Ram fans already camping out here in Pikeville? I saw 3 in Wendy's Monday night. This is going to be a great game, really looking forward to this one!

This should be a dandy. The last game was in the heat. Imo I don't think we should have played in. Both teams suffered in that one. Don't think we seen either team perform up to what they could have with normal temps.
The common opponents were Paintsville and South Floyd. With Pikeville winning by a average margin of 40.5ppg. And Raceland winning by a average of 48.0pg. Shoud be a high scoring game. And whoever wins the turnover battle winning the game. I bet we don't have kids cramping up from the heat this game! Win or lose this will be a great game to watch and be a part of. Wouldn't be surprised to see 70+ points on the board at the end of the game.

Agreed. Should be a nail-biter, just like the first one, only without all the cramping, as you said. Looking forward to watching two high quality teams play some high quality, playoff football!! Be safe in your travels, Ram fans!

Wow! The Raceland fans have to take on the Pikeville fans and the Russell fans. A lot of hard feelings from some on this thread. It's good that most Panther fans and Ram fans are civil though. I'll read on.

Yeah, the Russell fans don't have anything better to do....they sure aren't going to put that much effort into talking that kind of trash about their upcoming game this Friday night when they run straight into the Garrard County football machine...

As a Russell fan I think the Ams win this one.

You and russellpride continue to pop off at the mouth!! Facts are facts, you can't buy tradition, it's earned through blood, sweat and tears!! I'm over the fact that Fairview has to go to West Virginia to complete it's roster, some teams will do whatever it takes to get a leg up on their competition, hell Raceland has several kids from Russell, but those kids showed up in junior high not when they were seniors. The thing that really burns me up is the thug attitude that this program and it's fans have taken on. What I witnessed before the game this year disgusted me!! It wasn't the hand holding and the singing of Kumbaya or whatever it was, it was the fact that they started pointing at and talking trash to the students who where gathered at the tunnel waiting on their team to come out. I've watched and played a lot of football in my time and never witnessed another team do something so disrespectful, of course that ranks up there with the trash flowing out of their mouth last year at LCA and I honetly don't see how fans can sit back and find that to be sportsmanship. While the talent of Fairview's program has jumped ten fold since Musick came on board and ran Chad Tackett out of the town, the class has went to the gutter and that's what disgusts me the most!!!

I guess the video the Ram Angels made about Turner had no bearing on the actions by the Eagles. You need to get the complete truth before you start motoring your gums...Tradition has to start some where, so please quit hating.
I really hope Raceland wins!

First of all, I saw the video and I condemned it, I went as far as saying Reed should have been kicked off the team. Second thing, this is America and I can motor my gums all I want, get over it!! Third, the thug mentality at Fairview started long before that video came out!! Earning tradition and buying tradition are two different things!!

Every school in the Region has recruited at some point. I am sure Raceland would have taken any of those players. As for the Thug mentality...kids are kids...you were probably labeld worse than a thug when you were in school.

So now you're implying that you know me, and the kind of kid I was in school, whatever. The coaches I played for wouldn't have stood for those types of antics and would have promptly dismissed me from the team. As far as recruiting goes, read my first reply, I said it happens everywhere, even at Raceland. Kids being kids, that's one thing, kids being disrespectful is another, obviously your ok with that, anything for a win. I for one would hope that Raceland would turn kids like that away from their program. I'm finished...
