Well jeepman that was a old fashion ass kickin I think we can take from the evils every year. This game is a turning point for the evils just like you said. But I doubt you like the turn it just took.
Fball looks like little brother kicked the evils back up the hill. Now where is that smell coming from? Maybe next year. hehehehehe!! Right!
I'm done now.
Now this is all over. I want to see the DEVILS go along way in the playoffs! Good luck! Make a great showing for our community.
The devils did play hard. But the coaching staff of Raceland has that offense and defense down to a T..

The Russell team looked really tired the second half. good luck in the play offs! Fball, you forgot your doggie bag of ram dung! We showed tonight you don't need the corners of the end zone!

Now we will see if the Rams can beat the Eagles at the nest in a couple weeks, that is as far as the Rams may get this season :hilarious:

How far you think the muskies will make it?
We hope we get the second chance to play the eagles. Very very good and hard hitting team. Unlike a team down river.

Congrats to Raceland. Russell got out played and out coached.

Good game. Special teams really was the difference. Two on side kicks recovered by Raceland and maybe the strangest punt return for a TD you will ever see after a high snap to the punter in the end zone.
Great game from Colton Griffith. Recovering both on side kicks and catching a pass on a fake punt for a first down when Raceland was backed up inside their own twenty. Congratulations Colton. You deserve it. Biggest heart on the field.
Both teams moved the ball well at times and sputtered at times. Zach Thompson, Logan Dehoff and Paul Spradlin all had good games on offense. Each with more than 70 yards rushing, Thompson had well over a hundred.
Both teams had big defensive stops. Russell with the goal line stand in the first half and Raceland with the big stop inside the 20 in the second half.
It was a game of big plays and Raceland had more of them. Still not sure how that last TD to Nethercutt got though to him. I'm not sure he knows how it ended up in his hands but it did. Raceland abused Russell passing down the middle of the field. Ive got to question where the Russell safeties were.
Congratulations little brother. That's 4 in a row.

Rams that big up front that wore them down?

That patio carpet is dangerous. You may have caught couple of those two point conversions if you had actual corner in the end zones.
I think I brought that stuff home on my boots. It was muddy out there.
I don't think they looked really tired. They looked like a team that gets confused. Raceland may be young but they play more like a veteran team than Russell does. Reed and Caudill the seniors played big tonight. Caudill on defense and Reed on both sides of the ball. Russell better learn to defend the post pattern and that little pick play back to the middle. Safeties got caught out of position a few times.

Nope spread them out and ran them all over the place. With the onside kicks the Ams pulled off the Russell defense was on the field a lot.

Congratulations to the Rams.
Fball has covered most of the problems that Russell had last night. I think I will just add some things that I noted. Personal fouls must stop. If my memory serves me right we have had at least one in every game this year. I also think we have been out coached on defense, and special teams. How we could possible have two onside kicks recovered by the other team when we know they are going to kick the ball out of bounds is beyond me. I just don't get it. I'm not sure why Dehoff is not playing safety. He was the only Russell back that could outrun the Rams defense. Clock management is none existant. It just cannot understand why with 2 minutes left in the first half and we are at the 50 yard line and we can only manage to get 4 plays off. Honestly it appeared that we were running the clock out. That is something that can be fixed in 30 minutes.

Another game that I missed. Congrats to the Rams.
10-29-2011, 10:28 AM
They went into a huddle with 8 minutes left down two scores running trap after trap, they ran the clock out on themselves! With the young Ram DB's the passed work deep and they went deep only a couple times all night. Also, Russell was sucking wind really hard the second half; they looked much more tired than the Rams! If Russell doesn't put their best players on special teams it's going to be a short post season! Good luck in the post season.

Special teams killed them! They always run the clock like that. No sense of urgency. I didn't think they looked that winded. More dejected. Especially after that last TD to Nethercutt went right through the Russell defenders hands.
10-29-2011, 12:00 PM
The key to this game was HEART, Raceland had it and Russell DID NOT. Russell needs to find some and in a hurry or they will be practicing basketball earlier than they were expecting. It's that simple. Congrats to the RAMS and good luck in the playoffs.

I agree they always run the clock like that. They need to change so that they can at least give themselves the opportunity to win in a close game. That can only be done at the coaches level and passed down to the players. Right before the half they ran 30 seconds off the clock and then called a time out. COME ON MAN.

Good Win Raceland as they needed that win for tough challenge when they play Pikeville again possibly. Russell needed a loss to a rival to get them prepared for a playoff run as Russell is always a tough out for anyone in the playoffs.

They took a time out middle of 3rd q. and half of the team was bent over grabbing theirs knees two was on their knees on all four! The game I saw showed out of shape linemen, that's on the coaches. I don't mean to sound mean towards the kids, but it showed on Nethercutts catch for a TD also, they didn't even jump after it. The one kid just laid there and watch him run it in without even going after him.

Russell was just out coached, out coached, out coached, :flush: and it started about this time last year, take off your maroon colored glasses and don't be afraid to call it like it is. A 1a school gets lucky every now and then against a bigger school, but four, did I say four years in a row, PLEASE. It looked like to me that the past Russell players that transfered had more heart, and kudos to #32 Coltan on the hustle of the onside kicks.
For the like of me, when a team lines up for an onside kick, why would you not make an adjustment. Not only once but every kick off ??????????
The one pass worked to Dehoff, which would have opened the run game, but never went back to it again ??????? I beleive in the 2nd qtr when Raceland drove it down the field and most was just up the gut, the wind got knocked out of the Devils and they never got the second wind back. Again lack luster playing, and terrible tackling, and no second effort, the play calling was as usaul??????? But it is IVANs team.
Russell better get ready cause if they could not handle Racelands spread, This Oak team coming to the HANK is gonna have a hay day.

They always look like that we're used to seeing. Seriously our JFL teams do more conditioning than they do. I thought Davidson looked gases but he played as hard as I've ever seen him on defense.

old warrior, go lay down and hide like you and the muskie fan base has all year! Back in the 70's they did win a at large state tournment, a little different than today's playoff system. Good job 1970's team, you had a great team, and at that time a pretty good school! It all SUCKS now!:hilarious:

We are just all arm chair coaches. The on-side kick thing amazed me. The play calling even when we win is so predictable. Ivan is one of the best coaches in this state and we are so fortunate to have him. He has won two state championships and numerous times to the big show. We can question what we think as fans as questionable, but I'm sure he has a very good reason why he coaches like he does. I'll put my chances with Ivan. Not only is he a Hall of fame coach, he is also a hall of fame mentor to our kids.

It's easy to set back after a loss and say. Why didn't we do this or that. Maybe they ran the ball so much because they can't throw. I don't know. I'm sure Mr. coach McGlone uses players to the strengths for the team. He may would like one player in one position. But can't because it would make the overall defense or offense weaker. I wouldn't ever question his coaching skills. Anyone can see from the JFL all the way thru 12th. Coach doesn't have the talent he used to have. The coach can teach them how to tackle, run, catch and everything that goes with the game of football. But if the talent level isn't there. Your not going to win them all. WHO DOES?? Even the great coaches at Bell Co, Boyle Co, Trinity ect.. go through seasons when they don't win as much as they normally do. It ain't the coaching. It's talent in devil land!

Haven't heard that one before! lol
What decade was that? Vietnam war era wasn't it?
That was a great team. BUT!! Then is then. And now is now!
How many playoff games have you won in the last decade?
How many winning seasons have you had in the last decade?
How many winning seasons have you had sense you run TJ Maynard off?
If we go back to the Vietnam era. I'd say most on here wern't even born.
When the state took over the school system. Someone should have taken over the football as well!
I'd rather be a devil, tomcat, eagle, lion or anything the past twenty years then a musketeer.
SAD down that way. Some huge county schools have great programs. Your baseball, cheerleading and sometimes basketball is great. But for some reason the county is to big for football!
