Looks right on our side. I'm not sure how that Mercer, Marion , Taylor finished, but I'll trust you on it.

So Knox finished 3rd in district?
#4
So Knox finished 3rd in their district?
#5
^Yes.

How would the 2nd round match-ups work? Just for simplicity, let's assume the higher seeds win.

Round 1

Clay Co @ Lex Cath
vs
Mercer Co @ Russell Co

Marion Co @ Rockcastle
vs
Knox Central @ Boyle Co

Round 2
The higher seeded winner hosts. So if LC and Russell Co win, then Russel Co goes to LC. If Clay Co upsets LC and Russel Co wins, then Clay Co will go to Russell Co. If two same seeded teams face off, then since 2011 is an odd year, the team from the odd district (D5) will host the game.

Yes, they finish third using the 3-way tie breaker point system.

^Let's say all home teams win, would Lex Cath play Boyle and Russell County play Rock? Help me here, let's say those four teams win.

No, If all home teams win in RD1, then Russell will go to Lex Cath, Boyle will go to Rock, then if Home teams win again, Rock will go to Lex Cath for the Championship.

I'd give anything to see Rock upset Boyle and Russell upset Lex Cath. That would give us the Russell @ Rock rematch......I wouldn't want to be Rock the 2nd time around. :redboxer::redboxer::redboxer::redboxer::redboxer::redboxer:

^Okay, that sounds good. Too bad Rock wins........again Big Grin

does it really matter when a team like highlands is in your class

whitley78 Wrote:does it really matter when a team like highlands is in your class

Of course it does, unless you have a quit'r attitude. I can't imagine why you wouldn't want to have the chance to get the championship game. I would care if it was to face the Packers.

Highlands isn't any different than the rest of the teams out there other than the fact that they've been cycled through a better program with a winning attitude.
#13
That Knox and Boyle County game is going to be big.
#14
^To me, that is the BEST 1st round game in any class in the playoffs.

Here is the Eastern half of the 4A bracket. This is assuming that CovCath beats Homes today.[Image: http://www.bluegrassrivals.com/forum/pic...tureid=356]

Lex Cath over Clay Co.
Russell Co. over Mercer

Rockcastle over Marion
Knox Central over Boyle

Lex Cath over Rock

Mercer is getting better but I still think Russell beats them. Gotta go with Boyle and Lex Cath and Rock in the other three.

Mercer @ Russell Co
Mercer had some bad games early on, but they are dangerous. The Lakers don't need to look ahead. We have a game against neighboring Adair Co that I wouldn't even bother planning for. I'd start coaching for the Mercer game now. This is the first hosted playoff game we've had that I'm aware of.

Marion @ Rock
Rock should move on with no problem. Their defense is setup perfect to match up against the Marion running game.

Clay @ LexCath
LexCath

Knox @ Boyle
This could be the best 1st round game since the expanded playoffs. Boyle's offense is not as good as can typically be expected from Boyle, and the Panthers have the ability to keep the score down. Boyle's defense has been good and improved throughout the year, but KC may have more offensive weapons than Boyle has seen since their first game of the year. I also don't expect the Boyle home field to be that big of deal, because the Panthers will feed off of the atmosphere. This may be the biggest opportunity for an upset in the games between these two districts. Even if Boyle does win, then they will have a road date with another tough match up the next week......the path for Boyle will not be easy.

Dang with Johnson gettin Highlands in the second round, Matney better let jude get A LOT of carries against holmes in order to break the record. I dont see him gettin many against Belfry or Highlands. Even if he does get it, It looks like Wales is a lock for passing him up in the playoffs.

Most see Lexington Catholic coming out of this bracket?
#21
I would like to see Rock and Knox play again then Rock vs Russell in semi
#22
rustyankle Wrote:Most see Lexington Catholic coming out of this bracket?

Understandably so, but they'll have to make it through some good teams. IF the Lakers get past Mercer, we have 18 INTs on the year (by 9 different players), and Bolin has been prone to throw a few. So, even though we'd be a huge underdog, I like our chances. But Mercer may prove to be a tough test.
#23
Lexington Catholic will win the region championship over Boyle.
I would be really shocked if this is not the outcome. I really don't see the Boyle-Knox game being that good honestly. I have seen both teams and Boyle is head and shoulders above Knox IMO

I hope both staffs, and the players feel the same way.

Nothing wrong with confidence just as long as it doesn't become arrogance

The East bracket is loaded compared to the West. The Championship game will be a blow out.
#27
Some of you Lex Cath fans are forgetting that you barely beat Bell in a game that they really should have beaten you all.
You all did beat Boyle.
This Knox team could have done the same as you all did against Bell if they play to there potential. I think it could be a great game.

Im sure we will know more after Whitley plays Boyle Friday. Knox is better than Whitley and if Whitley competes then id be worried if i was Boyle.
#28
So let me get this right we should bypass the playoffs and let Lexington catholic and Highlands play in championship?? Atleast that's the vibe I getting from some posts
#29
i think Bowling Green will show us how good LexCath is.
#30
I believe knox could pull it off what do you think???
