First they got out of the 16th region because of the level of competition. Now they are getting out of the 57th because of the level of competition. Can someone give us some info on what is going on at LC? I also would love to know how they can justify coming to the 59th district.

When will this take place? Also, it would have to be for all sports correct, other then football that is.
10-21-2011, 01:22 PM
Do you know this to be true? I for one don't want to be in the 59th. Nothing
Against the teams bur the travel will be bad. East Ridge and Lawrence are at complete opposite ends of the region.

I have no idea when this is taking place. They will vote on it but I was told the powers in LC want this move. This would move ER to the 60th. LC shouldn't even be in the 15th. It is just for basketball, baseball, and softball.

LC tried to get in the 6oth district the powers in Phelps stopped that.

Is this official?

So after these moves, the 60th district would be up to 4 teams, the 57th would be down to 4, and the 59th would still be at 3 teams?
Weird...

ER-SV-Pikeville are within 30 minuets of each other, you tell me what moron decided to change this probably financial burden among the schools?
10-24-2011, 10:55 PM
Is this really true? This is the only place I have heard anything about it
10-24-2011, 11:25 PM
Not heard this until now.

Believe that redistricting will take place next year and not just this district.
10-25-2011, 09:12 AM
This is the rumor going around. Look for a few teams to switch districts as well as regions, no more 3 team districts.

When and why did this happen? It makes no sense geographically. I thought the 59th consisted mainly of Pike County teams.

^ I think it is gonna be a BIG switch up when they do it. Been loooong over due!

Why doesn't LC just go back to the 16th? It just makes more sense.

Real Badman Wrote:ER-SV-Pikeville are within 30 minuets of each other, you tell me what moron decided to change this probably financial burden among the schools? No kidding, Pikeville, Lawrence County, and Shelby Valley will both have to make 1+ hours trips for DISTRICT games in basketball, softball, and baseball. While they pass literally every other school besides ER on the way there. East Ridge will now have to travel around an hour for all of their district games besides Pike Central.

For real man.

How could you say this is long over due? It makes no sense. LC shouldn't even be in the 15th region. This is in place unless someone from Pike County decides to take up for our schools. You know how politics are, you scratch my back and I yours. By the way it has nothing to do with the KHSAA wanting to realign district. The only thing it has to do with is LC cannot compete in all three sports in their district anymore.

They can't... we NEED them!
Even with them, there are still only 15 teams in the 15th region. The ideal situation would be to have four 4-team districts. So if anything, we need to ADD another team, not SUBTRACT one.

So why can't they stay in the 57th?

I agree with you, they should stay in the 57th. Of all the teams in that district, they are the furthest away from the teams in the other districts. They would certainly NOT be the first team I would move out of the 57th. Sheldon Clark to the 60th makes the most sense, or if not then move Magoffin to the 58th and Betsy Layne to one of the Pike Co. districts.
And if they really want to get wild and crazy, let's get another team from a neighboring region (Jenkins? Morgan Co.?), get up to 16 teams, and have four 4-team districts.

Great minds think alike apparently haha.
Consolidation sucks.

Yeah, apparently so.
The thing about it is, in order to get all the EKY regions with 16 teams, you would have to completely overhaul several regions to get there. If you pull Jenkins and/or Letcher, then you have to move somebody from the 13th into the 14th to get them back to 16, and so on. It's a big mess, really.

I think LC would LOVE to go back to the 64th, but the 64th doesn't want that to happen... just like the 57th doesn't want LC to stay and the 60th doesn't want LC to come there. :HitWall:
LC belongs in the 64th with Ashland, Boyd and Fairview period. Putting LC in the 60th would be foolish... It would literally take LC over 2 hours just to make it to Phelps to play...

Sheldon Clark will not lbe leaving the 57th. Put Lawrence County back in the 16th where they belong.:please:

Lawrence County or in earlier years Louisa HS and Blaine HS were in the 15th region from the 1930's till 1981 when they went to the 16th. LCHS went to the region their last two years in the 64th in basketball and won 25 games or so the last yr in the 16th region. They have more natural rivals in the 15th in Paintsville, Prestonsburg, Sheldon Clark, as these games have always been a big deal to the community. They were down last yr but, willl bounce back in basketball and there's no way one can say the Bulldogs aren't competitive in Baseball. They have also dominated the 15th in tennis and went to the region this year in girls soccer. The 15th region and the 57th district seems to be a better fit for LCHS because of the rivalries built up from the 1930's till now.
