1. Barbourville
2. Knox Central
3. Pineville
4. Lynn Camp
I think that Barbourville will win the district this year and have a shot at the regional title.

I think Barbourville will contend, but I don't know if they will win the district just yet. They could and this may be their best year. They definitely have a good coach. I agree that it will be either Knox or B'ville. I will still go with Knox until B'ville proves otherwise. Pineville and Lynn Camp will battle for the #3 slot - edge goes to Pineville at this point, but both teams will be weak.

I heard Dinky was coaching baseball at Bville this year? Anything to what I heard?

I've heard the same rumors but who knows till around February, but I think this year Barbourville with only losing 4 seniors (2 of which played), will catch Central in it's down year and beat them IMO. Hillard is a excellent coach and will work KC's rear off every practice to beat Barbourville. I still think this is Barbourville's only year to win district in the next 4 to 5 years. Also Pineville will surprise more people than you think. They are a major sleeper. GOOD LUCK TO ALL TEAMS IN THE 51st DISTRICT:Thumbs::Thumbs:

It might be hard saying it but this year's version of the tigers can "Compete" for a region title but as you said, contending, yeah that is too much. But they are not to be overlooked

Who does Barbourville have that can beat knox central? Hillard will have his young team ready to compete when the time comes. Barbourville will not outwork knox central in the offseason which is why they never can seem to get past kc. Barbourville's team will compete with some teams, but I dont see them getting past first round of region. They havent proven anything yet. Unless the districts are changed sometime I see KC as being the top team every year. BTW who is Barbourville's new coach?
10-03-2011, 08:30 PM
To rank Barbourville 1 in the district is absurd. Knox central has never been beaten by a barbourville team since the districts have been redone. The only pitcher this barbourville squad has faced was Justin King. Central will have plenty of other arms this year.

King is a hell of a pitcher for anyone to face. Hillard IMO is one of the best coaches in the region that will have Kc prepared for anything. But think, how many of Barbourville's players play basketball compared to Kc's players? Barbourville only lost 7-9 last year in the District Championship. Not every game but some, since the districts have been redone, Barbourville has given Kc a run for their money.
09 Championship 1-3
11 Championship 7-9
Then other games have been competitive but Kc blew them out.
Every year Kc has a pitcher that only wants one thing and that is to shut Barbourville down, nothing else. I rank Kc at No. 1 in the district for the fact of the past but it might change this year, you never know.
Btw, when was the last time a Kc team, that is talented every year, made past the first round or region??? Just a quick thought.

4-2 was the score and Barbourville beat the same team 2 out of 3 times that year. I'm not hating against Kc, I have the out most respect for them, but look at all the talent they've had in the past years and look at their results. They should be competing for region every year but instead only have one thing one their mind, and that is to beat Barbourville during the season and during District.

Hillard is the 4th coach in 6 years in the program. Kinda hard to build a tradition past district with that resume. I believe if he keeps his heart there and puts the time and effort into it (and I beleive he will) then good things will come to KC besides District Championships.

I for one dont believe knox central will out work barbourville in the off-season and in the district championship barbourville was down by 9-1 and come back and scored all those runs off king, king is a really good pitcher but that just shows that barbourville can hit off anybody in the region and can score, barbourville has strong pitching this year lead by jeffery banfield who could possibly be one of the best pitchers in the region.

IMO Barbourville could contend for a district but I highly doubt that they will even make it past the first round of region.

Not all of those comeback runs were off King. KC made some errors late in the game, thus making them unearned runs.

Barbourville made some errors earlier in the game, so if you take away both teams unearned runs it was probably a 1 or 2 run game still.

Bottom line is Barbourville IMO will be ready to take the District Title this year no matter what Central brings to the table.. Don't get me wrong, Hillard is a great coach with many accomplishments under his belt but this is a down year for him and mark it down that he will not overcome. Barbourville has had many people against them over the years but this will be the year they come through and show all of the non-believers up. They will get their coaching situation figured out and will come out with intensity each and every game. It will be Barbourville vs. Knox Central in the championship game as usual. They will throw Banfield as usual and he will have the defense behind him with a solid infield and outfield to back him up. Not to mention the Tye coming back as their catcher who has learned many things about the game over the years. They have a veteran team and Banfield will lead them to a District Championship this year. You take those runs that were unearned from the last Championship game and Barbourville wins 2-1. Don't believe me? Find the stats somewhere because they're there to back me up. Barbourville will be on TOP this year!

There's "veterans" on the tigers squad who can't field a ball and throw to first base more than 30% of the time. If you have no basis for your statement other than "veterans" being on the team then your statement has no validity. If I recall, Knox central beat your "veteran" team last year. Central has seen and defeated Banfield more times that I can recall. Try throwing Hildebrand or someone else. Maybe your luck will improve. Still doubtful. Prove you can beat Knox central and maybe your statements can hold up on BGR. Until then, might want to work a little harder and be a little more modest.

Tell me this, who does Central have to pitch against Barbourville?? King is gone and besides, Barbourville almost beat Central with King pitching! Maybe your statements should hold up. Even with that said, I still rank Central 1st in the district because I don't know when the last time a Barbourville team has beaten a KC team. So without the doubt, they are still ranked 1st. I wouldn't be surprised though if that changes for this year only.

I'll go with Barbourville this year. I think they'll be a lot better than what people are giving them credit before.
Knox is DEFINITELY no slouch though. With Hillard anything can happen.

Kind pitched against Barbourville 6 times in his last 3 years, surely to goodness Barbourville would have a book on him by that sixth round wouldnt you think?
Barbourville has never beaten Knox since both joined the 51st. Prior to that, I cant recall when it happend.

You would think that but before King, Barbourville could never beat Scalf, nor Bargo before him. Central has always had that one pitcher that could beat Barbourville. Now I'm not saying if Central didn't have these pitchers, Barbourville would beat KC every year, because they probably still wouldn't win. But think about about it, when Barbourville sees the "Panthers" on the front of their jerseys in any sport, its like KC automatically wins because who they are. Their the older brother that constantly beats them up. With that being said, this year might be the same with KC winning again or maybe not. Its too early to tell. With KC losing alot of starters and Barbourville returning most of its starters, Barbourville does a have really good chance of beating Central.

Barbourville is a veteran team. Barbourville kids have played together for years now. Barbourville has a seasoned group of pitchers. But with all this said they have never beaten KC and IMO still will not be able to overtake them. The panthers lost 5 starters but pick up some solid young players and hold on to two of their three outfeilders in Helton and Elliott. And Bingham at second. 5 year starter, Tyler Gilbert will be behind the plate and more thsn likely on the mound this year against bville, with his arm looking better than ever. He has not had many starts on the mound but has been more than impressive when he has. For example, leading the Panthers to a win over a very good Whitefeild acadamy his sopohmore year, when his team was very similar to this years. The panthers will be able to win without king. The panthers will be 2-0 against barbourville and district champs once again when it's time for the regional tournament.

I agree with everything you said except for this. Gilberts Sophomore year was probably the best team he will have been on in his 5 years playing for Knox.

That's kinda rude. Barbourville is just as capable as anyone in the 13th region to win the region title. Barbourville is loaded with seniors and with good coaching and senior leadership so I believe they really cold contend for the region title!!

He was not being rude. He Was telling u how it is. There are many more capable teams in the 13th. Even tho anything can happen they will more than likely not be a factor in the regional tournament. With that said any team from the 51st would have to work super hard to compete for a regional title THIS YEAR. IMO.

Rumor has it that Jeff Banfield will be taking over as head coach. If this is true, he will be bringing many years of baseball experience to this veteran team. I look for the Barbourville Tigers to be the team to beat this year.
