Yeah the more I think about it, its a poll right? Not just listing the best teams. In the BCS if #2 loses to #1 they still typically drop to around 8 or 9. I just dont see a 1-3 team being that high in a poll. Maybe towards the end of the season when theyre 7-3 they can gain a higher standing.

The defense is the only thing holding them back. They allowed WJ to score 32 points, which was their highest point total to date. Only 4 teams in all of 4A have allowed more points than Rowan Co.
I think Rowan Co. and Lone Oak are right there. However, Western was the only 4A team from last weeks top 10 to loose. So, I really couldn't see things changing too much. In fact, I may have penalized Western more than I should have, but Franklin-Simpson is playing very strong on both sides of the ball.
Rowan Co.'s performance this week will tell us a lot about both them and Ashland.
I'm just glad that we're getting into some district play and getting Kentucky teams playing Kentucky teams.

RunItUpTheGut Wrote:Perry and Rock go at it Friday night.
Maybe then it will start to become a lot clearer.
If Rock beats PCC, does that warrant there spot then?
I think so.
I think your exactly right. Perry is currently the only measuring stick that we have with Johnson Central and Knox Central. The Rock - Perry game will give us somewhat of an order.
Then the following week we get Rock - Russell Co. So we'll finally get a means to compare the teams.

The more input the better.
Obviously i cant watch all of these teams, or can the guys doing this with me. Only one game per week. If you all have thoughts, share them.
Personally i know nothing of Franklin, exxcept what i can gather off of khsaa and seeing who theyve played. Youll be surprised to how far speaking up goes. I personally do the 5A rankings, so know that your comment will be taken seriously.

Still think 2-4 could be in any order. Will get a better look at what cov cath really has this week. I also agree with others that JC should be at least 5th and maybe higher as the season goes.

You're 100% right there. Lex Cath seemed to be hot at the beginning of the year, but Boyle and CC are coming on strong. We'll see how CC does against Highlands compared to Boyle.
09-20-2011, 12:25 AM
I dont think B-town or Butler county should be ranked in front of green county or desales, one reason is because green county beat both fairly easy last yr and return almost all of the team that did so, also desales may have not won but 2 games so far but the teams they have played are the reason for that, let them play the schedule butler county or many teams have played and there 4-1 or 5-0 at this point.

I think overall the AP poll has pretty much the same teams as our polls do, just jumbled around a little bit.

Yeah, I don't think ours are influenced geographically like the AP. I personally don't care if a team is from Paducah or Pikeville. If they deserve to be ranked, they should be.
The hardest part to determine is how the teams out west compare to the teams in the east. Take 4A (Lone Oak, Franklin-Simpson, Madisonville) are all very good teams, but how good in comparison to JC, Rock, Knox, Russell. There just aren't many games to use for comparison, and it looks like the best measuring stick we may have is through ACS (who's a completely different team in week 5 than they were when they played Boyle). So even they are not a real good measuring stick.
