He played for the Monstars last season and averaged 26.5 PPG and 19.3 RPG. He was 7 years old and the waterboy for the team that played Michael Jordan. Can't wait to see him.

It just might be time for me to retire from 14th regional basketball completely. I watch no NBA and very little college ball. I have always followed 14th region boys basketball because I seriously enjoyed watching local boys play, boys that I had been watching all their life and knew their families, etc. I have no interest in watching boys from Texas, NY or Canada. I am so disappointed in a system that has let this happen.

Poke fun if you want to, but there was a whole group of us old timers discussing this before the Canada kid was even mentioned. If this is the direction that boys high school basketball is going, it's just not for us. Mountain basketball should be played by mountain boys.

I don't know anything about Canadians or Martians coming to the mountains.

All I know is that there are some really talented kids that are looking to suit up this year and represent Eastern Kentucky.
I don't care if the coach is running camps all over the nation, if a kid is here for one year to make a State Title run, or if a player comes from Mars....
This is going to be an interesting year for basketball and I think we need to just leave it at that.

Irish, I don't know if you are a scorned ex-teammate, a butt-hurt coach, or just simply a friend of the kid looking out for his well-being....

I knew about this kid being enrolled at Perry Central before some of the Coach's did, if that tells you anything about how hard he was "recruited"...
and I grew up in the Perry County School System and I worked hard for my ACT score along with everyone else I went to school with.

Let's just await the KHSAA's ruling and see what he can do on the football field this year.

#2) If he needed help academically he should've just stayed in NY where the grades don't matter.
#3) PCC doesn't administer the test anymore so any argument you have about that is utterly void and will be until the end of time.

There are multiple news reports here and here that the ACT, Incorporated is investigating “potentially compromised test scores” at the Perry County Central High School.

Tests involved include the PLAN tests for 2009 and the ACT given in 2009 and 2010. PLAN is given to all 10th grade students in Kentucky, and all 11th graders take the actual ACT college entrance test.

The sketchy reports say student cheating is not suspected. The issue apparently surrounds testing administration procedures of tests with special accommodations to students with learning disabilities. However, it is reported that all the 2009 test scores have been cancelled, and students will be offered a chance to retest.

"We have canceled all the 2009 PLAN scores at Perry Central," Gomer said. "We also have canceled the 2009 ACT accommodated test scores at Perry Central, and all of the 2010 ACT scores are under review."

The term "accommodated" refers to tests in which students with learning issues are allowed "accommodations" in the way they take the test to compensate for their learning problems.
